What do you do when you see the storm coming

My sibling has started upon the evil texts tonight. Disinviting me from their upcoming graduation, saying I’m a bad person (no specified reasons). I predict a big outburst of abuse tomorrow. I’m telling myself I will disengage completely and not respond. But I’m terrified. What do you do when the storm is headed your way?

Interesting knives — found a little info but wondering if anyone knows more (CA, USA)

I picked these up randomly at a thrift store in the Bay Area a few years ago, thinking I’d clean them and use them for special occasions. I now realize I am not a special occasion person (and have very little storage space), so wanted to sell them, but in doing so, realized I know nothing about them! I know the pictures aren’t great because they aren’t in wonderful condition and are hard to photograph.

What I can tell you is there are 5, and I’m guessing they’re butter knives? They appear identical and one has the Lamson & Goodnow manufacturing mark, the rest have the A.F. Towles & Son manufacturing mark. I know these are two old American silverware manufacturers. The handles are very shiny and I wonder if they are genuine mother-of-pearl.

Any more insight from the expert crowd here on when these may date from and what they may be worth, if anything? I see some similar items on eBay, but none exactly like this.

Why are covers so thin these days

It feels like everywhere I go, people have the thinnest covers. Hotels, Airbnbs — these thin covers that are so light they may as well be a top sheet. I hate it. I need weight to sleep. I need to start carrying a weighted or thick blanket around with me but who decided everyone wants to sleep under a half cm thin piece of nothing.

Hi all, I am not sure if this is a thing/service that generally exists, as Google doesn't bring up much apart from pet sitters.. are there vet techs who might do home visits to assist with post-operative care, and if so, how might you suggest go about finding them? We are in NYC, with a dog about to undergo major surgery, and will of course ask our current vet, but just wondering if anyone has any advice on this generally?

We have a senior dog who is going to be recovering from surgery, and we wondered if there are vet nurses/techs who do at home visits to assist in post-operative care. Is this generally a thing, and apart from asking our vet, does anyone know what would be a good way to go about finding such a person or service? Google searching generally doesn't really bring anything up. We are located in a major US city. Thank you kindly.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a vet nurse/tech who does home visits for post-surgery recovery? Trying to look for someone good to help with our pup. I noticed Skoop -- does anyone have experience with them?
