Nord suddenly broke today

All the sudden, Nord is screwing up. I can successfully connect, but firefox says server not found. Doesn't matter which server in Nord, the killswitch is not on, and it doesn't matter which protocol. If I disconnect from Nord, the internet works fine. When I connect, it doesn't. I have nord on my phone and it's not causing any issues there, just on my pc running linux mint. Can anyone help?

David Cronenberg in Jason X is amazing

He's in and out, but the line where he states "I want him soft" is incredible and apparently Cronenberg wrote that line for himself.

I died that day

This line from The Princess Bride has been playing in my mind for some time.

In 2020 my partner, lover, friend and mentor was murdered. I really don't feel like anything is real anymore. It's like I died and I'm in hell. How long can a person live like this? It's not fair. Others get to have a life and joy, while my life is at a standstill. I look out through a hazy scrim of dissatisfaction, an insect splattered windshield.

Is there anyone out there who's come back from this? Will I be like this forever?

Why is it so hard to get help?

Everybody is always saying there is help available, but when you try to get that help, it completely dismantles your life.

I am so lost, and I'm just barely hanging on. I'm trying to make the appointments and take care of myself, but proving to other people what's going on in your own mind is near impossible. Then they want the quickest fixes imaginable all while it taking an ungodly amount of time to even hear you out in the first place. Weeks go by feeling miserable and then when you see someone, they don't help. This system is so messed up.

I'm all alone, and I'm probably going to lose my job and then my house because nobody will listen to me. I'm scared. Does anybody hear me? Do I even exist?

Dang, what a run

Lucifer Valentine, McKamey Manor, BAM, Provo Canyon, and now Ideal Living.

Sloppy? Maybe. Heavy breathing? Always. However, it's undeniably that Ben is a freakin warrior who's willing to put everything, including his own well-being, on the line in the pursuit of Truth. I cannot possibly respect him more.

Lofta results turnaround

I just finished my lofta study this morning. How long did it take others to get their email? I'm seeing 24 to 48 hours, but has that been others' experience?

Also, I had a terrible night sleep, and I'm worried it wasn't representative of a normal night for me.

There are no bad Final Destination movies

I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but after just having watched Bloodlines, I can think of no other horror franchise that has the consistency of Final Destination.

First off, I thought Bloodlines was one of the best entries, if not the best. What makes it stand out for me is that all the other movies have individual setpieces, where the chain reaction is contained and resolved with each death. Bloodlines, while it has those setpieces, it also threads in small elements that make full circle arcs across the whole film. The penny, the thread on the hanging pot at Iris's cabin, and the log truck. Not only does the log truck make an initial jump appearance in this film, but it comes full circle from FD2, almost like death was pissed he didn't get to use that one, and he's been saving it for 20 years.

Even though there are ups and downs in the series, I don't dislike any entry. Other horror series like Saw have obvious terrible films, but this one, even though it's formulaic, iterates on the formula enough that it's satisfying and delivers every time.

Like I said, not sure if this take is hot, but I never realized how much I liked this series as a whole until now.

Just completed S04E01

So, real talk. This is bad.

The writing is awful and it doesn't even seem like the same show.

S1 is legendary.

S2 was fine, maybe a little overly meandering, but not as bad as everyone said, just took a while to get into its groove. By the end I was satisfied, if a little underwhelmed.

S3 is back to great. Loved this one. Almost as good or maybe even on the level of S1, but I'd still rank it 2nd best.

Now if you said here is one season of TD starring Colin Farrell and one starring Jodie Foster, I would've guessed I'd like the Jodie one more.

Does season 4 get better? No spoilers please, but damn this is tough.

Do any Twin Cities locations still carry veggie patty?

When I lived in Milwaukee there were a few shops that still offered this item long after it was a standard menu item. Now I live in Minneapolis St Paul area (NW suburbs) and was wondering if anyone knew of locations in MN that carry veggie patty. I love it so much.

Apparently I'm unfit to have a dog

I'm a 38 year old gay man who lives alone. I don't want kids for the numerous reasons I'm sure you all are aware of. I don't even think I want a partner, but if the perfect man came along, he would be thusly perfect because he doesn't want kids either.

This brings me to the issue at hand. I mentioned to my parents that I was thinking about getting a dog. You'd have thought I told them I was planning on robbing a bank. My dad began listing all the reasons why it was a terrible idea, how expensive they are, how they take up all your time, mess up your house, and just in general how I wasn't going to be getting a dog.

I had to explain to my dad that I wasn't making him get a dog. This isn't his decision. The way you're speaking to me is extremely condescending. I will be getting a dog.

I later had an illuminating train of thought. When each of my two sisters told my parents they were having full-on human children, there was zero of this nonsense. Never mind the fact that all those discouragements would be exponentially more problematic for my sisters' situations. My parents wouldn't have dared tell them what to do.

The fact that motherhood was expected and encouraged in my siblings out of some systemic societal obligation, while I was dictated to like a child about getting a dog was pretty offensive.

I'm getting a fucking dog.

Minneapolis Sabes Center JCC whirlpool fixed?

When I was there early yesterday, the men's whirlpool was drained. I'm not sure if it needed a repair or if they were cleaning it. Anyone know if it's open and operational today?

I talked on the phone today

I was sitting here watching TV, in my new home I just moved into about a month ago, and I thought when was the last time I made a call?

I called my buddy from Milwaukee, where I moved from a couple years ago, and got his voicemail. He called me back shortly thereafter and we had a real conversation. It was nice. It had been a while, both since talking to him but also talking on the phone to anyone.

After about 45 minutes we concluded, and I took a call from my other buddy who lives here in town. He called me back from earlier when I tried to reach him as well. He's my best friend from growing up and the only person I'm still in contact with from high school.

This was a bit longer, about an hour, and it was so nice to connect with people. I'm so sick of the texting scrolling passive viewing listening life.

Pick up the phone and make a call. I recommend it.

My opinion has never differed more

Most of the time, I'm pretty in line with Bill's tastes, or CR, Sean, Craig Van. This one, there's such a huge gap between how I feel and the hosts.

Usually I've seen the films before at least once, or often times I've rewatched them a shitload just like Bill: Heat, Big, Boogie Nights, Pulp. These movies are truly rewatchable in line with the original thesis statement of the pod. As a preface, I should say that I had no previous experience with this movie. I watched it for the first time just prior to listening to the Rewatchables episode.

I understand having a soft spot for weird bad movies. Not being able to separate personal experience from larger popular opinion is a huge part of my movie watching experience. I like tons of bad movies where I'm on an island, and nobody else gets it. This pod's love for Eddie and the Cruisers is still just baffling to me.

Firstly, the music is very good. I won't deny that Dark Side is a great song. I'd definitely heard this song before, and I honestly just thought it was a Springsteen song. When the movie kicked up in the first scene, I thought *I didn't realize Springsteen wrote music for this movie.* It's sounds so much like Bruce, it's crazy.

This is a big problem. As CR points out, the space-time continuum in the movie is weird AF. The exact Springsteen sound being huge in the early 60s?? No Beatles?? The entire generation of music that influenced and led to this later sound never happened, and it makes no fucking sense.

Tom Berenger, in this movie, in all movies, is the most bland uncharismatic leading man. In Eddie and the Cruisers, he looks exactly the same 20 years apart. When they flash back and everyone's calling him "Kid", I could not fucking handle it. I was literally yelling at the screen. He was 34, but before I looked it up, I would've guessed 44. He's not pulling off 17 in any reasonable way.

The Joey Pants ending was so obvious, that when it happened, I just completely deflated. I thought maybe something weird would happen and I'd be surprised, but...nope. Most unsatisfying resolution ever. The Berenger yells "go get 'em Doc!" was so fucking cringe.

Anyway, I hate hating things. I'd much rather love this movie, but I just can't do it. I was shocked that every host on the pod was just in love with it. I realize I didn't have the same experience of seeing it repeatedly on HBO, but this has to be one of the worst movies they've ever done on the Rewatchables.

[US] Centerpoint energy - scam?

I just bought a new house and got myself set up with utilities through moveconcierge. I believe this is legit (I hope) that I got set up through remax. They sent me a link to activate my centerpoint energy gas account. Several days later I get email saying the account is set up.

A red flag though: noreply @ centerpointenergy.com is the sender, AND centerpoint.energy @ tmr3.com.

I look up tmr3 and is seems sketchy.

So I go to the official centerpoint site centerpointenergy.com and try to log into my account, but I've never done it before so I need to register, and it tells me I already have an account, so I reset password and it sends me a reset email, again from noreply @ centerpointenergy.com AND centerpoint.energy @ tmr3.com.

Is this legit? I confirmed password reset, because I initiated it from centerpointenergy.com, but seeing that tmr3 thing has me sketched out.

Does centerpoint use tmr3?
