I want to look at optimizing the WAPs in my house. What is the best app for doing a test of the wifi signal in various rooms? I have tried NetSpot - is that the best or are there better options?
Scabrough GO station's parking lot now fills up early in the morning on most weekdays. There is some vacant land that is immediate SW of the parking lot that I have circled in yellow. It appears that this land is used by Metrolinx/GO as it is currently has a bunch of rails and other equipment. Par of it in this Google Maps photo appears to be a gravel pile. Is this land owned by Metrolinx? If it is then why don't they pave this to expand the parking lot?
Yesterday morning my home network went on the fritz. From my PCs I couldn't ping my router. I tried using a different switch and at first I thought my switch was the problem. But after removing devices from the switch after an hour or two I narrowed the problem down to a TV - a Sharp TV that is about ten years old that is hardwired into my LAN. When I removed the ethernet cable from this device my network was fine. Once I power cycled the TV I was able to plug it back in and all is well - or at least it has been for 16 hours or so.
What causes a device to essentially pollute your entire network? Is this a one off thing, or is it possible that this TV could cause this type of problem again?
This TV is about ten years old, has always had a connected ethernet port and has never given this issue until yestereday. I don't use the smart apps on the TV, but I do use IP control for controlling the TV with my Control4 home automation system - power control, input selection, etc.
ATSC 1.0 is usually 1080i or 720p using MPEG-2. When a TV network, say ABC, distributes a signal like Monday Night Football to an affiliate, say WABC in New York City, is it distributed in MPEG-2 720p? Or in another format? Then how does WABC distribute their signal to cable companies? Is the signal decoded and re-encoded, or does it stay in the original format?
I just moved from Telus to Rogers. I want to enable Wi-Fi Calling but when I try to enable it, it says "To allow Wi-Fi calling on this account, contact Rogers."
Is that typical?
Last week I cancelled my internet and cable TV accounts with Rogers and I was free of Rogers for the first time since at least 1993. I went to Ebox for internet and now cable TV provider.
Today my company switched cell phone providers from Telus to Rogers. So I was free of Rogers for less than one week.
I am sending the set top box, power cord and remote. Do I have to send back an HDMI cable? I don't remember if the boxes came with a cable.
I have signed up for Ebox internet and I get 1Gbps bidirectional internet for $50.I don't need cable TV anymore. I am currently paying Rogers $280/month for 500/30 internet and Cable TV with four boxes. I called Rogers last night to cancel and they said "Our systems are down, call back tomorrow"
I call back today and I have to spend 15 minutes arguing with the agent to cancel the service. She is trying to convince me that Rogers' 1Gb service for $100 is better than Ebox for $50.
Free at last, free at last. Thank God almighty, I am free at last.
I take the LE past here every day and there is a ton of building going on. It looks like they are now building the platforms, including overhead shelters. I thought that we are still many years from opening, and that the earliest opening date was 2028.
Apparently LE trains will stop there, but will every train stop there? This will add a few minutes to all existing stations on the LE and Stouffville lines.
I am a UWO grad and my daughter is just about to start at Kings. I have an RESP that I am going to use to fund her education. I need to provide TD Waterhouse with proof of enrolment.
Does anyone know what they used as proof of enrolment?

What's the purpose in having a round stadium like the one that was used in this game. Do they play cricket or some other sport there? Otherwise it seems sub-optimal for football or rugby.
In the first half of the France - Australia game a French forward got a yellow card right in front of the posts less than 10m out. Australia chose the scrum option. On the ensuing scrum the French got a short-arm penalty for an infringement - I think it was pushing early. Karl Dixon said that you can't take a scrum.
How is it fair that France can infringe and get an advantage in that they negate the scrum option from Australia? Why wouldn't teams start to intentionally infringe like that in the future if they don't want their opponents to have a scrum?
I know that you can get a full penalty for multiple infringements, but this still doesn't seem equitable.
When you go to the TD online banking site and look at your account for interac transfers you will see something like "SEND E-TFR ***81a $150". To see who the payee actually is you then have to go into the Interac etransfer page. There you see it says something like "John Smith $150"
Why can't they show the name of the person in the actual account page? That would be SO much more useful?
Watching the Canada - Morocco game right now and both keepers are from Quebec. As is Zoreaux (aka Van Damme) the goalie for Richmond AFC.
I am in France and have taken the TGV from Paris to Bordeaux and back. This is about the same distance as Toronto to Montreal but the TGV is supposed to take about 2:10.
I had first class tickets. The TGV is pretty good although the return trip was an hour delayed.
But there is no freakin’ service on the trains. On VIA One you get a meal at your seat. Want food on a TGV? Schlep to the food car and get pre-packaged crap. The food in France is amazing but it is pretty much non-existent on the trains. I was expecting to get a nice meal at my seat with some good French wine.
Also there are less staff than VIA, like no one to help you with your bag. And not enough room on the car for baggage.
I am surprised to say that other than speed, taking the train in Canada is a better experience than the TGV in France.
Le Creuset doesn't sell these as a pair, but they really should. I had to buy them individually. Christmas shopping is now partially done:
I just got a Kobo reader. I want to be easily be able to add books to my reader without having to plug it in. I installed Nickelmenu and am using that with Google Drive, but this seems kind of klugey. Why doesn't the Kobo natively support wirelessly adding books through something like Google Drive?
Are there tools that I should be using to manage my Ebooks? Does something like Calibre make sense?
I will be using some public domain books, like Project Gutenberg, and will also want to add stuff like PDFs.
edit: I have a BW Clara that I just bought (in Canada).
Like seriously- in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty six, the pitching coach walks over to a phone on the wall to call the bullpen?
Surely they could text the bullpen coach? Or have wireless headsets.
But instead they are using 1940s technology?
