Plant shipping tips please!

This is the best reddit I can find for this question: I have a few plants I need to ship across multiple states (midwest to east coast). They are in 3 and 4 inch nursery pots. Each package also includes a cache pot and a hanger. I've never shipped plants before, how do I make sure they get there safely?

Easy evening couch hobbies to do instead of drink

I'm trying to quit drinking, which I do at night out of boredom. I'm unemployed at the moment so by the end of the day I've run all my errands, done all my chores, engaged in all my up-and-at-em hobbies like taking care of the houseplants and cooking, scrolled through reddit for hours...I'm ready to settle down on the couch and I'm out of shit to do. I need something I can keep near the couch or do on my computer, pick up and put down at a moment's notice, doesn't require a lot of thinking or set up. Embroidery and crochet come to mind as things I already do, but I don't end up needing the items I make so it's hard to motivate myself to make them.

Anyone have suggestions?

Lipstick needs to come back into style

I love my lipstick. I was a die-hard liquid lipstick girlie, I've had to accept that we're largely back in bullet town and it's been hard. But you know what's harder? Watching lipstick disappear entirely! Every drugstore lipstick color line is shrinking and getting replaced by "tints", "oils" and "stains". I'm at the pharmacy, Walmart, Target, even Ulta searching for my colors and they're just no longer there. Ladies, I'm not here for a tint! I'm here for a bold red, a dark berry, a bright purple! If I wanted my lips to look like my lips I simply would not wear lip products! Tinted lip balm has always existed. If you want a shiny no-color lip enhancer or whatever take that and leave my lipstick alone.

How do I make this amigurumi scented for my car?

These lil octopuses are so fun and quick to make, I want to make one that's an air freshener for my car. How do I make him a) scented and b) scented enough that it actually diffuses into the car? Thanks!

What's your fave barely-there drugstore concealer?

Looking for something brightening but it doesn't have to be high-coverage. I don't have bad dark circles, it's just that when I wear foundation without concealer my face looks flat. I've recently tried Maybelline Fitme, Elf Camo, and one by Revolution that I don't recall the name of. They were all too thick, even blended out - super creasey. I very rarely wear a full face where concealer is required so I'm not willing to spend high-end money. Anyone have experience with E.L.F Soft Glam? Or maybe I should go for the NYX serum?

Adguard DNS stopped working

I've used dns.adguard-dns.com for years and enjoyed a peaceful ad-free life. Several weeks ago I set my DNS from private to automatic so I could watch ads for money due to Broke. Got a job, set DNS to private again. Changed literally nothing else. Ads no longer blocked, it's like I'm not even using it. What gives?

ETA I've tried other dns blockers too. It's like my phone isn't even accessing them

Cashback card for groceries (Walmart), bonus if also gas?

I've had one line of credit for ten years, Visa through my credit union. Exploring cashback cards now that I'm a big ol' adult age. Biggest and really only expenses are gas and groceries, which we currently buy at Walmart. I'm considering the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card, but it looks like if we want to keep purchasing groceries at Walmart the Walmart OnePay card might be the way to go, and forego cashback on gas? Any other options I haven't stumbled upon yet?

  • Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
    • Visa $1500, Oct 2016
  • FICO Score: 750
  • Oldest account age: Ten years
  • Chase 5/24 status: not sure what this is but I haven't opened a new credit account in a decade
  • Income: $50,000
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
    • dining 0
    • groceries: $650
    • gas: $50
    • travel: 0
    • other: $200
  • What's the purpose of your next card? Cashback
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? AMEX Everyday Cash, Walmart OnePay
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either

Search is only showing irrelevant results

I am looking for houseplants. Last week, I looked for houseplants and found houseplants. This week I have used the search terms "hoya" and "peperomia", same as last week. I would like to see houseplants. I would not like to see shirts, hair clips, jewelry, or anything else unrelated to houseplants. I would ESPECIALLY not like to see ONLY those those results INSTEAD of houseplants. What is happening???

"Carolina" ground turkey $1.98/lb, what's the catch?

"Carolina" brand ground turkey is available at my local Walmart for $1.98/lb, not on sale. It's 85/15, and labeled "meat bunker". The next cheapest ground turkey is Butterball at $4.44/lb. What am I missing? Love the idea of cheaper protein but the price difference has me suspicious.

Creamy pinto beans & rice - what to add for texture?

Creamy refried pinto beans (the kind where you blend half the beans) and rice tastes so yum but the smooth/mushy texture gets gag worthy after a few bites. What would you add to give it some chew or crunch (besides tortilla chips)?

How soon can I repot after potting up?

Potted up my krimson queen cuttings into my nice clear high quality nursery pots about a month ago, I decided I'm giving a couple to my sister in law next month but I want to keep my good pots and give them to her in regular nursery pots. Is two months between repotting enough that they won't be too stressed?

2013 EX windshield wipers thumping loudly at both ends of the arc

Bought in February. I have discovered that the wipers hit the trim on the downward swing with a loud thump. At the higher settings it also thumps the edge of the windshield at the top of the arc. The faster I drive, the louder it thumps. It shatters my concentration and is impacting my ability to drive the vehicle. What is going on here? This can't be right.

Options for someone who's disabled half the time

I'm 28. I have a few years of experience in the nonprofit human services world and many in customer service. My career path was meant to be in project management.

I got sick 2 years ago and now I have a disability that keeps me in bed for days to weeks at a time. When I'm doing well, I am physically and mentally capable. I'm quick and independent and a fast learner. I have a degree in political science.

But the disability is unpredictable. I can be fine one week and catatonic in bed the next. I'm just coming out of a 6 week bedbound stint. I can't keep a normal 40 hour job anymore, even if they're lenient about sick time.

Where do I go from here? I can't not work, I'm not disabled enough to qualify for assistance. I'm running out of ideas and money. So I turn to you, dear reddit: what can I do?

Resources for caregivers?

I'm the sick one, mild/moderate but without care I would slip into moderate/severe. I've also got crazy mental illness. My partner is my caregiver and has been for about 2 years. As we all know I'm likely to be like this forever and I'm hoping our relationship lasts the same. However, I'm getting worried about caregiver burnout. We don't have a great support network and there's no one for my partner to go to when things get hard. Are there resources anywhere to provide support, maybe where they can connect to other caregivers?

Got a couple rooted cuttings shipped to me from different Etsy stores, they got here Saturday. Both looked fine when unpacked (given that they'd just been shipped cross country). Both were shipped bare root so potted in chunky mix when they got to me. They're wilting from the top, with solid leaves still at the bottom. Krohniana is under a sansi light, rosita is in a southeast window. Transplant shock? Anything I can do to help them?

I wanna learn terms like "sp." and "aff.". I wanna learn about different varieties and their care and habits, and why some of them cost $149.86 for a cutting and some are more like $5. And where which ones come from and how that affects their growing habit or wtvr. Differences in leaf shape. Genetic lines. Give me, like, a textbook. There Is Knowledge And I Want It
