Taking toy from 1 year old

So we had a baby okay date with two other baby girls the same age (1). One of the baby’s took a toy from my baby who cried so I grabbed a similar toy and convinced my baby to like it.

Is this the way to go? I know they are 1 but I don’t want her to feel like it’s okay to get things taken away from her all the time. I’ve also taken thing a from her sometimes when she gets into things she should and gets really angry and cries. For example she put a napkin in her mouth and started chewing (I’m teaching her to wipe her mouth).

She didn’t use to cry when other babies or I took items from her, I think this is new because of how many times I’ve taken items from her. Is there a way I can also fix this?

Down to one nap?

Hi all, my baby is now 13 months. She used to sleep from 9-10:30 and 2-3:30, and bedtime at 7pm. It would take her around 10 minutes to fall sleep each time.

Ever since she turned 1 she’s been sleeping maybe 9-10 and 2-3. When I put her down now at 9am she takes about 30 mins to go to sleep so now I’m pushing the 9am to about 9:30am but it still takes her about 15 minutes to go to sleep. This shifted her afternoon nap to 2:30 to 3:30. Now I started to push her bedtime to 7:30pm instead of 7pm. Today we put her down at 7:25 and she cried on and off until 7:48.

I’m kind of wanting some advice. Should we shift her bedtime to 8? Or was she over tired? Was this week a fluke? Or is she down to one nap now? Don’t know what to do.

First tantrum? Did I do this right?

Wondering if this was a tantrun or just over tired

My one year old couldn’t unzip a bag, we’ve been working on unzipping and zipping. I let her try to work it for a couple of minutes and then I stepped in.

But once I unzipped the bag and zipped it back she got angry and started crying. She would grab the bag from me and then bring it back. She was pinching my hands when I held it or slapping my hand away.

I kept quiet and calm when she was crying. When she gave me the bag I held it when she grabbed it from me I let her. This was maybe 5 minutes. Then I picked her up and took her to her bedroom. We usually play on the floor before nap time.

She wouldn’t stop crying, then she saw her pacifier on the floor grabbed it put it in her mouth and then came to me. I held her for a minute she wasn’t crying at this point. Told her I loved her put her in the crib and she instantly fell sleep.

I’m not sure if she was just over tired, hungry or if this is a tantrum.

She didn’t eat her eggs this morning, I think maybe I over seasoned them so I made another egg for her but again she didn’t eat them. Not really sure what’s going on.

Anyway is this the correct way to respond to a tantrum if it was one?

Gifted a tonie for my baby’s first birthday

Hi all, what is the hype about the tonies? Each character is 20$ so they will easily add up. Do people really love them?

What’s the difference between a tonie and just playing the songs on my Spotify (I pay for the subscription)

Anyway please tell me.

Lesson plans for 1 year old

I think im going to quit my job and be a SAHM but I want to treat it as if my daughter was going to daycare. The few daycares I attended all had lesson plans and the days planned out I.e sensory activity, learning colors, learning the letter “A” etc.

I don’t think I’ll have time to research lesson plans, or ideas (other than spending like 10 hours a day on Instagram).

Does anyone know where I can get some of these?

Constipation free foods?

So my baby is always constipated. I try to give her veggies but she’s sick of them, what kinds of things do you feed your baby? Also I find cooked veggies to be hard for her to hold and eat- it’s usually slimy if I bake it with olive oil.

Some stuff I’ve done:
Steam broccoli
Air fry eggplant

Name on wooden animals

Hi! I want to write a name on each of these, making them as favors for my babies first birthday. What should I use? Markers? Acrylic paint? I have no idea

Spitting out food

So I’ve noticed that my baby will shove a lot of food in her mouth and then spit it out because she can’t chew it at all. Literary she did this for a week or two.

So now I put a piece of food on her tray wait for her to chew and swallow and then I give her another piece of her meal. It takes forever to eat like today it was 45 minutes. I’m worried

Is this the correct way to fix this? At what point do I give her her plate back and hope she learns to eat one piece at a time?

Am I unreasonable?

Paying 30$ and hour for nany.

She will start full time in a month but since May I have her coming once a week so my baby can get used to her.

She charges my friend 25$ an hour but because I live 20 mins east she’s charging me 30. I said fine.

She’s consistently 15 minutes late. One time 20 minutes.

She doesn’t cook.

She asked one time if she could take a couple of lemons from my tree. That day she took a whole bag. I said fine I’m not an asshole im not going to say anything.

She did it again on another day. Today she took a whole bag of lemons and oranges from my tree and didn’t tell me until she left- like oh hey I took some lemons and oranges. I don’t care about the fruit. My tree is really big. What bugs me is the entitlement and that she didn’t ask.

I sleep trained my baby 9-10:30 and 2-3:30. I have to consistently check my camera and text her to wake up the baby even though I have her schedule written out on paper. Today I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t check. She left my baby in the crib until 3:47 (I took a snapshot of it). So when I put my baby in the crib today at 7pm she was crying. When I confronted her she said she only let her sleep until 3:35 … which is an obvious lie. When I sent her the picture she said you really think 17 mins is going to affect her sleep? Not only did she not do as I asked she then lied about it.

I’ve told her several times I’m doing baby led weaning, and she keeps pushing to give her purees. My baby is 11 months. She said she spoon fed my friends baby until she was 2. I keep telling her not to bother my baby when she eats (she gets mad and cries) but she consistently wipes her mouth and tries to feed her. So of course my baby keeps crying during meal times.

When she had a headache I let her go an hour early and still paid. I always let her go at 4pm even though she’s always late. She works 8-4pm.

I changed her work day from Friday to Wednesday because she needed to pick up her grand daughter from summer school.

The big one, the first 3 days she was alWAYs getting phone calls. From her daughter and son and etc. She picks up talks for 5-10 mins and hangs up. She doesn’t do it as much now. But my biggest pet peeve is while my daughter is having physical therapy in the living room she has watched YouTube videos on the dining area which is literary 5 ft from my living room. She walks back and forth from the backyard to the kitchen talking on the phone and distracts my baby from her physical therapy.

She also picks up or texts while my baby is awake. If they are playing together she stops and picks up her phone. Today I saw her holding my baby while she was crying and texting.

I’m not asking for a lot and I feel like I’m a good employee. But why can’t she do what I ask?

Edit: some typos and clarifications.

Independent versus guided play

Is there a certain ratio we should go by?

I’m worried that I’m not playing with my baby enough. I do sit and watch her though and she turns around and shows me her toy and I say “yes that’s a yellow cup”. Sometimes thigh in cleaning or washing dishes etc. but I’m always in the vicinity.

What do you do in this situation?

Baby usually wakes up at t 6am with naps at 9am and 2pm each is 1-1.5 hours long.

For the past week her naps hable been combined 1-1.5 hours. She is 10.5 months- is she having a regression? What do you do? Her bedtime is usually 7 but since she woke up at 1:30pm today do I put her down earlier? Isn’t that going to mess up tomorrow’s sleep?

Thank you!

How to clean this sink area

Hi! How do I clean this area of my countertop. It’s exposed to water obviously when I wash dishes. It’s stained yellow. Also I have a cleaning lady that comes every 3 weeks, is this normal build up? Or is she not cleaning this area right?

Thank you!

Im doing 5 minute check-in’s.
