Everytime I rewatch this scene I gain new appreciation for it. The visuals, the characters' acting and the background music all harmonize so well to create one of the most beautifully haunting scene in star wars cinema
Of all anakin and padme scenes, this one made me understand their love and chemistry the most when ironically they werent even in the same room yet seemed so connected to each other. It really looks like they are silently looking through each other's feelings for each other through the force
I remember crying alot when I first saw the scene at end of andor of Cassian walking towards the plane leading up to events of Rogue one and even now I tear up whenever I rewatch this scene. The background music was phenomenal and makes it much more emotional
The fact that this scene places so much weight on the fact that for Cassian and everyone on yavin this was just another day and another mission but the audience know this was much more. Andor genuinely had one of the best ending to a series I've ever seen. So happy they didnt fumble it
I find it so funny how during ahsoka and luke's only on screen interaction ahsoka keeps looking at him like she's thinking "Oh my god anakin and padme really WERE together I KNEW it"
What do you think about the writing decision of having luffy zoro and sanji advancing their conquorer's to the same level in the same arc despite it taking luffy around 3 years to work on his COC, zoro taking a couple weeks and sanji being likely to immediately mastering it after unlocking it?
Considering that neither luffy zoro nor sanji were able to or knew how to irreversibly damage the HK in this arc, it's safe to assume that all 3 of them are going to gain sufficient advancement over their conquorer's haki in the same arc that it's strong enough to damage the HK which seems weird to me since luffy unlocked his COC 2 years ago and had to train all those years to get a proper mastery over it, zoro unlocked his only 2 arcs ago and still doesnt know how to manifest it at will and sanji hasnt even manifested his COC.
Having all 3 of them getting on the same level of COC mastery in the same arc just seems weird and bad writing to me. Sanji especially hasnt unlocked it yet, but its likely to reach on the same level of COC advancement as luffy since he's going to defeat killingham
What do you think about this?
"Palpatine didnt look suspicious to them in the beginning" Brother if an old politician went out of his way to insist on hanging out alone with a child multiple times over years I would be suspicious of him on the basis of that alone even if i wasnt a jedi
No, Andor wasn't "so good and interesting" because "it lacked jedi and lightsabers". It was good because it was very well written, had tremendous acting and had much fresher perspective than other SW media
Andor is among my all time fave series but im tired of all the pretentious fans (many of whoem havent even watched SW but only watched andor becuase they wanted to jump on the bandwagon hype) talking about how andor was such a hit and was loved since it was more "realistic" and didnt have any jedi or lightsabers or very less amount of aliens. I've even seen people saying that future SW projects should be more andoer-esque in terms of having no jedi, lightsabers etc which is so ridiculous in itself
Andor was so good and beloved because it was made by talented people who actually cared about the story and acting instead of hoping on using the star wars IP popularity to churn out mediocre gulp sh/tto slop. Andor was so good because almost all characters were amazingly written and had great moments and arcs, because it's dialogues were actually hard hitting, because the world building and set design was fabulous and because for the first time it showed us realistic and more gritty portrayal of the oppressive empire outside of the big bad gestures like blowing up planets etc
Yes removing the jedi and lightsabers and badass weapons increased the stakes alot which heavily contributed to andor's success but i bet that if writers of any other SW series put as much effort and care into writing their stories and characters and the directors knew what to bring out of the actors, even SW media containing all the sci fi elements of jedi etc would be as beloved as andor
And the idea of star wars being better without the stuff which makes star wars star wars (jedi, the force, light sabers etc) is laughable. These people acting like they are too mature or cool for jedi and lightsabers etc look embarrassing demanding it from the jedi and lightsabers franchise
I do hope that whoever is calling the shots at disney learns from andor and puts in more effrot in the writing of the future projects. Star wars isnt a dead horse. If they put out good and well written content, people WILL show up even if the content if full of jedi and lightsabers etc
Still cant believe these two different quality of writing came from the same franchise. The sheer difference between the depth of these two series' writing is actually crazy
While watching the sequels I never expected that I'd get to see THIS level of pristine writing from star wars franchise ever again but was so positively surprised with andor. Maybe the main problem with star wars isnt disney but the amount of care and love the creative decision makers and directors of a series put into it
One of the major issues with some of the recent star wars projects isnt just the writing, but how they keep giving stuff which luke had in EU to other character while ignoring luke
- - Luke builds a proper and mostly successful new jedi order in EU? Nope, in disney canon he spectacularly failed and rey is going to be the one who rebuilds the successful jedi order
- - Anakin's force ghost is back! But does he ever talk to his own son and the sole reason he became anakin skywalker again from darth vader? Who knows! We never see it onscreen! He just visits his apprentice who had previously failed to bring him back from dark side and who would be currently dead by his hands if it wasnt for the time travel plot armour lol. Apparently a 40 y/o woman having midlife crisis is more important to be shown getting visited by anakin's ghost than his own son and the last jedi who is trying to rebuild the jedi order and with who you can talk about his mother and your own shortcomings which can help him !
- - Remember the excellent thrawan trilogy where thrawan was a major new threat and how luke and co stopped him? Well we're kinda doing it in disney canon but luke isnt the main protagonist for this, dave filoni's OC ahsoka is!
- - Well maybe they just dont want to recast luke's actor and use CGI !! Cant they make an animated series surrounding luke and his friends' adventures? Nope! We're getting another animated series about some random other side characters. Luke who???
- - Disney is working on a new series about a SW character? Can we finally get another series where luke is the main focus since we havent had that since the original trilogy? Nope! You can have another new series about ahsoka though despite her being a major focus of 2 series already. Boba fett and lando can have their own series too! Not luke though!
All this just seems intentional and kid of deliberate towards SW fans who enjoyed the original trilogy. It's one thing to make completely new series with original and well written ideas to explore the SW universe outside of the main characters (mandalorian, andor, rogue one etc) since they actually seem like something in which much more soul and thought was put into. But the sequels and some of the other shows? Just come off as cheap imitations and sabotaging character while giving preference to their own OCs which is why so many of these shows are not receiving the love they were expecting to
Why do all the major star wars canon couples have such weird age gaps??
Also lowk crazy how i see more outrage about padme and anakin's age gap (yes its weird that they met when they were 14 and 19 i agree) but i see much less criticisms about rey and kylo and even less about han and leia
The longer this imu vs everyone fight goes, the less I'm convinced that imu is the final or even among the final villains. Oda has been saving the other final antagonists and their powers for the longest time while imu is already in his 3rd form
All of blackbeard's fights are offscreened and we still dont know how he manages to truly defeat his opponents. The 5 elders' fights especially nusjuro and mars's powers and fights were barely shown during egghead. We still havent seen a single admiral fighting using their awakened devil fruit and even show their conquorer's haki. Mihawk hasnt had a single fight where he uses even 50% of his strength. And neither of these characters have had any fights lasting more than 2-3 chapters
Meanwhile imu has already gone from blobmu to imu to imu second gear in this arc . The cast has been fighting him for last 7 months and most of them have already gotten many hits in on imu. For a final villain his performance really isnt anything special when luffy got back up like 2 chapters later from his "fatal" wounds. I dont think oda has ever portrayed any of his other main antagonists like that. With how much of a balanced fight this has been, I really dont see how imu can be the final villain after this unless it is properly revealed that he was severly nerfed here
Still, Imu's first impression is not something i expect from a final villain. I hope things change but let's see
I find it interesting that darth vader is the only sith we know of who does so much to treat his original identity of anakin as an entirely different person. Palpatine and Dooku have no issues with embracing both their original and sith names as their own identity
And its not only just darth vader, but everyone around him who knew him from his anakin days also treat anakin and vader as two different people. Obi wan told luke that his father was betrayed and killed by darth vader and again doubled down on this after luke confronted him since they were true from "a certain point of view".
Palpatine also refers to anakin as a different person from vader and refers to luke as "anakin skywalker's son" not "your son" in ESB and differentiates between the two personas in multiple other instances
I cant remember this happening with any other sith. Yes palpatine and dooku were still in disguise so couldnt go around parading their sith identities but they never have tried to distance themselves so much from each other's pre sith name and identity like it happens with anakin. Dooku was also a former jedi turned sith but he still embraces his past and treats it as a part of his current identity. And maul was given to palpatine as a baby so he never had any pre-sith identity. But everyone still uses their normal and sith names interchangeably and dont separate their identities.
I think anakin does it as a way to deal with his trauma and misdeeds since he never really wanted to be a sith and only did it since he thought he had no other option left to save padme's life and after being an accomplice in mace windu's assassination. He blames all his evil deeds on his current "darth vader" identity who killed anakin "since he was weak" and whose only purpose is to be the emperor's right hand man and help the empire prosper by doing all the dirty work, even if those actions are something anakin himself wouldnt agree with
Palpatine goes along with this split identity since he never fully trusted vader and doesnt want him going back to his jedi "anakin" identity and turn on him and obi wan does it since he's still emotionally attached to anakin and cant bring himself to accept that the person who committed all those atrocities is the same one as the person who he considers his little brother
The pain on obi wan's face when he saw anakin behind vader's mask and realized that he's the reason anakin is such an awful condition is so heartbreaking. Maybe that's also why anakin/vader took back his "i am what you made me" line and assured him that he wasnt to be blamed for what he had become
Obi wan had spent a decade suffering from PTSD and blaming himself for anakin's fall and witnessing how it was still anakin behind that mask and how much battered and shell of a person he had become must have dealt a huge emotional blow to obi wan who still cared for anakin in some way which is why he apologized so sincerely, something he couldnt do during their first fight.
I think it was mix of anakin who still cared for obi wan, slipping through after seeing him in so much pain, as well as him not wanting obi wan to have sympathy for him since he still wanted to kill obi wan or be killed by him properly. The actors did such a great job with the line delivery and emotions
Crazy how umibozu used to look like this before he met kouka. Love and marriage truly change a man
He used to look even more deranged than kamui or any other yato (other than housen) we've seen in the series. I could never look at this man and believe he'd turn into a typical middle aged bald dad who kept trying to regrow his hair
This shot of anakin fading into vader is one of my fave visuals from recent star wars related projects
In the beginning she probably just wanted a little situationship but bro unloaded years worth of love confession monologue on her lmao
Just realized that not a single main/major character from both original and prequel trilogy had a proper *happily ever after* love life in the main star wars canon universe
I know marriage is not a requirement for a fulfilling life and being a jedi essentially doesnt involve marriage but i still find it lowkey funny and sad that none of our major cast got to have a proper happy married life , even han and leia who werent jedi
