at the same time, discussions mental health and su!cide are important and deserve empathy. we ask everyone to approach these conversations with compassion. blaming or mocking people for struggling with their mental health has no place here, all genders

feminism contains disagreements. topics such as choice feminism, liberal feminism, radical feminism and others are often debated and that's okay. this subreddit exists to encourage learning, unlearning and good faith discussion. not ideological purity or personal attacks

if you disagree with someone's argument, challenge the argument itself. don't resort to name calling, assumptions about character or insults. we're here to discuss ideas, learn from one another and have difficult conversations in good faith. not to tear each other down

See i understand the kinda experiences a woman has to through growing up. They are set into a specific role, They've got no freedom to play!??, They get SA-ed by their own family members. On the flip side, the men go through a different set of experiences all while growing up. But then, the women have outlet to share their experiences, they are vocal about these things. They are emotionally intelligent.

But when a man tries to stand up for himselves when y'all say out a blanketed statement out of frustration "its always a man" an average man cannot all men, God forbid stand up for himself?? you'll shut em up saying you are a r*apist too. Like wtf??  Isn't that systemic social isolation??

I also agree that all the problems faced by women are because of the patriarchy but they have not sense of an idea that men suffer because of patriarchy too?? Think about it!!??

So Eroju emaindi ante , i came across a creator who makes cooking videos. She often cooks wearing a bra, and the camera angles seem intentionally framed to draw attention to her body. My discomfort wasn't because she was wearing a bra I strongly voice out everyone should have complete autonomy over how they dress, and no one deserves slut-shaming, harassment, rape threats, or moral policing for their clothing or content.

What made me think was ,if a creator knowingly uses sexual appeal or camera framing to attract viewers and earn money, how should we think about that from a feminist perspective? On one hand, it's an exercise of bodily autonomy and personal agency and on the other hand, if the content is designed to attract the male gaze, does it reinforce the very dynamics that many feminists critique?

I am unable to land in a conclusion because I don't want to judge or control an individual's choices. At the same time, I wonder whether individual choices can contribute to broader cultural norms that encourage the objectification or hypersexualization of women.

So ikkada na dilema entante how do we distinguish between respecting an individual's autonomy and critically examining the social consequences of certain forms of content? Is it possible to support both without contradicting ourselves? I do know that there is no black and white answer for this. I'm trying to understand where morality lies in this grey area.

Can we criticize a system that rewards sexualized content without judging the individuals who participate in it? What are different feminist perspectives in this case?

The country is a mess. we must keep talking. we must speak up. watch this video. share it as much. Do not let anyone silence you. pls do not stop talking. We can't let this all go into vain.

I'm really fixated on it the past few days, there are no protests in my area. Doing my part trying to spread things as much as possible. First, the media are biased as fuck. Then they block and take down videos online. It is all in our hands, maybe that is the best part about Gen-Z, we are chronically online enough to communicate despite the government trying to block the truth.

But there are all sorts of people at the protest site. Many veterans posted videos in support, the Sikh community has arrived at the main protest site to support. There are professors, teachers, doctors, little kids, old people, parents that came to the protest. Then there are independent journalists on instagram like peektv trying to update us despite the jammers (and videos being blocked), trying to report even when the tear gas was causing them discomfort. Whoever could not attend sent food and medicine. The gurudwaras welcomed the protesters to stay when injured, sleepy, and for food. The masjids opened their doors to clean up the wounds, there was a video of it. There are many lawyers who gave their contacts so that anyone detained can make use of it for free. It is beautiful.

It is indeed beautiful. I am so fixated that it's unhealthy now but there's also a reason why I'm so fixated. I live in AP, it is terrible here. Everyone around me is a right winger. If you go to the Visakhapatnam subreddit, people are still fighting over reservation and hating Sonam Wangchuk, debating on CJP. The AI Data center protesters got detained otw to protest. And I don't know the issue with that one guy who kept being arrested despite getting bail so many times. But it is scary to look at. It's awful here. There's not ONE person that I know irl who shares the same values as me. A person called me "congressi" for saying that I hate bjp. Like what? How does that even make sense? Are they so deep in their bubble that anyone who hates bjp automatically becomes a congress supporter?

I made a post before asking for telugu youtubers that make feminist content. Guess what, couldn't find any. There's good ones on instagram. But on YT? Nope!

I feel so isolated and sometimes I even wonder if I'm too biased, if everyone else is right. It is maddening. Saw a schoolmate who was preparing for some govt exam a few years ago (idk rn), post in support of Delhi police. No one cares about these things here. I'm angry and disgusted. The only feminist people I know are all online. I feel suffocated. I had a homely feeling about this city before, but I'm just disgusted now. And it's not just limited to my city, telugu people in general suck. Desham ante matti kadhu, Desham ante manushulu. This subreddit made me realise that there's still some hope in telugu community. Both women and men.

Edit: yeah female friendships are non-existent to me because they're all conservative here. You know the difference between male and female friendships, there's a deep emotional bond between women. That, I don't have irl.

I learnt of the concept of "iron leg" several years ago. I was flabbergasted when I learnt of what it entailed.

This concept feels very stupid in the context of Telugu Film Industry. You mean to tell me, the actress, who barely has any presence in the film, and is cast to only cater to a particular section of the audience is the true cause for the failure of the film?

I knew of this one guy who was a massive Mahesh Babu fan, he used to spend his entire day on Twitter fighting wars. (Apparently) Since MB's films with Pooja Hegde flopped, he used to comment on posts made by her fan accounts calling her 'panimanishi mokham dana'. (Also don't forget how this reeks of casteism and classism, wtf is panimanishi mokham?)

Another curious case of this phenomenon is the hate Shreyas Iyer's sister has been receiving on her social media platforms, I am a massive cricket fan and have been seeing this drama unfold from day 1. You cannot blame the cricketer's sister for his abysmal performance. Your criticism cannot go beyond 'this video was kinda arrogant' into 'she is so ugly' territory.

The fact that men find it so comfortable to criticize and blame women than take accountability for their own mediocrity is baffling. Maybe, be better and do better?

Yesterday night (we were fairly drunk) my partner and me got to discussing what can improve this country (yes even under influence of alcohol, we know these changes would never happen) but we came up with a basic structure for rules and laws for governance

WITH RESPECT TO MARITAL LAWS -

- Increase marriage age to 25. If you are to deal with family dynamics and parenthood, a minimum maturity age of 25 should be required. This can be altered with future development.

- Mandate civil unions. Any two people who wish to marry must legally have a civil union with agreed upon terms. Ofcourse the religious ceremonies can be performed as per individual/couple rights but it won't be legally binding unless it's a civil union in a court.

- Anyone wishes to end their marriage can get it legally annulled without any contest. Anyone who doesn't wish to stay in a marriage shouldn't be forced to. Kids, property, etc disputes must be settled within 1 month of someone requesting an annulment by both parties. And noone can get a civil union unless prior one is anulled.

WITH RESPECT TO GOVT -

- Any minister who holds a portfolio must have a master's or phD in that field along with 5 years of govt experience. For example, the education minister should have an MEd degree and 5 years experience as a teacher in a govt school or college (any subject, heck, get the PT teacher). RBI governor should have an MCom/PhD in Economics/MA Economics and 5 years experience as a Government bank employee (having passed the banking exams). Defence minister should have served armed forces for atleast 10 years. You get the gist.

- Any minister contesting elections should prove women's safety in their constituencies - the males must dress up as women and walk at night alone without any security with a secret camera crew to show their constituencies are safe for women. This must continue after they're elected. If an independent panel of women cannot seem their place has been made atleast 20% safer in their first year (and more safe in subsequent years), they must be removed from post and blacklisted from recontesting elections for atleast 2 election cycles.

- Each state govt must have seperate ministries for women, LGBTQ+ community and SC/ST communities headed by members who are part of the community and elected by members of the community that answers to a central government department that's hired via UPSC and not a part of politics.

- Any minister should not have dependent children studying outside the country getting their education funded. They can only go if they get a job/full scholarship in a different country.

- Any elected official cannot seek medical treatments in a private hospital. They can only seek medical treatments from a govt hospital.

WITH RESPECT TO EMPLOYMENT -

RN starting freshers salary must be 5LPA. Based on economy and inflation and cost of living this can be Revised every 2 years by people more qualified.

Every position should pay for medical insurance, parental leaves and health coverage upto two years for any employee who has been with that company/govt position for more than 5 years.

Any non corporate labour work - construction, maids, cooks, delivery apps, etc should still have a min wage of 2.5-3LPA. (I don't know how this would work due to multiple gigs and all)

No armed forces employee should carry weapons inside the country or be deployed anywhere inside the nation. Their work and deployment must be exclusively at the borders and they would be provided all the ammunition for that. Retired veterans must be given housing, mental health support and medical aid for free their whole life along with a pension that reflects the cost of living.

We were going to next discuss healthcare reforms needed but we figured nothing would change in this country, esp if politicians actually had to serve the citizens so it's better to sleep 🙈😂

Nenu athaniki mundey chepanu.. we have Washing machine in our home from 15 yrs.. I'm not newbie.. this would be 3rd machine in these 15 yrs adi idi.. last dantlo ee issue undey anduke I'm changing within 5 yrs ani chepa..

Still he continued telling us every basic thing about it.. which is kind off good..

Whereas I'm asking everything about machine.. he's answering me kani malli back to madam indulo miku adi untadi.. blah blah..

All this while My gf didn't even looked interested in Washing machine, aydo nenu unna kabbati pakkana nilchundi.. madyalo 5-10 min call ki vellindi.. back vachaka malli same.. 😑😂

Finally after we left we joked about it..
