On the next slides you’ll see what I mean haha. Quite reassuring since we’re about to receive a tsunami of Wattpad migrants

I’m gonna see a gynecologist for the first time (nsfw just in case)

I know you don’t typically need to see a gynecologist for the first time until your twenties, but I’ve had very abnormal periods since they began four years ago. My general physician won’t take me seriously so I’m going to a gynecologist, since where I live you don’t need a referral. I’m a bit nervous, especially since I’m a teenager. Any advice?

Does research genuinely mean nothing?

Please don’t downvote or hate, it’s a genuine question.

I am aware that I don’t have the same level of knowledge to do research as a PhD student. My dad is a professor, but in a completely different field than my chosen one. I am getting access to equipment and advice on how to write from other professors, some of whom my parents know, some don’t. But otherwise, I am the one doing everything. I am the one doing all the writing, referencing, graph-making, data collection, etc. I am the one coming up with ideas and then trying to find the gap in literature. And I’m researching stuff I actually find interesting and want to know about!

is that REALLY gonna mean nothing to AOs? Are they just going to think that my parents did everything and paid someone to put my name on the paper?

had a dream I should post this so I’m posting this lmao

(this is a semi-serious post)

I am someone who uses LOA and has shifted a couple times thanks to it. I feel like the problem with most LOA users is that they don’t understand what LOA is? I’m not claiming to be like, the sole person who knows everything or the next Neville Goddard or whatever. IMO a lot of what Neville said is kind of dumb, but that’s a whole other can of worms.

First off, too many people conflate Law of Assumption and Law of Attraction. “you have to let go” “you don’t know when it will come” NO. That’s Law of ATTRACTION bs. I hate law of attraction sm. “pLaNt tHe sEeD aNd LEt iT gO” if you plant a seed without doing anything else the plant will fucking die.

Secondly, a lot of what is going around is just a shit ton of misinformation. You don’t have to “believe“ anything. It makes no sense that you WOULD believe anything before having it. For example, I’m not gonna believe I’m super rich if I’ve been poor my whole life. I don’t ever “act as if I have shifted” bc I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean. “this is THE TECHNIQUE” no. there’s no set key. It’s whatever works for you.

You can feel whatever you want. You don’t have to control every emotion to manifest/shift like some people would have you believe.

LOA literally doesn’t have rules! It’s in the fucking name! Whatever rules for manifesting are the rules YOU make for YOURSELF.

Finally, it is SO condescending when people say “LOA IS EASY! JUST DO THIS METHOD/SELF-CONCEPT/FUCKING BS”—stfu. LOA isn’t easy for everyone! It took YEARS for me to understand LOA!

Unique financial aid situation

I live in an abusive household. I am going to escape ASAP after I turn 18, and I have planned very thoroughly how I’m going to do so. The thing is, my actual escape will probably be after I have submitted my applications, so I was going to get a homeless youth determination in order to file independently on FAFSA (it’s really easy to get one in my state).

But since my applications would have already been submitted, and I’ve never really experienced financial hardship, would it not look strange that none of my essays talk about or even hint at these formative experiences? I can’t hint at it either since my parents would proofread my essays.

I know the smart thing to do would be to let them pay for college and never look back, but I will actually die if I have to stay in that house any longer, and I’d feel shitty making them pay so much money for my sake and then leaving them.

I’m not gonna fucking die if I don’t get into an Ivy League

Since elementary school, it’s been all about getting into an Ivy League. I got screamed at and told I wouldn’t have a future for not studying in FOURTH GRADE.

Now I’m in high school and all I hear is college. college. college. SAT. SAT. SAT. According to my dad who didn’t attend university in the USA, every college here will reject me instantly if I dare to take the SAT more than once. I HAVE to get a perfect score first try or it’s all over.

I sit down for two seconds because it’s fucking summer vacation and suddenly I’m being interrogated on what I completed today. What I studied today. Rapid-fire accusatory questions, which if I don’t answer even one “properly”, I’m destined to fail and live on the streets and flip burgers for a living. The kids in China and India are working 7x harder than me and I’m nothing compared to them. And then they have the audacity to say “We’re just looking out for you! We’re on your side! We’re not attacking you!”

If I DO get into an Ivy League, they will take credit for it. They will be like “We told you! Just listen to us!” But you know what? I’m not going to lose my future because I didn’t get into an Ivy League! There are plenty of good universities out there with good opportunities that will allow me to find a decent career afterwards.

The age of 18 cannot come fast enough.

my bullshit college admissions theory

Okay okay I’m a rising junior who’s never been or applied to college but I have tiger Asian parents and an admissions counselor so I’m somewhat familiar with the process. Based on what I’ve witnessed from seniors around me, here’s my theory on why a lot cracked applicants get rejected everywhere while seemingly mediocre applicants bag four Ivies.

First of all, luck and money is a huge part of it. For any applicant. But setting that aside for the sake of this argument, we’ll start by taking a look at the cracked applicant (slightly exaggerated for facetiousness):

- “Humble” background

- First gen

- 3000 SAT (first try)

- 10.4 GPA (unweighted)

- 32 APs (all 5s)

- 20 international awards

- 50 national awards

- Founded a nonprofit that’s reached 2 million developing countries

- Outperformed thousands of PhD students in graduate level competitions

- Does some art hobby “for fun” that won a Grammy or Pulitzer or smth

- Grandmaster of all the clubs in their school district

- Groundbreaking research that saved the ocean, cured cancer, and won three Nobel Prizes

- Rejected from every university and waitlisted at state

Holistic applications are meant to show who you are as a person. Winning a bunch of awards and doing obscene amounts of volunteer work may seem like it’s doing that, but after a point you don’t look like a person who’s living a life. You look like a portfolio that was made solely for college apps. Like a much less rich Mr. Beast (though a good chunk of these applicants are probably still well-off).

Where’s the human buried under all of this? Where’s the personality? What is YOUR journey?

Now let’s take a look at the “mediocre” applicant (stats loosely based on irl people I know):

- Middle class background

- 1580 SAT

- 3.8 GPA

- Second gen (neither parent attended the reach schools)

- 13 APs (mostly 5s, some 4s)

- Mainly supportive role in a lab

- A couple of state awards

- Finalist in a national award

- President of three clubs

- Lot of community volunteering

- Got into Princeton, UPenn, and Cornell

I feel like if you have too many things on your achievements list, there’s not enough room left for you. Whereas with a list like the second one, there’s more room for AOs to see where you started, where and how you grew, and who you are now.

Has misuse of a term ever taken you out of a fic

I once read a fic that took place in South Korea (surprisingly not a K-pop fic). There was a smut scene with the side couple where the girl called the guy “hyung” as a way of creating distance between them and then the guy was like “do not ever call me hyung” in a hot way and then they fucked. I mean, I get what the author was going for, but like… that’s not what that means. that’s not how you use that honorific 😭

if anyone’s curious - in Korean, generally younger guys address older guys as hyung. younger girls address older guys as oppa. Although in the specific context I was talking about, the side couple were basically strangers who were also colleagues, and he was her senior, so she probably would have said sunbae.

Manifested away the ant invasion in my kitchen 🥹

I live in a town that universally gets an awful ant invasion during the summer. Every single house, apartment, shack, etc. gets completely infested. This summer it was REALLY bad though, because it spread to the kitchen. It was borderline unusable. Exterminators were completely booked.

My family and I decided to go on a weekend trip to tour a college. I decided enough was enough and affirmed the whole weekend, “There are no ants”. Didn’t do anything else, just affirmed whenever it came to mind.

We came back today and the kitchen was spotless! The ants were almost completely gone, despite there being old food particles on the floor.

now manifesting for the rest of the house :)
