What to get from Paris that is not designer bags or clothes?

Hi all! My husband is traveling to Paris in a few weeks. I’d love to give him a list of must haves to get for me. I am not much into designer bags or clothes at the moment. But I love skincare and makeup. I also love quirky little things and books. We also have a little toddler he’d like to get something for. Please give me your best souvenirs that fit the bill. Thank you so much!

Ice cream truck?

An ice cream truck just went by our neighborhood and drove away before we could get one. My kid is super disappointed. Is there a schedule or an Instagram page that I can check to be on the lookout for the truck? Thanks!

Daycare sleep for a baby used to feeding to sleep

Hi! My almost 1 yo has always fed to sleep. He hates the feel of anything plastic or silicone in his mouth so he rejected a bottle and pacifiers. He has always fed directly at the breast. Thankfully I live in a country with a decent maternity leave so this has never been an issue.

Now that he’s getting closer to 1 year, I am looking into starting him at daycare/Montessori school. He still takes two naps, one at around 11 am and another at 3:30-4 pm. He will sleep if rocked or patted but normally at home I just feed him and he falls asleep fairly quickly while feeding. The daycare I am looking at is very child routine friendly at this age. They will rock/pat or bottle feed and they have a dark room with white noise for naps. My baby didn’t take nipple bottles but he does drink from sippy cups.

What should I do? Should I slowly transition him from feeding to sleep? I could give him pumped milk from a sippy cup then rock him to sleep. Any help appreciated!

Cosleeping experience when traveling?

My LO is 11 months old. My husband and I used to travel a decent bit before we got pregnant. We decided to take our time feeling comfortable with our baby’s schedule before resuming travel and now we do. We’re taking a family trip in a few days to meet up with some cousins. We will be at a large Airbnb for 5 days. My husband and I will share a large bedroom with our baby. It has a queen bed and a twin bed. The idea is that my baby and I will share the queen and my husband will be on the twin.

My baby has always coslept. He slept in a bassinet in our bedroom when he was younger and now we bedshare on a floor bed. How do you deal with a bedsharing situation when you’re traveling. The setup I described above seems great to me other than that it won’t be on the floor. My baby moves around a lot in his sleep and I’m afraid he’ll fall. That means I will be sleeping very lightly for the 5 days that we’ll be there. I’ll have to have my body around him the whole time and I’ll probably wake up every time he stirs, which is a lot.

Does anyone have a better solution? I looked at the layout of the room and it seems like I can push the bed against one of the walls and prop up some pillows against the wall to prevent my baby hitting his head on the wall in his sleep. That’ll give me some peace of mind. Also, we’re driving so potentially I can pack and bring some stuff (I’m thinking pool noodles etc) to make our life easier.

I’m open to any suggestions. Thanks so much!

Trying to spruce up my entryway. Which one looks best?

This is the space on the right side of the entryway. The door will open over this space. The opposite side of this wall has a wooden bench with white cushions and a wooden coat rack and shelf above it.

I am fairly certain that I like the table. I’m having trouble picking a mirror. This is AI generated based on the pictures of the items I like. The frames on the right are already hanging in that spot. I’d like to keep them if possible. But open to all suggestions. Thanks!

How do I tame my Pachira Aquatica?

I have this “Money Tree” that I got from Costco about 3 years ago. It’s grown very tall now, it was only about 2 feet when I got it. It has a braided stem at the base. I like this spot for it and clearly the plant loves it. But it’s growing wild and being quite a hindrance on the stairs here. How can I tame it? I’m open to pruning it short if required. Can I continue to braid the stem? How do I do that? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Updating maternity leave on LinkedIn? [on]

Hi moms who also have corporate careers! Did you update your LinkedIn to show the time you were on maternity leave? I was at my current company for just a few months before going on maternity leave. I want to find a new job now, I’d prefer not to return to my current role. I will be honest about the actual amount of time I spent at my current company during interviews but I wonder if I need to update my LinkedIn to show it as well? I just feel like having a baby is a very personal thing and I don’t necessarily want everyone in my professional network to know.

Bed rails for mattress on the floor

I cosleep with my 9 month old baby. I am usually a very alert sleeper and know when my baby is moving or restless. But last night he managed to crawl out of bed and go a little distance away twice without my waking up. He started to cry both times and that’s how I woke up. Even though we have baby proofed our bedroom fairly well, it scares me that my baby could crawl out of bed without my knowing. Are there any bed rails or any protective measures I can take to prevent this from happening? Thanks!

Do I need a permit for this?

I have an existing wooden deck in my backyard. I am considering extending it on one side about 60 square feet. It won’t be attached to my house but it will be attached to the existing deck. The city of Burlington website does not have clear guidelines for this. My contractor says there is no permit required. But I want to be sure before committing to the project. TIA!

When do you shower/take a bath? How many times in a day?

I’m just curious about this. I grew up in a city that has mildly hot and dry weather. I always showered before I left home and didn’t necessarily shower at night. What does everyone else do?

Song recommendations for babies that aren’t annoying

My baby is just about to turn 8 mo and he loves listening to songs. I have heard from my friends that they can only play nursery rhymes in the car now that they’ve had a baby. I do not want to be that. My husband and I love music as well and we’d hate to have to listen to only annoying nursery rhymes.

So any recommendations for songs that babies enjoy? They may not have to be songs meant for kids. So far my baby enjoys these songs. I’d love to compile a list, maybe a Spotify playlist? Thanks so much!

The Happy Song by Imogen Heap
Macarena by Los Del Rio
Elephants have wrinkles by Rainbow Songs
The Show by Lenka
Give me food by Makayla Malaka
Everything at once by Lenka

Stumbled upon this sub. Could anyone enlighten me?

I was looking for something else and stumbled upon this sub. Could someone please enlighten me on how you came upon witchcraft? Did you learn from somebody or just did your own research? How did you begin? I feel like I am a fairly intuitive person and I am sensitive to the energies around me. I am curious about this but do not know anyone into witchcraft. At least not openly. Thanks!

What’s causing the 5 am wake ups?

I had posted here a few weeks about a rough phase we were going through with my 7 mo. I got several really helpful comments and based on those I started capping his naps. We are at 2 naps a day now with a total day sleep time of 3 hours. We usually start our sleep routine around 7:30 pm and he’s down by 8-8:30. For multiple days now he’s been waking up at 4:45-5 am fully awake seemingly. Then he gets sleepy in an hour and will want to sleep again for a couple of hours. What could he causing this false start? Please help!
