How long does it take to get to this level of buttons?

For those who trained their cats to use buttons, how long did it take for them to be somewhat conversational like this in the video? Like using 2 or more words and them trying to figure out how to convey their message, instead of just using 1 concrete word for 1 specific thing?

Must be so nice to be able to talk to your cats. 🥹

[Acne] Has anyone experienced tretinoin not working for their acne?

I've been using tretinoin for more than a year but my acne is still isn't completely gone like most of the results posted here. I've tried both 0.01 and moved to 0.025, but results are the same. Sometimes the acne calms down, sometimes it flares up, sometimes nothing happens at all. But I did notice it had a nice effect to my skin in terms of anti aging, it's just that my acne wouldn't budge.

So few weeks ago I've decided to stop it completely and change to just using a sulfur soap, peptide with niacinamide serum, and an oat moisturizer. Now I'm finally seeing results.

Has anyone else experienced this? I want to use tret cause I know it's so good for anti-aging, but it's not good for my acne. 😭 Could it be that it's just not for me? Is there a kind of vitamin A that suits my skin better? Or am I just doing something wrong? Wrong level of concentration, wrong routine, or wrong derm?

New to golf, is women's gear always like this?

Pretty new to golf so I’m trying to get my gear sorted early. I’m the type that likes having everything ready before I fully get into a new hobby lol, but ngl women’s golf gear feels kinda… underwhelming? a lot of it still feels like it’s built off men’s stuff. fit, colors, overall design just don’t really hit. And not just clothes either, some gear feels bulky, heavy, or just awkward if you’ve got smaller hands. rn I’m looking at a Titleist bag + Mileseey ionme2 rangefinder. also seen ppl talk about G/Fore shoes and Malbon, but still feels like most options are either super basic or just men’s gear with small tweaks. Am I being too picky here or is this kinda normal? what do you guys actually use/wear? mainly looking for women’s apparel + accessories that are light, easy to carry, and actually feel like they’re made for women..

did i break my golf speaker or am i overthinking it?

ngl I might be tripping but I gotta ask. I have been using the Mileseey GeneSonic Pro on course for a bit, no issues so far. Today it was on the cart and took a pretty solid bump while I was moving stuff around. not a drop, just a knock, since then it’s been in my head the whole round.

A few holes later I checked a yardage against my buddy’s device and we were getting slightly different numbers. Nothing crazy, but of course my brain immediately went back to that bump. I kept using it, everything still works fine (gps+audio all good), but now I lowkey don’t fully trust it anymore even tho there’s no real reason. Now I’m just stuck overthinking every yardage off it. Has anyone else ever do this after a small knock? or am I just tweaking?

Can you wear pants for "cocktail attire" wedding?

Hello! Are these pants okay to wear in a cocktail attire garden wedding? If yes, do I choose pants that are a bit shorter/above the ankle so I'm at least within the theme and won't look too formal? Also, is this acceptable for bridesmaids to wear as long as you follow the color pallette? I'm a bit uncomfortable wearing dresses. :(

Stiff neck after 14hr flight, is TENS / EMS / red light in consumer gadgets legit or placebo?

Body-Got back yesterday from a 14hr flight and my neck and lower back are just locked up. Turning my head feels like work, the part nobody really warns you about. You survive the flight and then your body decides you cant move properly for two days.

I do the usual stuff. water, walk around when i can, compression socks, try not to nap at the wrong hours. helps with jet lag and swelling but the muscle stiffness is its own problem.

A friend gave me one of those foldable skg neck things before the trip, the kind with electric pulses plus a heat setting. Used it for 15 mins after landing and my neck felt noticeably less locked up, though I'm trying not to overstate it. could just be the heat, or that I finally sat still.

So is there real science behind the pulse part? I keep seeing TENS, EMS, "red light therapy" thrown around and can't tell where evidence stops and marketing starts, mostly gate control theory or something happening at the muscle level.

And the red light wavelength stuff at those tiny doses in consumer gadgets, basically a warm placebo or actually meaningful. not looking for a pitch, just trying to figure out if im praying for science or just heat with extra steps.

built a python options execution engine over a few months. here are the things i wish id known on day one

spent the last several months building my own options execution engine in python after outgrowing no-code tools. not going to share the strategy (thats mine) but the infrastructure lessons are the kind of thing i wish someone had handed me at the start, so sharing those.

separate your signal engine from your execution engine. early on i had strategy logic and order placement tangled in one script. one slow computation would delay an order, one order issue would block the strategy from evaluating. splitting them into separate processes that communicate through a queue fixed a whole class of problems. the strategy decides, the execution layer executes, neither blocks the other.

log every timestamp from day one. signal time, order send time, broker ack time, fill time. i added this late and regretted it. without these timestamps you cannot tell whether a problem is your code, your strategy, or your broker. with them, diagnosis is obvious. this is the single highest-value thing you can build early.

position reconciliation is not optional. poll your actual broker positions every few seconds and compare against what your code thinks you hold. they will drift. a missed fill event, a partial fill mishandled, a reconnect that lost state. when they drift, pause and resync rather than trading on wrong state.

build a broker abstraction layer. your strategy code should never call the broker SDK directly. an adapter translates between your internal types and the broker. when i eventually tested a second broker, the migration was 3 days instead of 3 weeks because of this.

the broker API quality determines how much of this you have to build yourself. a clean API with structured events, stable websocket, and good error responses means less defensive code. a weak one means you write workarounds for everything.

what infra lessons did the rest of you learn the hard way? curious what id still be missing.

Have you tried this with your cat?

Our cat is generally calm and sweet at home but he's VERY anxious whenever he's at the vet or when grooming (in the same clinic). He had an accident 2 years ago (torn ligament) that required surgery and the doc at the time said it's better to neuter him at the same time so it's all done in one go. I feel like he never recovered from that trauma and is just always afraid to go to the vet. I'm hoping we don't have to go the meds route, if possible.

Will this help? And do we need to do it everyday?

I thought my radio was failing but it turned out to be the dumbest mistake imaginable

Let me set the scene a little because this whole thing still makes me laugh and feel stupid at the same time.

A few months ago I finally decided to move from cheap foam park flyers into something that actually felt “real.” Nothing huge. Just a modest trainer with flaps, decent telemetry, and enough power to scare me slightly during takeoff.

Before that, most of my experience was with small remote control toys from department stores and those tiny warbirds that survive because they weigh less than a sandwich.

So naturally I thought I was more prepared than I actually was.

First few flights went great. Smooth turns, decent landings, no major panic. Then one afternoon at the club field my plane suddenly started drifting left during climb. Hard left. I corrected. It drifted again. Then the controls felt delayed for maybe half a second.

That half second felt like ten years.

I somehow landed it in rough grass without breaking the prop and immediately became convinced my transmitter was failing. I spent the entire evening reading forum posts about signal interference, receiver brownouts, bad servos, all of it.

I even started browsing replacement receivers online and somehow ended up deep on Alibaba looking at bulk electronics and antenna kits like I suddenly worked for NASA.

Fast forward to the next morning.

One older guy at the field asked me a simple question.

“Did you check your battery strap?”

I did not.

The battery had shifted slightly during takeoff and changed the balance enough to make the plane fly horribly. Nothing electronic failed. Nothing was broken. It was literally one loose strap.

That was the moment I realized RC planes are humbling in a very specific way.

Sometimes the problem is advanced telemetry.

Sometimes you just forgot Velcro exists.

How do you store onions and bananas long term?

Someone gave us a bunch of onions and bananas and I don't know what to do with them. I've given out a few to the neighbors but I still have a lot.

For onions, do I need to blanch them or caramelize before freezing, or slicing them up/chopping using food processor then straight to freezer is fine?

For bananas, is it better to freeze them without the peel or with? I'm thinking of slicing them so it's easier to use straight from the freezer.

What do you do with your stock?

Baby waking up constantly at night… any easier way to do night feeds? 😭

Lately my baby been waking up SO much more during the night and honestly I feel like I’m just surviving in half-awake zombie mode 😭

It used to be only 1-2 wake ups and I could still handle it, but now sometimes I barely fall asleep and he wakes up again. The worst part is warming the bottle every single time… getting up in middle of the night, heating water, making formula, checking if it’s too hot, the whole thing easily takes like 10+ mins.

By the time baby finally goes back to sleep, I’m fully awake too and can’t fall asleep again for forever. My dark circles getting actually insane at this point 🥲

I’m really trying find a more “brain off” way to do night feeds because I seriously can’t do this every 2 hours anymore lol

We’re combo feeding right now (breastfeeding + formula), baby is 6 months old and waking up like 5-6 times every night lately.

Did anything actually helped you guys?

Like formula dispensers, warm water machines, pre-made bottles, room temp formula, literally any lazy mom night hacks 😭

I’ll seriously take any advice at this point lol

DIY bathroom cleaner - dish soap, soda wash, sodium percarbonate or too much?

What I used to do is leave regular bleach on shower floor for 5 minutes, rinse, and scrub with a dilluted blend of baking soda and dish soap. It worked really well!

But I only recently discovered the wonders of soda ash and sodium percarbonate. If I add it to my DIY bathroom cleaner, stop using regular bleach and remove baking soda, will it be too much?

- dish soap

- soda wash

- sodium percarbonate

- water

Is this still effective and safe?
