My storage locker in the basement got flooded today.

A lot of rain fell in Bern today and perhaps broken drainage / leak cause a minor flood in the basement leaking into the storage rooms.

My room got soaked and all the cardboard boxes and some other stuff git absolutely waterlogged.

A guy from the apartment block brought a water suction machine and cleared up the common areas. I cleared my room and used the machine to suck up all the water.

The agency for my apartment block says I should contact my insurance for the damaged items and loss.

But I guess total damage has been max 150 chf plus an afternoon wasted running around and clearing the mess myself.

As excess is 500chf will i have to cover all my own costs ? Even though non of it was my fault and I cleaned it up myself

I spent 1.5 hours slowly watching the video and step hy step trying to produce good soldering joints but still very dissatisfied.

Option 1: Desolder everything and start fresh. high risk that I could damage the tonearm wires.

Option 2: Cut the DIN wires at the terminals and solder RCA wires to the remaining DIN stubs. not very pretty but Very low risk to the tonearm wires. electrical performance???

Option 3: Cut the DIN cable 10 cm away and splice RCA cable to it. Safest of all.electrical performance ? sonic risk ?

I have these capacitors in my cyrus 2 vintage amplifier which obviously show signs of major degradation . fortunately the amplifier did not blow up when I plugged it in. sound quality is pretty bad. I could send the amplifier away to the UK to get recapped. A lot of audiophiles suggest only changing failing parts in order to retain the musical signature . I have absolutely no electronics components experience and I don't want to destroy this amplifier which I would like to bring back to service.

I want to connect my Dual 1015f turntable to a mono tube radio using a Phono preamplifier.

of course I will modify output from pre amplifier as a mono 3 pin din into tube radio which has the facility for input.

is this project worth attempting? will i get the mono tube warmth sound i am looking for ?

The outer white plinth has some chipped corners, and I want to refresh it.

​I cannot afford to hire a professional paint or furniture shop as their standard bench fees are way too expensive for my budget

I dk t feel comfortable using spray paint as I always mess up. I don't want to use vinyl covering which seems like a popular suggestion.

Is it really possible to paint it using a fine High-Density Foam Mini-Roller ?

I need a really smooth off white matt finish normally seen on self build kitchen cabinets or bedroom furniture

​I am slowly renovating a vintage turntable (Dual CS 21) for myself as a personal project. The outer white plinth has some chipped corners, and I want to refresh it.

​I cannot afford to hire a professional paint or furniture shop as their standard bench fees are way too expensive for my budget. Because of this, it has to be a strictly low-cost, informal DIY job.

​It is just the empty, square outer shell—completely stripped of all electronics and mechanics. I will handle filling and sanding the chipped corners flush myself, so the surface will be 100% prepped and ready for paint.

​I'm just looking for a clean, simple solid color finish (matte/satin white or black). If you are a local hobbyist with a spray setup, do DIY painting in your garage, or work at a body shop and could slide this in next to another project for a cheap cash-in-hand / bottle-of-wine rate, I would be incredibly grateful!

I've been watching lots of YouTube videos regarding the maintenance of soldering iron Tips.

I see that most of them leave a clean silver thin coated finish on the tip.

Ive seen people wrapping the solder around the tip and watching the excess fall off or even just application of solder to get a fine coated finish

I just get blobs on the end ...

help a brother out .... please 🙏

i am a complete novice and not much experience with turntables.

I have been trying to self service a dual 1015f . everything is working.

I set the tracking force to 2.5 and anti skating to 2.5

however the vertical tracking limit, I am worried about.

if I set it wrong will it put more pressure on the vinyl and wear it out ??

any help would really be appreciated
