Landroid with docking in garage possible?

I'm looking at the Landroid models without perimeter wire and with the base station, but at the moment I don't have easy access to power in the main garden. Does anyone know if it's possible to have a mower that works in a back garden and then gets carried back and forth to it's garage dock every now and then when it needs charging? Or is drilling holes into walls and routing power out to an outdoor docking station the only workable option?

Connect inverter to wifi

Hi, we've just moved into a house that has a Viridium Solar Clearline inverter. I'm trying to get a feel for how much we are generating so bought a WiFi dongle.

This doesn't seem to be able to connect to my WiFi, I can connect to the dongle directly but when I give it my WiFi details it says it will restart and connect but doesn't. Anyone got any tips?

Even if I do get it connected, does anyone know if you get any useful information from this? As far as I can see from the direct connection it just shows a total generation figure and a daily figure. Not sure if it's worth persisting with the connection if there is such a small amount of accessible data.

Farmers, are you getting paid more for beef?

Beef in supermarkets has gone up a lot so I'm wondering if that is just greed from the supermarkets or if the farmers are actually benefiting from the increase.

New house, weird setup

I'm very new to this, so it's quite possible I'm just doing something stupid or completely misunderstanding something.

We moved into a new house yesterday with mitsubishi heat pump feeding underfloor heating downstairs (which I think is zone1), radiators upstairs and a hot water tank.

I've been going through the process of setting up the MELCloud Home app, and can now see our system. But these temperatures don't make sense?

It's definitely not -39°C downstairs or 0°C upstairs. The various zone thermostats all read sensible numbers, so why is this reading so crazy?

4G modem to temporarily replace internet connection

I'm moving house soon within the UK. My current house has fibre broadband that goes to a wall mounted modem (that will stay in the house), that then connects with wired ethernet to a Google home WiFi router, everything in my house connects to this via either WiFi or a wired switch.

I'm looking for a short term solution to an internet connection while the new house gets connected and am thinking a 4G modem with a SIM card might do the job, if I can connect this via ethernet into the same router. Is this likely to be as simple as buying something from eg Amazon, getting a SIM card with a PAYG data bundle and wiring it together?

(Automod thinks this might be off topic, I guess it's picked up on house move keywords, but the core of the issue is networking)

What's going on with UK beef sales for the last year and a half?

Hello, so this is a weird one, but I could not find another community that fit and no major news outlets seem to be reporting on this.

I have a bit of a hobby of tracking the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)'s stats on meat purchases, partly because there seems to be a broader trend of declining per capita meat consumption in the UK which is weirdly underreported on.

Anyway since Feb 2025, beef sales seem to have dropped by 43 million kg (TBH, I'm not really sure if the data is monthly or a 52-week average, but the trend is the same regardless), which is about -7.5% (or a bit more in per-capita terms, given the UK's population has grown in that time). This might not seem like a lot, but for a year and half that's pretty massive. I don't expect that trend to continue indefinitely, but if it were to we'd stop eating beef entirely by the early 2040s. Per capita beef consumption has been declining in the UK for decades, but this seems like an acceleration.

(the chart is mine, but I pulled the data from the AHDB, their dashboard is scaled to 0 in a way that makes the trend hard to see)

(data from here: GB household beef purchases | AHDB,)

I know the answer people will give is inflation and higher beef prices, and other AHDB data (here) supports that for what kicked off the decline from Feb 2025, although it shows price rises levelling off in Aug 2025 and the decline continued after that.

There are other datasets like the ONS family food survey (here) which suggest we're generally eating less meat overall for the last few years, particularly younger people when I've been stats broken out.

What I'm really curious about is:

  1. Is this trend real and will it continue?
  2. What proportion of of this is driven by cost-pressures vs. younger generations making an ethical/environmental choice to avoid beef?
  3. What are the practical downstream effects here? How is this effecting British land use given so much of our land is used for beef? Are restaurants reducing how beef-y their menus are?

On the AHDB website they blame it all on higher prices. But TBH, while I like their data, they seem to also act as a lobbying organisation for the UK meat industry (which is a bit suss given they seem to be a publicly funded organisation, but whatever). I don't think they'd publish analysis that said 'people don't want our product anymore'.

Annnnnyway, I'd be curious about people's experiences here? Even if you don't know anything abut the beef industry, are you personally eating less? Also, I promise I'm not a market research person, I'm just weirdly invested in this topic.

How to unlink a charger when moving out?

Does anyone know how to unlink or reset a charger to allow a new person to set it up in their own account?

I'm moving out of a house soon, and we have agreed with the buyers that we will leave our charger. But at the moment it's linked to my accounts (both Ohme and octopus). So how do I reset it to allow the new owner to take control?

ULPT: if dividing sweets between two kids, eat one before you start

If there was an even number it becomes odd and there will be an extra one left which you get to eat at the end, and if there was an odd number you would have got to eat it anyway.

Gets you an extra sweet half of the time.

What are meats that could be in supermarkets more?

Growing up as a country bumpkin having rabbit, pheasant or venison was generally available to us based on who you spoke to in the village pub on a weekend.

Why don’t supermarket’s have more of the game meats of the UK? Or if they did, when did it roughly change?
After the scandal, would you eat horse meat if advertised on a shelf?

Double/Quadruple strength squash is harder to measure the correct amount of so you always use to much

Big squash just wants you to always make it a bit too strong so you keep using more.

Edit for clarification: Not the vegetable, you may know it as cordial. Maybe it's a UK thing, but it's concentrated fruit drink you mix with water, but nowadays everyone seems to be making stronger so in theory you use less per drink

Vehicle clues

Loved Subnautica, and will be buying Subnautica 2 when it's finished. In the meantime I grabbed Below Zero while it was reduced on Steam.

I'm not a long way in, but I'm feeling a bit lost. Maybe I've stumbled on things out of the intended order.

I'm aware there are vehicles to be found and built, but haven't yet found any bits.

I've been to the radio tower and met the lady in the prawn suit, found my way down to her base and explored that, giving me a task of deactivating the signal tower.

I also stumbled upon a morse code signal, and dived down and found a (the?) sanctuary and now have an alien living in my head. Again, this feels like it's something I'm meant to find later? Was a bit of luck (and I guess over confidence based on playing the original?) to free dive down to this. This has now given me another alien location to head for.

I also found a wrecked ship near the 'pilots last known position' beacon, but other than a lot of salvage nothing much here?

The clues I think I'm meant to be heading towards are the vague mention of where my sister used to work (west?)? Or is there something else pointing me towards a location for vehicle parts I've missed?
