Any beat that samples Nautilus is a win in my book...
Classic...
Did you ever call in and order something? Do you remember what it was?
This beat knocks so hard...
This is lowkey one of my all-time favorite beats...
Sure, people's opinions are important sometimes, especially if it's a part of your job or career but, most of the time, they're not.
How many times has what people might think of you kept you from doing something? Not wanting to look bad. Not wanting to be embarrassed. Nobody really cares except maybe for 30 seconds then they've moved on. And what they think holds no bearing over who you are as a person.
It took until this, my 48th year, for me to really stop letting those internal fears keep me from enjoying this life, the only life I get. Self-love and self-respect matter above all else because they decide how we show up in the world.
This oldie but goodie popped into my head this morning so I thought I'd share it...
Don't let the length of your streak decide your value or how far along you are in your recovery.
If you relapsed today for the first time in 2 weeks or a month or 3 months, you don't just lose that time whe you mess up. I heard somewhere that the cost of a relapse is 10 days of recovery. Clearly that's not an absolute but either way it doesn't strip away all you've done. It doesn't take away the effort. If you've lost 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks and you have a cheat meal, do you gain all that weight back? No. So please relax and get back on the horse right away. Don't let a relapse become a binge.
God loves you no matter what. You've probably done worse in your life than masturbate to porn and He's still here with you. He's not mad at you; He wants to help you. Keep your faith and keep praying. More importantly, keep fighting. Don't let yourself off the hook, but don't beat yourself up about it. Forgive yourself. That's where thinking God doesn't love or forgive you comes from...because you haven't forgiven yourself. If it were your closest friend doing this, you wouldn't be so hard on them, so treat yourself the same way.
I love you, brother (and sister if there are any reading this).
The porn is not responsible. It didn't take anything from you. It didn't cause you to do anything.
If porn wasn't your addiction, it would have been something else.
Take accountability and responsibility for your own situation.
That's the first step. That's where you begin to find freedom; when you realize that you can do something about it.
Stopping porn isn't the solution; it's only the beginning. Stopping porn buys you time and clears your head so you can focus on the real issue, the hole in your life you were using porn to fill.
THAT is when and where the real work and recovery start.
The Carnival was a way better album than I thought it would be...especially this song.
I'm not against the use of GLP-1's, I just can't yet. Not until I can say I did all I could without it.
I know it doesn't happen overnight and that it gets harder before it gets easier but how long did it take to get used to eating low carbs?
Also, what was the hardest thing to get used to? The social aspect? Sweet cravings? Inconvenience of not having bread?
Although I think their work before this was better, this was one of my favorite tracks off their debut album...
