I'm fabricating some stuff for my truck and just want to know if I'm missing any obvious tells from these. To me they look ok, but I'm the farthest thing from a pro lol. Last couple pics are a goof with the cup and my first test welds as I learned the settings. Then I tried the small circles method and was happy with how they're looking. I tried beating on a test piece with a sledge and couldn't get them to separate, just bent above the weld.

Hi all, just learning how significantly bad the air quality near a highway can be and looking to make some changes. Yes, I understand moving is the best option, but until that can happen I need a gap solution.

House is a 3 story town house, 2,200sqft, two separate air handlers (forced air), high ceilings (10ft minimum, 15ft maximum. Air filters on returns and input (2 filters per air handler). Two medium sized dogs. We have a robot vac on each floor vacuuming daily and mopping twice per week.

Budget is, "please don't light my wallet on fire I'm just trying to breathe". I don't have a good basis for what's reasonable here, does under $500 get me anywhere? If not, under $1k?

Hey all, recently spent an ungodly amount of money buying and trying various pants. I'm looking for something that isn't too heavy but will stand the test of time for camping and adventures. I bought a pair of the Fjall Raven G-1000's and they're nice but I seem to be in the middle of their sizing. Before I bring a larger pair to a tailor I figured I'd ping the crew here for input.

I kneel down a lot, so knee pads or thicker knee areas are pretty important. All input appreciated!

Hey all, looking for a process check and wondering if there is a specific product I should get for stripping caked on mud and dirt from the underside of my truck?

I don't mind it being dirty year round, it rarely even gets washed, it's a $5k dedicated trail rig. But I am going to apply Fluid Film ahead of the winter season and want to get it as clean as possible before I do so.

My usual process for something like this is:

- Soak and pressure wash to loosen as much dirt as possible

- Foam down with a diluted mix of simple green, allow to soak

- Pressure wash again to remove anything loose

- Foam with soap, I usually just use Meguires Gold for this (I save the expensive stuff for the nice cars lol)

- Mechanical agitation with brushes, using 2 buckets for rinse

- Pressure wash to rinse, spot clean as needed then coat with fluid film once dry

Hey all! Been doing my best ("welds" in the pic are my first to most recent) with a cheap flux unit from harbor freight. I'm looking to do some very basic, non-structural fabrication on my truck.

Looking to upgrade to a slightly better unit in the hopes of having less splatter.

Has to run on 110 as 220 is not an option for me, budget under $400. I'm eyeing the Arccaptain MIG200 or MIG200P looking to try gas with solid core. Full steam ahead on these or are there better options in my range?

I have an ARE CX that I got for ridiculously cheap, though it is not quite heavy duty enough for supporting a RTT on the go. The CX-HD is, however, and has an internal frame made of extruded aluminum to manage an increase in capacity.

My plan is to replicate the HD frame myself. I've already picked up the extruded aluminum sections, and fabricated 1/4in thick angled aluminum brackets to connect the upper supports to the side supports. The side supports will also get tied into the gear track in the bed of the truck for extra strength.

At this point I'm fairly confident in my plan but I am curious if anyone else has done anything similar to increase the load rating of their cap. Would love to see other ideas and efforts in practice, and to hear about long term results!

Hey all, picked up my first AR and went with a Geissele Super Duty MOD 1 16in. I absolutely love it, but wish I had gone with a slightly shorter rig, especially now that it's suppressed. What's my best route for this, economically speaking, while maintaining close to Geissele quality?

Hey all! Trying this again since my last post was removed, yet I see many others posting similar format questions and getting great advice, so I've added some more details in the hopes I can get some help (or at least guidance on what I need to change). I purchased a cheap clamshell as a proof of concept and now want to expand to something a little more fit to my needs.

I am looking for a RTT that will comfortably fit 2 people and 2 dogs (medium sized, around 40lbs). Below are some criteria that I'm looking to meet:

- Must be 4 season or have a heater port. I camp in the dead of winter when it's sub freezing and snowing

- Large enough for 2 people and 2 dogs

- Able to withstand occasional hits from branches while off roading

- Ideally not too thick when closed, as it will be on top of my already tall truck

- Price range is sub $2,000 and I am completely ok with buying used

- Ability to mount solar on top is a bonus

I'm not sure if a hardshell is strictly necessary for protection from branches and the elements, but I would prefer it since it'll be on the truck full time and parked outside. Truck is a dedicated adventure rig so this will not be on a daily if that influences anything. Any other tips or advice appreciated as this is my first dive into RTT's!

Hey all, I posted up looking for a new tent and have settled on the Gazelle T4 Tandem.

Overall reviews are great, but there's a surprising amount of people reporting issues with rain penetration, some reporting tearing at pole cups, and some reporting rust from the steel poles.

I'm wondering if anyone here who has used one of these tents extensively has experienced these same problems, and if so, how did you resolve them? At $700 I'd like this thing to last!

Hey all! Just found this community and excited to poke around. I'm in the market for a new tent for my partner and I with our two medium sized pups. This will be just for car camping, so it doesn't need to be backpacking friendly. Looking for something easy enough to put up and take down that will be good in most seasons, have a dedicated cold weather setup for sub freezing situations. Budget is fairly flexible, not opposed to spending money on something that will last.

edit having a screened porch area is a huge plus!

Not new to shooting but up my first AR recently and ordered an OCL Infinity 556k to go with it. All of my research points me to a Rearden Plan B and SPB muzzle device, but I can't find the muzzle device in stock anywhere.

What can I use as an alternative, and is there anything else I need to purchase in order to install?

The sod seems to be doing well and growing, but is not fully rooted in all areas. Some people say to cut early, some say not to touch it. We've completely revamped this little yard over the last 2 weeks, I just want to try and give the grass the best chance of success.

For some background on how we installed:

-Cut down all grass and weeds from before and removed weeds by hand as possible (chems not allowed here)

-Tilled entire yard 6-8in and removed organic matter

-Added 10-10-10 mix fertilizer and some topsoil

-Put down sod and rolled

Have been watering it every day in the mornings and when it's extra hot again in the afternoon.

Picked up my Geissele Super Duty yesterday and took it for its first outing today. Wildly good out of the box.

Is it worth getting a HUXWRX can to fit the current muzzle device, which seem to be $$$$. Or should I get a different muzzle device and something else? I'll likely end up with a FRT so durability is important.

Also open to any other suggestions on what to do with this thing.
