How am I supposed to love my enemy, the bigot?

I'm very queer. I'm also old enough to have fought for many of the rights we queer people currently enjoy. And I've fought long and hard won battles against a lot of hatred in my day. So I ask, how am I supposed to love the people that would do me and my people harm? How do I love as He taught when I still feel like they'd hunt me for sport if given the chance?

Praying the Rosary every day for St Michael's Lent. Sorrowful Mysteries observation

I was saying the Rosary and since it was Tuesday, it was the Sorrowful Mysteries. And for one reason or another I rarely pray the Rosary on Tuesdays. So this was a new experience. I couldnt help but marvel at how Christ's Sorrowful Mysteries mirror so much myriad human suffering.

The Agony in the Garden shows Christ in emotional turmoil and grief

The Scourging at the Pillar puts Him through physical agony.

The Crowning of Thorns puts Him through mockery.

The Carrying of the Cross is pure exhaustion and a knowledge of impending dread

And His Crucifixion and Death (obviously) show us mortality in its most brutal form.

I'm sure wiser minds than mine have already written on this, but it hit me and I thought I'd share.

What is a good Playlist to learn about the Diaconate?

I spend a lot of my day listening to podcasts and audiobooks. Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations for things one should listen to if one was considering entering discernment for the Diaconate.

My church donated to my gender affirming shopping spree!

Every year for the past 6 years, I've taken queer youth from around my area, paired them with drag performers, and then taken them on an all expenses paid gender affirming shopping spree for back to school clothes. Usually I get grants from teachers unions or LGBT nonprofits, but this year grants are few and far between.

So my priest is donating a bit of money to make sure queer kids can get the clothes to make them feel seen.

That's embodied Christianity.

My priest found people hating on my sermon in the interwebs

I had a meeting with my priest today and he was nervous to tell me that my pride month sermon that I did as a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence got some traction on the right wing Facebook and Twitter world.

I hope every queer that did a pride sermon (or who does sermons on other days) knows how much space we occupy in the mind of some interesting people.

By request, here is the sermon. Its not very good. Its just gay enough to rustle some Jimmies.Sister Eva Lynn Goode Pride Sermon. Proper 7.

Edit2: It seems my order is not as widely known as our egos would like to believe. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are an order of queer and trans drag nuns that work to heal the harm inflicted upon the queer community. We do not mock nuns. Our drag is an art of reverence that a number of people in thread have confused with some kind of burlesque. We do, however, call out religious people who do not see Christ in the least of these. We work to feed and minister to the homeless, we always carry NarCan, we raise money for and care for people with HIV/AIDS, we wrote the first safe-sex pamphlet in the WORLD targeted towards gay men. Suffice to say, we put in the work. We take vows to serve our community by promulgating universal joy and expiating stigmatic guilt.

I said the Rosary today

And felt Her true and divine presence with me. It was pretty awesome (in both the classical and modern way).

Praying the Rosary

I have been off and on praying the Rosary for the past 8 months. Just when I could get the focus to do it. Every freaking time it is amazing. I feel a real presence as I lose myself in the middle of a Decade. I really want to get into a habit of doing it more regularly. It only takes about 15 mins.

Why did the Paddock close?

I'm looking for gay bars in ENC and I hear there used to be a bar here called the Paddock back in the day. What happened to it? Why did it close?

Pope Dimentia the Last of the SF Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence was an activist, a legend, and a godfather of the SF queer community. He spent his last night at ELECTROLUXXX dancing the night away.

Edit front SF Sisters: Rest in power, Pope Dementia The Last (1934–2026).

With deep love and tender hearts, we say goodbye to one of our own: Pope Dementia The Last, our cherished “Popie.” His presence in the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence was nothing short of radiant, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the joy of knowing him.

Popie’s journey with the Sisters began decades ago, alongside dear friends who became chosen family. For over 40 years, he shared in the magic, mischief, and mission of the order, building a life rooted in friendship, purpose, and fierce compassion. And he partied until his last day, literally.

He was truly one of a kind: bold, glamorous, and endlessly vibrant. Popie embraced life fully, with a love for travel, culture, and beauty in all its forms. His career reflected that passion, from co-founding a record label that brought Sylvester’s music into the world, and even in his later years, continuing to connect with people through the simple joys of a bookstore.

His legacy of service is just as luminous. Through his work with the Sisters and another nonprofit he co-founded, he opened doors for young people to experience art, film, and culture, creating moments that expand hearts and minds.

Popie lived with a spark that never dimmed. Even at 91, his energy, wit, and spirit could light up a room. Just the night before he left us, he was exactly where he loved to be: on the dance floor at the Electroluxx party, surrounded by community, music, and joy. That’s how he lived: fully, fabulously, and on his own terms.

The memories we shared with him are countless and precious. He was a friend, a sibling, a force of nature, and he will be missed beyond words.

Fly high, dear Popie.🩷
