VIP experience so far

I'm considering getting VIP silver or VIP gold tickets to a show on this tour.

If you've been to a concert on this tour, how was the experience like? Do you think VIP is worth it?

How many silver and gold people were at your concert? How early did people start lining up?

If I wanted a barricade spot, would I need to get VIP gold?

I read another post saying that the VIP merch is handed out early in the show. Am I correct to assume that when doors open, the VIP people are led to the merch booth?

Or would they have to leave their spot in main line to join another line for the merch booth?

Concerts where things go wrong

For a recent concert, I had to drive through an hour of traffic on a confusing network of highway offramps in severe stormy weather to get to the venue. I was not in a good mood when I arrived, which significantly affected the enjoyment of the first couple of songs.

How do you not let events outside of the concert affect your enjoyment of the show?

I was also at a music festival where someone got injured (had bandages all over his head and a bloody tshirt). Even after that injury, that person stayed for the entire festival and seemed to have a good time.

If you've ever had something bad happen to you during a concert, how do you keep a good mood and continue enjoying the show?

Getting good with the RX100

I'm new to photography. I bought a RX100 last week and am having trouble getting good photos.

I took these photos with a cellphone:

https://preview.redd.it/j71zgfa0ufah1.png?width=1693&format=png&auto=webp&s=ec3dbb06a4412b42dea9343a96ffc36bc4b134fb

I took these with the RX100:

Why don't the photos from the RX100 look as good? For example, the sky from the cellphone photos looks a lot better.

I have raw files. Can the above photos be salvaged? What post-processing would you recommend doing?

Am I correct to assume that with post-processing, the RX100 photos can be made to look better than the cellphone ones?

Also, I understand that the RX100 is not waterproof. How resilient is it to moisture?

There was light rain that day. Is it safe to use the RX100 when there's light rain or when wind is blowing moisture in your direction?

Is there a waterproof camera cover that fits the RX100?

Handwritten version of setlist

I went to the Calgary show (which was amazing!!) and was lucky enough to get a typed setlist (which was taped to the stage) as well as a handwritten one.

There's another post about a handwritten set for the Edmonton show. Is there a handwritten setlist for every show?

If you've come across a handwritten setlist, which show was it at?

After the Calgary show, as they were cleaning up the stage, someone from the stage crew was handing out handwritten setlists. Does this happen at the end of every show?

Purposely choosing a worse venue

I saw one of my favorite bands twice this year. Both times were at center or near-center at the barricade in small venues.

I'd really like to see them again later this year. However, the show that works with my schedule is at an arena.

The sound quality at an arena isn't as good as the sound quality at small venues.

Do you think it's a good idea to go to a concert when you've already experienced better versions of the same concert?

Have you ever been to a concert that you knew wouldn't be as good as a previous concert?

Did you enjoy the concert or were you always comparing that concert to the previous one?

I heard that the sound quality near the stage sucks for arena and stadium shows, so getting GA and trying to get near the stage isn't worth it. Is this true?

Carrying case that attaches to belt

Anyone have any recommendations for a carrying case that attaches to a belt?

I'd like a case that allows me to quickly take out the camera out.

I prefer for the case to be as small as possible. It only needs to carry the camera.

Most of the cases I've looked at are not specifically designed for the RX100, so they have a lot of extra space.

There's a 2-piece leather case that only fits the camera, but it can't be attached to a belt.

Also, one piece is attached to the camera while the other piece is attached to nothing, so I'd have to hold that piece in my hand, making it harder to get a steady shot.

If you use a case for your RX100, which one do you use?

An unplanned break from finasteride and minoxidil

I've been using topical finasteride and topical minoxidil, and the combination seems to be working.

I ran out of finasteride and minoxidil yesterday.

I ordered more medication weeks ago, but the online pharmacy is having trouble fulfilling orders due to a technical issue. They said that they hope they can get things fixed and send me more medication in 1.5 weeks.

What would you recommend doing?

Is there a faster way to get topical finasteride and topical minoxidil?

If you took finasteride or minoxidil and took a break, how was your experience like? How long before you started experiencing hair loss again?

Astrophotography with the RX100

Anyone here use the RX100 for astrophotography?

How does the camera perform in extremely low light situations when using long exposures?

How hard is it to take star trail photos with this camera?

I'll need a tripod for long exposures. Is there a small, lightweight tripod that you'd recommend?

Taking photos from a plane window

Anyone here use the RX100 VII to take photos from a plane window?

What level of quality should I expect?

What settings do you recommend?

I like to photograph city skylines during takeoff or landing (either during the day or at night). How good is the RX100 at this?

Getting rid of portrait mode

I never use portrait mode on the camera. However, it's the first photo option, so it often gets selected by default.

Is there a way to remove portrait mode or change the order so it’s no longer first?

Accidentally selecting portrait mode has ruined many photos.

Is there a way to undo portrait mode after the photo has been taken?

There's a way to remove the blur effect in ios, so I was wondering if there was a way in Android.

The Macrovirus

In the episide Macrocosm, the crew encounters a giant virus (the macrovirus).

Virus typically aren't considered living organisms. They don't have any biological processes and can't grow in size.

However, after emerging from an infected cell, the virus is able to grow to a massive size.

This also violates the law of conservation of mass and energy since the virus would need a source of matter and energy to grow.

Are there any in-universe explanations for how the virus grows to such a large size?

The macrovirus is able to fly. Where does it get the energy to fly?

Also, viruses are typically only able to infect a limited number of species and cell types.

The macrovirus was native to a planet in the Delta Quadrant but could infect humans, other Federation species, and the biological material in the bioneural gel packs.

How could the virus evolve to infect species that it's never encountered before?

A virus attaches to a specific protein on the surface of a cell. If a cell doesn't have the specific protein needed by the virus, then the virus can't gain entry.

How could the macrovirus infect so many different species and cell types?

How to tell if the camera is actually new

I'd like to buy a new RX100 VII.

It has pretty good reviews, but the Amazon description tags this camera as "frequently returned".

(The "frequently returned" tag shows up when buying directly from Amazon and not when buying from a 3rd-party seller on Amazon.)

Anyone have any ideas why people frequently return this camera when buying from Amazon?

In the past, I've bought items on Amazon that were labeled as new but had previously been opened by another customer.

If I bought an RX100 VII, how can I tell if it's actually new?

What stickers outside and inside the box indicate that someone else hasn't opened the box and used the camera before?

Preventing the camera from taking photos accidentally

When the camera app is on and I place my phone near a surface, the camera will sometimes take a photo.

My hand is not on the shutter button on the screen, and my finger isn't pressing any physical button.

What would trigger the camera?

Is there a way to prevent the camera from accidentally triggering?

The included screen protector

I read a review of the RX100 VII that mentioned a screen protector is included.

Is it true that an actual screen protector is included?

Is it something that's firmly attached and not just a piece of plastic that’s supposed to easily peel off?

Some people use third-party screen protectors. If I intend to always put the camera in a case or plastic bag, do I need to buy a screen protector?

Is the built-in one good enough?

If not, any third-party screen protectors that you'd recommend?

Any cases that you'd recommend?

Hypothetical next steps

There have been recent developments in epigenetic reprogramming, which has the potential to rejuvenate a cell.

Life Biosciences is currently doing a clinical trial of epigenetic reprogramming on the optic nerve.

NewLimit announced that they expect to start clinical trials on epigenetic reprogramming of liver cells next year.

If these trials are successful, what would the next steps be?

There are 200 to 400 types of cells in the human body. Would we need to develop a specific reprogramming method for each type?

Which cells should be prioritized?

What's the strategy for going from reprogramming a few cell types to reprogramming every cell in the body?

Also, Life Biosciences said earlier they were hoping to start clinical trials of liver cells in 2027 or 2028.

What typically happens when multiple companies are working on the same technology?

Would patent laws allow for two companies to offer similar treatments?

Largest deflector-to-ship ratio

The Nova class is a small ship, but it has a large primary deflector dish. It also has a large secondary deflector.

Any theories on why a small ship needs so much deflector power?

The Nova refit has a smaller secondary deflector.

Any ideas on why Starfleet initially wanted more deflector and later changed their mind?

Also, the Nova class is based on the Defiant Pathfinder (an early design that later evolved into the Defiant class).

The Defiant class has a relatively small deflector.

Any explanations for why the deflector size shrank so much during the design process of the Defiant?

If the Defiant is designed for combat, why isn't there a secondary deflector in case the primary deflector is damaged?
