Most scenic route from Knoxville TN to Asheville NC?

Will be driving from Knoxville to Asheville in mid-July, and am looking for the most beautiful route. Would you suggest Knoxville - Newfound Gap - Asheville, or Knoxville through Robbinsville and Bryson City to Asheville?

Thank you kindly!

special occasion restaurant in Valletta?

I'd love to take my mother for a very special birthday dinner - ideally somewhere with great food and a beautiful view. Somewhere that you wouldn't go every day. Fancy is fine as I want to make it the best dinner I can for her. Any recommendations?

Saturday morning brunch/midday snack in East?

Have a teen from out-of-town visiting this Saturday and want to take her somewhere fun for breakfast or brunch since it's her birthday. We'll only have an hour around noon and I know that's the busy time for everywhere. I'm pretty familiar with a bunch of spots in East but wondered what people's recs are for somewhere with not too crazy a line, that might feel a little cool and exciting for her. I was thinking The Yellow Table or Turkey and the Wolf but not sure if it'll just be crazy long lines around that time?

How long does it take you to fully unpack and move into and set up a new place?

My partner and I moved into a new house at the start of this month. I'm starting to feel kinda depressed because so far, we've only (mostly!) set up the living room and kitchen. I will say we are particular and take care with decor/arrangements/organization. Our bedroom, guest room, garage, and offices (we WFH) are not yet unpacked and done -- and I'm starting to feel a little dismayed because it seems like other people are capable of moving in totally in like, a week! But in between two jobs each and other responsibilities, with a few hours in the evening/morning, how are people setting up their whole place so quickly?? Am I (and my partner) some freakish outliers??

What do you do when you see the storm coming

My sibling has started upon the evil texts tonight. Disinviting me from their upcoming graduation, saying I’m a bad person (no specified reasons). I predict a big outburst of abuse tomorrow. I’m telling myself I will disengage completely and not respond. But I’m terrified. What do you do when the storm is headed your way?

Interesting knives — found a little info but wondering if anyone knows more (CA, USA)

I picked these up randomly at a thrift store in the Bay Area a few years ago, thinking I’d clean them and use them for special occasions. I now realize I am not a special occasion person (and have very little storage space), so wanted to sell them, but in doing so, realized I know nothing about them! I know the pictures aren’t great because they aren’t in wonderful condition and are hard to photograph.

What I can tell you is there are 5, and I’m guessing they’re butter knives? They appear identical and one has the Lamson & Goodnow manufacturing mark, the rest have the A.F. Towles & Son manufacturing mark. I know these are two old American silverware manufacturers. The handles are very shiny and I wonder if they are genuine mother-of-pearl.

Any more insight from the expert crowd here on when these may date from and what they may be worth, if anything? I see some similar items on eBay, but none exactly like this.

Why are covers so thin these days

It feels like everywhere I go, people have the thinnest covers. Hotels, Airbnbs — these thin covers that are so light they may as well be a top sheet. I hate it. I need weight to sleep. I need to start carrying a weighted or thick blanket around with me but who decided everyone wants to sleep under a half cm thin piece of nothing.

Hi all, I am not sure if this is a thing/service that generally exists, as Google doesn't bring up much apart from pet sitters.. are there vet techs who might do home visits to assist with post-operative care, and if so, how might you suggest go about finding them? We are in NYC, with a dog about to undergo major surgery, and will of course ask our current vet, but just wondering if anyone has any advice on this generally?

We have a senior dog who is going to be recovering from surgery, and we wondered if there are vet nurses/techs who do at home visits to assist in post-operative care. Is this generally a thing, and apart from asking our vet, does anyone know what would be a good way to go about finding such a person or service? Google searching generally doesn't really bring anything up. We are located in a major US city. Thank you kindly.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a vet nurse/tech who does home visits for post-surgery recovery? Trying to look for someone good to help with our pup. I noticed Skoop -- does anyone have experience with them?
