on the CGC website, it say this for storage:

Storage: Store at 13–35°C (55–95°F) in a dry location. Protect from freezing, extreme heat and exposure to direct sunlight. Keep container tightly sealed. Do not use if material is discoloured or has an unpleasant odour

How to Store It for Several Days

Clean the edges: Scrape down any dried bits of compound from the inside walls and rim of the bucket so they do not fall in and create hard lumps later.

Smooth the surface: Flatten out the remaining joint compound so it sits in an even layer at the bottom of the container.

Add water: Pour a thin layer (about 1/2 inch) of clean water directly over the top of the compound to block air exposure.

Seal tightly: Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the mud or water, then snap the bucket lid on tightly

Should I do that after 1st coat?

Wipe clean, smooth edge, add 1/2 inch of water, press plastic wrap, snap lid tightly.

Then next day, after 2nd coat. Repeat the process.

3rd day, after 3rd coat. Repeat the process for long-term storage?
