Samsung s25 youtube/netflix micro-stutters

Hello

I'm having an issue ever since I bought this phone where, unless I'm touching the screen, it will periodically micro-stutter every 3–10 seconds when watching YouTube and Netflix.

I took the phone back to where I bought it, and it seems the issue was present on two other Samsung phones, an S24 Ultra and S25. I used Netflix on all three different phones, and the issue was present on all of them.

I've been going back and forth with customer support for 3 months now. At first, they said they would send this report to the development department, and after 15 days, they told me it's Variable Refresh Rate causing it (they admit it) and that it's intended behaviour. As in, stuttering is expected.

I kept asking them to clarify if what I'm hearing is correct. That the stuttering caused by another feature of the phone is expected. They said yes multiple times.

So basically Variable Refresh Rate is misbehaving when media is being played, causing periodic micro-stuttering.(Unless my finger is touching the screen) Anyone would reasonably assume this is a bug because not once in my life have I heard of a phone intentionally having a feature that causes stuttering.

Anyone have any recourse to what I can do next?As reporting the issue to the actual people who made the phone doesn't seem to bring any meaningful results.
I live in the EU.

Question about medium mode

Hello,

I've been using medium mode for over 8-9 years now and over these years and I've always carried over the same file (from chrome. Now on firefox) and as things go I've accumulated a huge number of rules.(Alot of dead sites etc.)

When I started using medium mode almost a decade ago I did it because I heard medium mode can make the browser use less resources and make it snappier.

Is medium mode Still worth it for performance reasons or is it not worth doing anymore (if browser performance is the goal?)

Seriously considering just starting over fresh on default settings but I am a bit attached to my old settings.

Regards

Got email about forced pass key on 1st september. How do i proceed?

I received an email from microsoft they are basically forcing passkey on the 1st of september or else i will be locked out of my account and i am wondering how i should proceed.

Currently i login with an alias email and my password.

I do have my phone attached for text verification when in need but i dont use any other authentification like passkey or any 2fa and i honestly prefer it this way.

How do i proceed to make it i never get locked out of my account and have no issues logging in any device on the 1st of september?

I already have my 1 time recovery code.

My only other option if i understood the email correctly is to remove my phone number so i wont be promted with a passkey and having only to rely on my password and recovery code.

preferably i wish to not rely on passkeys but use a password with the option for text code to login incase somethings happens where a password is not working.

UPDATE:

1.I'm considering using the authenticator bur I am worried about the infamous authenticator loop.Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening if you have only 1 desktop and 1 phone?
2.Seriously considering a Yubico key
3.A good idea might be having both Microsoft authenticator AND yubikey.Question is I don't know if they will interfere with eachother

Laggy scrolling in certain instances since Cumulative Update: KB5099539 windows 10

At first I thought it was just firefox having laggy scrolling but I noticed when I open the windows store its also laggy scrolling when scrolling my own library up and down.(tends to occasionally jump around) was not the case 25 days ago as I remember.

Anyone else noticing something similar?

As far as I can tell this started from today to around 20 days ago which somewhat lines up with the cumulative update.

Edition: Windows 10 Home
Version: 22H2
Installed on: 17/11/2025

Scrolling feels less smooth since Firefox 152.0.5

Since updating to Firefox 152.0.5, I've noticed that scrolling has become noticeably less smooth on certain websites, such as Facebook and even this Reddit page:
https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/1pwha78/element_picker_quick_filter_creation_browsers/

Scrolling now has the occasional micro-stutters/hitches,(mainly with web pages that have media playing at the same time) and even when it's not hitching, it sometimes feels like it's running at a lower frame rate than it should. For context, I use a 144 Hz monitor, so I'm very familiar with how smooth scrolling is supposed to look.

Interestingly, when media on the page isn't playing, scrolling is generally smoother, although I can still notice occasional inconsistencies.

The same websites scroll perfectly smoothly in Microsoft Edge on the same system, with no perceived drops in smoothness or micro-stuttering.

This wasn't an issue on Firefox versions prior to 152.0.5, so it seems like something may have changed in this release.

Suggested communities block element question

Hello,

I was wondering if this is correct,

I right clicked suggested communities>block element to permanently hide it and noticed there is no mention of reddit in the line.

##.xs\:py-0.xs\:px-2xs.my-2xs.py-2xs.px-md.flex-col.flex.nd\:visible

Is this a global filter rule?because it does not mention reddit.

Just out of curiosty I asked an ai and it told me (since I know nothing of filters) that it's a global filter that might effect other sites besides reddit and it gave me this suggestion

reddit.com##.xs\:py-0.xs\:px-2xs.my-2xs.py-2xs.px-md.flex-col.flex.nd\:visible (it works)

Is ublock block element working as intended in this case or is the ai right?

Thanks for the help

Occasional stutter scrolling since 152.0.5 ?

I'm using this thread as I can sorta make it happen most here but I observed it in other sites aswell (seems to be more prevelent if threads show media playing like the link I posted)
https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/1pwha78/element_picker_quick_filter_creation_browsers/
Basically scroll up and down until the scroll stutters.( may look like the scroll is jumping or overshooting)

It does not happen on edge.

I only use ublock origin.
I have tried unnstalling ublock/refreshing/changing drivers but it still remains.

At first I thought it was my mouse scroll wheel being busted but im noticing it aswell if I use auto scroll and scroll up and down. It's not constant but it happens frequently enough where its annoying.(and again,it does not happen on edge)

Video black screen, sound and videos runs.

Current rig.
3080/9900k using ublock origin on default mode.

I've ran into an issue today when watching videos on my PC on a 3rd party site where after I click play the videos starts with audio and i can see the video still going as the timer keeps running but the screen is black.

The thing is on my surface pro 7 the issue plays normally.

Anyone encountered such an issue before?

Samsung s25 netflix stutter unless I touch screen.

I bought a new s25 and I've ran into an issue where youtube, netflix and media players are basically randomly stuttering.

And the only way to make them stop it seems to be to constantly tap the screen or touch the screen. As long as I tap the screen constantly the video will not stutter.

Now apparently this has something to do with motion smoothness. The issue happens both in adaptive and standard. (I believe in standard 60hz is still dropping way to low)

This is obviously a bug.Probably a power saving feature.
Is there a way to stop the refresh rate from dropping when apps like netflix or youtube are being used?

Update:Things tried so far:
1.Clearing netflix cache>restarting phone (did not work)
2.Changing battery setting for netflix from optimised to unrestriced (did not work)

Hardware acceleration time frame specific stutter

For months now (5+ months) I've occasionally run into a really wierd issue.
On certain videos sometimes there's a small hitch/frameskip on a specific time frame.

For example im watching an episode of "from" and at 50:08 there's a brief hitch. If I go back 10 seconds to repeat the scene it happens again.I can repeat this for infinity and it always happens.

When I disable hardware acceleration the hitch goes away.

I'm using basic firefox with ublock origin default settings.
with a 3080/9900k. I've tried 4+ drivers from when I noticed the issue and re-installed firefox multiple times.
Thankfully it's not super common with all videos but when it happens it's annoying.

S25 stutters camera/frameskipping videos on youtube

Issue 1.Erratic camera hitching that doesnt show up when recording.

I have already tried video stabilisation off. When I look at this video on my phone it's hitching at the 3 seconds mark every time.

Issue 2. Frames keep erratically skipping on youtube (1-10) frames at a time sometime.(stats for nerds shows lost frames)through both the youtube app and youtube trough chrome.

My 5 year old mi lite is smoother then this when playing vids and it can barely run. Anyone got a setting to possibly fix this issue?

Because if this how its going to be i might aswell return it

Edit:Things I've tried so far
Maintenance mode:Still happens. Both the youtube frame dropping and the video stutter are the 3 second mark.

Edit2:
One thing I noticed with the stutters at the 3 second mark is that if I make a new video the first time it plays its smooth.
The second time I press the play button it always stutters on my phone on the 3 second mark.Ive tried recording 4 more new videos and playing them to make sure im not hallucinating.
First time it plays=smooth
2nd Time it plays there is a stutter on the 3 second mark.Always

s25 camera a bit jump/hitchy when panning?

Hello,

I just bought a brand new s25 and so far its great except I noticed when opening to take a photo or a video and I turn or pan around the camera hitches or frame skips.
It's very irregular. It seems to happen more when im in camera mode and about to take a picture and move the camera around and the hitching/frameskipping happens eratically but it also happens in video mode at 60 fps just less so.

Anyone else notice this?

Hello,

I just bought a brand new s25 and so far its great,All apps are scrolling smooth except for wolt. For some reason wolt app seems a bit jump when scrolling.
Considering Everything else is scrolling smoothly without a hitch I'm assuming it's something to do with wolt.

Twitch quality changing (firefox)

Anyone as of recently noticing the quality changing on its own when the tab playing the twitch stream isn't in focus?

Normally if I choose 720p it stays 720. It does not change regardless if the tab with the twitch stream is in focus/minimised.It stays 720p because I choose 720p.It's been like this for a decade+

Now today I'm noticing the quality keeps dropping when im not looking.(since I always tend to have a twitch stream in the background)

I am wondering if its possibly a twitch change or a firefox change because firefox had a very recent update to 152.0.1 yesterday and I started to notice this change today.

Phone Budget up to 600€

Can go up to 650€
Don't want used

Main needs:
1.Decent Battery
2.Notification should have no delay
3.Smooth UI/Smooth app no lag or stutters (for years down the line)
4.I don't plan to play any games on this.
5.Longevity.This mobile needs to perform as close to peak 4-5 years down the line (yes I know it's normal for phones especially to degrade over time)

My current phone is a 5-year-old Xiaomi. It started showing performance issues by the second year, and for some reason certain apps are laggier than they should be. So I’m a bit wary of Xiaomi.

Any suggestions?
