This is apparently what the Republican Party has been reduced to?
Of course we ended up next to each other at the next stop light. It's not a race, guy.
It was already widely reported that LA County Federation of Labor has put out ads "attacking" Spencer Pratt, which are clearly aimed at boosting his profile by repeatedly mentioning that he's a Republican and decrying policies which would actually appeal to Republican voters--'He wants MORE police!' (Gift link to LA Daily News article)
This is a cynical ploy to help Karen Bass win by ensuring the top two vote-getters are her and Pratt, in a general election where 55% of the city are Democrats and 18% are Republicans. Who does that keep out of the general? Nithya Raman, who is neck and neck with Pratt, and who would be a more formidable opponent to Bass.
Now there is another so-called attack ad campaign, targeting a candidate who is polling below 5% and has no chance of winning the primary, Rae Huang, similarly decrying her policies that would actually attract leftist and progressive voters who would be most likely to support Nithya Raman: 'She supports public investment in permanent affordable homes!'
The ad is paid for by LA Police Protective League Independent Expenditure Committee (see the Form 496 below).
It's sad that hundreds of thousands of dollars are going into attack ads that aren't even acknowledging the candidate that they want to beat, apparently because they don't have anything on her.
This is like a bad episode of The Wire, if it ever had a bad episode.
Please share this widely, ballots have already gone out and they know Nithya can win.
School is almost out. For teens that are too old for summer camp but too young for a summer job, what options are there? Thanks!
I am shocked. 🙄
From r/AskLosAngeles:
Watch for a question thread to be made tomorrow morning, Thursday May 7th, and the AMA will happen at 2 PM. The plan is to post the thread in the morning to gather questions, and then Nithya will answer them from 2-4 PM.
We'll also welcome more Ask Me Anything posts if there's interest from any other campaign related to the wider city or county or the megaregion that calls itself LA. Just reach out to coordinate.
Will you be watching? I predict Nithya Raman will push progressive policy ideas, Mayor Bass will be good-natured but guarded on her fire response, and Spencer Pratt will yell at the women like he always has on reality TV shows.
EDIT: The debate is tomorrow night, there is a “candidate forum” tonight; sorry for the confusion
There's a debate between her and Mayor Bass tonight.
These are DV, HDV, not great quality compared to what cellphones now record. I will hold onto one for recapturing old tapes if necessary. but what should I do with the others?
