I Watched The Spanish Prisoner (1997)

I haven't watched this in ages despite being a big fan of David Mamet. This is his usual mix of crosses and double crosses as Joe Ross (Campbell Scott) inventor of a 'process' worth mega bucks to the company he works for gets involved with mysterious people and the twists keeps coming.

Steve Martin and Ben Gazzara are on top form. As usual in Mamet films, I wanted more Ricky Jay and less Rebecca Pidgeon. I find her acting less than average and she stands out among the other great actors.

Clive Exton was one of my favourite TV scriptwriters, specialising in adaptations

I love him most for the Fry & Laurie adaptation of the Jeeves and Wooster novels and for his writing for the Suchet version of Poirot (21 episodes), but he also wrote episodes of Rosemary & Thyme and was even a co-writer of the Arnie film, Red Sonja.

I Watched Dead Man's Shoes (2004)

Paddy Considine has his best role here as an ex-soldier who returns to his town seeking revenge. The underbelly of the town and the petty criminals making a living from it are upended by him.

Great cast also apart from Paddy and Shane Meadows the director gets a great performances from his cast. I also loved the locations chosen.

Recent posts with a pic and not much engagement

There have been a couple of these and whilst I don't want to come down too hard on what should or shouldn't be posted, it'd be good if we could post interesting content. I don't know whether it's coincidence that both were of attractive young women.

I don't want to make new rules. Please do report anything that you thinks needs a mod to look at it.

There was a time when you couldn't read the end titles when they flashed across like this. Phoenix Nights did it too

UK Parliament television was usually boring but Dennis Skinner 'The Beast of Bolsover' was always worth watching
