Just had a week with my 9 month old while my wife and 5 yo went on a trip together

And it reminded me how much down time there is with just 1 kid. The house has been clean the whole time, I’ve made some awesome meals, worked out daily. He even had a sleep regression this week, and it still felt like I had too much time. Anyone else experience this?

Imagine this coming up season, the warriors running out a 4 big lineup? No more 4 guard lineups!

This roster construction so far , especially if they get LeBron, will have a surplus of bigs that can actually play.

Imagine lineups of
Curry
Yaxel
Lebron
Dray
Porzingas

Then still have Gui, Horford on the bench plus Jimmy coming back. One thing the warriors won’t be is small

What styles/beers got you excited to join the industry?

I got in the industry back in 2013. Back then, I was always partial to red ales. Especially on the hoppier side.

I’m asking because currently the only beers we have on tap are lagers and IPA’s. Don’t get me wrong, I like selling beers and I enjoy these styles, but I miss the diversity and excitement of trying something new.

To be fair to myself, we have been so busy ( great thing) that I haven’t been able to brew non essential beers.

Finally slowed down a bit so I haven’t a saison and a hazelnut milk stout coming soon.

Just curious what are some other styles that we fell in love with years ago but haven’t been able to brew them because money. What’s a style that got you excited and still would today if you saw it on tap?

Highly recommend going on 1 on 1 trips with your child ( especially if you have more than 1)

We have a 5 yo and an 8 month old and the last 2 years now for spring break, I’ve taken the older kiddo on a week long trip and now my wife is taking her on a week long time. It honestly started because boarding our dogs is super expensive ( they are insane) so one of us staying home is just easier, plus with chickens etc. and now with a baby it also makes sense.

Highly recommend if you can swing it to take just 1 kid so you get that one on one time. And when your spouse takes the kid, you get that one on one time with the other kiddo ( if you have more than 1). It started out as a necessity, but now has turned into a tradition.

I can’t wait for a week with just me and the little dude at home. Gonna get our bro on for sure!

Anyone else do something similar?

SAS/ CHA swap Castle and Miller

Just here to hear very strong opinions from both sides about how terrible this trade is ( even though it makes sense for both teams)

Do you have moments of “sh*t, am I really the role model here?”

Being a father of 2 little ones ( 5 yo and 8 mo) I have these moments of “I’m the adult?” “I’m in charge?” I’m 37, but it’s still surreal sometimes that it’s really “I’m the adult” here. It’s not always, usually just here n there. Do you guys get those moments too? Like being the role model is a 24/7 job.

SAS/BOS/MIL

MIL- Brown/Fox
BOS- Giannis
Spurs- Turner/Kuzma

The idea is the bucks don’t have their own pick so might as well try and win.

BOS just swaps brown for Giannis

The spurs get some size and playoff experience and cap relief with Kuzma and Turner with the potential to help non Wemby minutes and potentially have Turner play a little with Wemby.

Just 3 seasons ago, De’Aaron Fox was the offensive engine for the best offense in the league for a 3 seed in the west.

In the 22’-23’ season, Fox averaged 25/6/4 and shot 51% overall. The Kings were the 3 seed in the west and had the best offense in the league. Just 3 years later , people think he’s a negative asset because he played hurt in the finals and had OG on him? I’m not saying he’s the best or anything, but he’s far from a bum like a lot of people are saying.

Just remember this if he’s traded and he goes back to running a high octane offense and averages an efficient 22-25 pts again.

SAS/ GSW- Fox for Butler

Thinking is the warriors get a player to play the whole year to help them get into the playoffs and the spurs get their vet who has a ton of playoff experience. He would have helped calm down this team during these comebacks.

I’m not sure either team really needs to throw in a pick. The spurs then clear cap room for wembys big extension next offseason. Then castles then Harper’s etc. while still being a top contender.

I’m going to Chicago ( staying near wrigleyville) first time, I need recs!

Almost feel obligated since this isn’t a brewing specific question, but been brewing for 13 years haha.

I can look online and whatnot, but I trust brewers when it comes to beer the most. What are some can’t miss spots. I live on the west coast so I don’t know much about the beer scene except it’s awesome! I would just hate to go and miss something.

Thanks in advance!

Does having your rakes on during the mash help head retention?

I heard someone mention this, and got me thinking that running takes during the mash helps head retention. My last brewery was a 10BBL 2 vessel system no rakes, very manual brewhouse.

Head retention was hit or miss honestly.

This brewhouse, 10 bbl 2 vessel system, has rakes. I run them for the duration of the mash. My head retention is really strong here.

Curious if there is an actual correlation, or I’ve just done some other things differently ( these 2 brew houses are 2 separate places) so there obviously other factors. Both places were my recipes which I have adapted with time as well.

Anyways, curious your thoughts on this.

I’m coaching 8th grade boys next season, I need help with basic terminology

Hey!

I’m looking for maybe a YouTube channel you guys like for middle school age ( not a super competitive league) players. I was the assistant last year for them in 7th grade but will be the head coach for them in 8th. I struggle with the correct terminology. I understand what ls happening/ supposed to happen, but I want to make sure I’m using the terminology they know or will learn if that makes sense.

My background in coaching is just last season as an assistant. I played freshman basketball and I still play regularly. I’m just really raw in coaching.

And maybe someone who has some YouTube concepts of an offense, and fundamentals that I probably am overlooking? Ie proper box out technique, defensive stance, footwork in the paint etc. I don’t want to do them a disservice and teach them well wrong.

Thanks for all the help in advanced!

Older players, drop some weight ( if you need to)

I’m 37, I’m 5’11.

I’ve been playing my whole life. I have 2 kids so basketball isn’t the priority. I tore my achillies at 32. I play 2 or so times a week in the mornings. I was 193 around January and in March I dropped down to 178.

DUDE, I’m athletic again! I went from not being able to touch rim to a single step and grab the rim. I used to think, “I never call fouls” like I’m some saint. Nope. I couldn’t get past dudes for them to foul me! I was in a 35+ league and by the end of the season, I was shooting 10 free throws with some and 1s. I went a season a year or so ago taking like 4 a season.

That 15 pounds is such a difference. If you’ve been thinking about dropping some weight, just calorie count and do it. It’s so worth it.

And defense, that was my calling card when I was younger. The last years I’ve been like wtf, these guys aren’t that good and they are getting past me easily. I guess I’m just old. Nope. Played today and had clamps on young dudes.

It’s a slight brag yes, but wow, basketball is so much more fun when you feel athletic. Anyone else is the same boat?

Is anyone else worried that Trae Young is an absolute terrible fit for AJ’s growth?

I know it might just be this year, but who knows, the wizards can resign him, but their games seem just terrible together. Am I wrong?

Thought exercise.

To clarify, we all know you don’t draft for need at the top of the draft. Teams will trade some of these players in the lineups and by the time these guys hit their primes, it’ll be totally different This is just a thought exercise to help envision these players on the court. Could be a fun discourse.

I’m going to show lineups of the top 3 potential picks with the top 3 teams in the draft.
Which of these teams with the player drafted if your favorite team is playing scares you the most.
