ngl i wanna move out in the future

I want to keep this short ngl, just a small rant because i just think it's so frustrating constantly working hard and "upskilling" because we are so replaceable in this competitive, crab + herd mentality country

But, I'm in jc rn and I see the outlook of Singapore and several events happening (people rushing to board the mrt, rowdy + uncivilised kids and parents justifying them, stressful education (GOD SAVE ME from elite jcs im in one), people constantly putting others down, jealousy, etc) and other stuff that makes me lose faith in society (TFR discussions, rising costs of living, growing division between people, more grumpy people, deforestation for the sake of building manmade infrastructure, BTO prices (resale or not) rising + married people prioritised, jobmarket threatened by AI and older gens (what j see) actively advocating FOR AI, telling us to have "lower standards and be more hungry" when we barely have the bare minimum wage for a comfortable life these days (TLDR its just telling you ppl are willing to hire cheap foreign source who grew up with low wages in their countries and are willing to take cheap labour here because our money converts to a lot of money in their HOME COUNTRY but for us our home country is SINGAPORE), lower empathy, "sinkie pwn sinkie" mindset etc

I'll be fr rn I'd much rather move out to live with a slower pace of life after earning money in Singapore during a bunch of my adulthood years, even if I have to sacrifice some stuff like efficiency.

I just think singapore is good for worklife and not life-life iykwim, taken from someone who once posted that singaoore is good for earning money before leaving.

"Research Program" results

So, I heard rhe news and the talk going around about not joining high school students led research due to lack of credibility so I'd like to share my experience

There was a program i attended, it was an economics research programme (SISTER research programme by synthica), paired together with Youth Economy lab and the whole process was messy, we were supposed to havw mentor meetings on several days blocked on our calendar schedules but there were several times where no one showed up. I will not doxx any names here but the organisers would also reply pretty late, and most of the time it will take a while for a response. The programme lasted for a month, but the team allocations took more than 2 weeks, as there were also larpers and people who wouldn't cooperate. My team and I were quite lost and some teammates wouldn't respond at all, overall the process is very messy and we don't have much guidance at all, many members were lost, with one even complaining that they woke up at 5AM or something

I do understand that the organisers may bbe busy, but not going to lie I just wish that I had proper guided reaearch that wouldn't be so costly (like some course fee of 2k-5k) and actual mentoring because I genuinely have a passion for economics and I really want to do research on behavioural economics. It just really demotivates me since many of my friends pay to win too in their own expensive research mentoring , the ones that I can't afford...

Is rushing to board the MRT normalised now?

Hi, just asking this question here since there's a lot of people who rush to board the mrt without letting commuters alight, so it ends up being clustered horribly. Why are people this impatient though?

One other thing, normally on the LRT, people will rush and squeeze regardless of how full it was, this morning someone had to be pushed out in order for the doors to close. I didn't think the situation was this serious till I saw that, so... it's concerning

Looking for interested waitlist users for my student-focused app!

Hello everyone, I'm currently a highschool student with a small team that is trying to build a website app to help other highschool students, and I'm seeking interested students to be on my waitlist for the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) testing and feedback any suggestions/ideas to me before the final website comes out!

To start off, the issue that I noticed among highschool students after interviewing and surveying is:

- frequent burnout and feelings of unproductivity

- opportunities not communicated properly by school, heavily dependent on networking and extensive research

- issues with scheduling their ideas/days, planning their workflow without overwhelming themselves

Which is why I'm building an app called Reflectra, meant to be a productivity app but different. This one, compared to the gazillion ones out there, has a compiled place of:

- opportunities based in Singapore (internships, competitions, hackathons, etc)

- resources for further learning

Which can be sorted by start date, country, location, subject, alphabetical order, deadline.

- allows students to learn and revise in terms of playing short games (MCQ challenges without time constraint, reorder, etc), which prevents them from feeling more overwhelmed or burnt out

Initially, this project focused on Singaporean students, then worldwide, but I have decided to start smaller by focusing it on A Level students first before expanding outwards, if more students are interested :)

I've presented this idea at a Hackathon, network event, and a pitch event before, got some feedback and improved on them, specifically the usability of the website and whether students will continue using it. To address this, I've designed it so that the website is easy to understand and navigate, reducing any excess unnecessarily time for problematic navigation, and I believe and hope that the added features will encourage students to use the application continuously so they can save time on having their productivity templates/notes scattered everywhere, save their energy on extensive opportunity research by having everything in one place.

As for now, anyone can use the website as this app is designed for students in general. However, we do have a few test features to address the burnout part for just A Level students for now with some H2 subjects, and we will add more later on, trying our best to expand.

If you are interested in being on the waitlist for the MVP (beta tester) or the final product, do drop a comment here in this post or a DM! Feel free to ask any questions <3

However, if you're interested in joining this project, feel free to comment/DM me too. I'm currently looking for a few interested individuals to expand my idea and collaborate together.
