Cane or crutch. 7 weeks post op. Tightrope syndesmosis and deltoid ligament reattachment.

Has anyone tried using a cane for part of your recovery? I just ordered this one. It has a pivoting four point base.

7 weeks post op appointment Maissonouive fracture

PA says I can put full weight bearing on boot, but pain is intense and I feel like there is no support in ankle, so I am putting 80% weight bearing with walker. PA says to work through it and that physical therapy will help me get through it.

Is this normal for deltoid total tear reattachment?

Six weeks post op. Walked with partial weight bearing today at PT and I feel like there is very little support in the area of the ankle where the deltoid ligament was reattached with surgery, like if I was to do full weight bearing the anterior of the ankle where the reattachment was done would collapse. Is that normal?

will it ever end?

Gawd. Just pulled my lower back trying to catch myself falling backwards off the walker. Six weeks! post op, feels like six months. It affects every party of the body, I keep dropping things as well. Holy crap, this injury is interminable.

Screws vs. "tightrope" repair

For syndesmosis repair is there ever a reason to use screws instead of tightrope repair? It seems like tightrope is the latest and greatest and I am wondering why some are still getting screws?

MRI at post op?

Did you get an MRI at your second post operation follow up with your doctor? I'm 6 weeks post-op and have my second follow-up appointment next week. I'm wondering if they're going to have an MRI done? I had a total tear of the deltoid ligament and they reattached it to the bone. My understanding is that ligaments don't show up on x-rays

I'm not getting clear direction from PA

I haven't been getting any communication between the physician's assistant/doctor and my physical therapist. The latest is physicians assistant told me I was supposed to communicate to my physical therapist what I'm supposed to be doing. Physicians assistant has been giving me cryptic messages about how much weight bearing and when etc and I've had to initiate those conversations. Any advice on how to handle this?

My mom makes too much a month ($5K) to qualify for Medicaid, but she is totally immobile and needs full time skilled nursing in nursing home. Her assets are nearly gone. What are options?

Shoe size how much did you go up?

When you got your sport shoes after the boot, how much in size did you go up for what you usually wear? I am looking at the Brooks Ghose max but want to be sure to get the right size to accommodate any swelling.

5 weeks

5 weeks post op today. Syndesmosis tightrope, and reattachment of total tear of the deltoid ligament. Fell down a ladder volunteering at an outdoor youth camp. Ankle got caught between the second and third rung and caught the full weight of my body falling backwards. 56 years old. I like to think the past 25 years of weight training have helped me recover. Now the struggle is trying to find a good physical therapist. The one I have now is really poor. And if I hadn't educated myself, probably would have caused damage to the surgical repair. Yesterday they asked me to do side to side and inversion movement on my ankle after the surgeon had told me absolutely none of that until 7 weeks post-op. When I pointed this out to PT they said they "forgot." The first week they asked ME how much I'm supposed to be weight bearing. I told them that I thought that was their job. The time does not go by fast, when you're in it, it seems like forever. Worst thing I've ever been through mentally in my life. And it sucks that you're recovery is so much dependent on incompetent people who do not care.

Did anyone have this happen after surgery?

4 weeks post-op, ankle syndesmosis. This is on ankle of my good leg, not the affected leg. I have no clue what this could be. I am wondering if it's some kind of blood blister from putting extra pressure on my good leg.
