Rivian Still Targeting Europe Expansion

Im having an oddly difficult time finding a decent travel agent for a trip we want to take in March for UH.
Everyone I call wants me to leave a message and its been days of not receiving a call back. When I then try to do their online chat, I am given an AI canned response that someone will reach out and still nothing.
These are highly reputable agencies and I cant speak to a live person. Only one agency did respond but the email was so terse and off putting, there was no way I was going to go with them.
Is there a secret sauce to all of this that I am missing?
Unreal. They’re just zooming along at a ~1000 VIN a week pace.
When the new shift starts next month, that average should increase for a while before leveling off.
Phenomenal launch so far!
TL;DR: It’s not as bad as OOS makes it out to be.
Heading to Vermont from Philly and wanted to share what actual road trip efficiency looked like instead of a straight line 70mph jaunt to nowhere.
This was from just outside of Philly to Newburgh NY with a fully loaded R2 (like packed to the hilt full) plus a wife and two kids. Weather was in the low to mid 80’s most of the time with some rain and some sun. I’d say that 90% of this leg was on I-95 North, the NJ Turnpike and I-87 North. Tires are the 21” roads.
Is it great efficiency? No, of course not. Come on, it’s a brick with wheels. It wasn’t built for efficiency.
Is the R2 perfectly acceptable for a family road trip? Omg yes and then some.
And the amount of “stuff” you can pack in a mid size SUV is surprising. While certainly not as much as my wife’s R1S, we are quite pleased with what we can fit.
We also noticed that expected range upon arrival jumped up 5 percentage points along the way, going from 34% when we started to 39% when we stopped.
Welp, add this often accused fan boy to the list.
Charging at a RAN on my way up to Vermont and cabin immediately filled with a smell of sulfur / rotten eggs. As soon as we detected the odor, the RAN stoped the charge.
Tried another stall. No joy. And same smells. No outward damage that I can tell.
Called Rivian and was advised to not drive it. Rental car in hand but still waiting on the tow. Moved kids and luggage to our lovely Hyundai Tucson. Probably a 3 hour set back.
R2 will be towed to Blauvelt SC. Not looking forward to the trip to go pick it up once it’s done.
We are a family of four I am considering getting a vacation rental spot in Fells Point.
I grew up outside the city and lived in Fells Point for almost 20 years. We now live in PA but are still season ticket holders for the Ravens and are in the city a bunch.
Curious what the vacation rental market may be if we were to buy a condo / small house and rent out via one of the vacation rental apps.
Are you making enough to at least offset the mortgage? What kind of clientele are you seeing? I assume business / medical?
Can someone recommend a solid holster with Velcro backing for this beauty?
It will be in a Eberlestock Sling most of the time.
Please and thanks!
Curious if anyone else is seeing this.
I noticed last night in my app that the R2's location was not showing. In the app, its saying I need to turn on Precise Location Sharing in the vehicle. I thought I had it on already because I was able to track the vehicle the day before when my wife was testing it out.
Went to the car and confirmed all the Precise Location Sharing was turned on for both drivers.
Did a vehicle reset and forced closed / open the app. Nothing worked.
Anyone else with this issue?
My wife busted me. Yesterday, I just had to go to Lowe’s to get some stuff for a project I’m working on. This morning, I just had to have a certain kind of bacon for breakfast.
“Are you making up reasons to drive the new car?” she asked.
Busted. Yes, I am. 😂
It’s so fun to drive! Ok, carry on. That’s the post.
Hey gang, heading to a local skate shop later today to get my daughter set up with a board and accessories.
I've been out of the game for a LONG time and need board, set up and accessories recs for her. She's very excited to start skating and I want to make sure we get something that's quality. She is very tall and has larger feet so I am thinking an 8.5 board but outside of that, I have zero idea whats quality out there anymore.
Please and thanks!
Edit: She's 5-10 and 13 years old
We are a two EV house. One has a NACS port, the other has a J1772 port.
Right now, we share a ChargePoint HomeFlex which has served us well. But my wife has been promoted and will be driving a lot more so charging on demand would be more convenient for her.
Considering the Iyilo but they’re new to the game. There’s also the Grizzl-E but it’s plug in only and we almost had a house fire from a previous plug in connection.
Any other brand out there we should consider?
We are surprising our kids with a cruise this Christmas and need ideas with how we can surprise them (ages 13 and 11 at time of sailing).
In the past, we did the Mickey phone call and a version of "hangman / wheel of fortune" on Christmas morning.
Give me some ideas how we can surprise the kids again. Please and thanks!
Our garage freezer died while we were on vacation.
30lbs of various meats, frozen foods, veggies etc all left to rot for over two weeks. Everything has been removed and freezer hauled away. No liquid spilled on the ground.
The smell is still very strong. What can I do to get rid of it?
I’ve already tried an ozone generator, burning incense and smoking a joint or two in the garage. Nothing is working.
My 90 year old Mom is in town and we want to take her out to dinner next weekend.
She’s very hard of hearing so we need a quiet dinner spot for her so we can talk over dinner. She’s pretty open to all cuisines. Would like to stay in or close to the borough but will consider anything within a 15 minute drive.
Send me all the recs. Please and much thanks!
I need help with an incident that I can’t get reported to the right people or get a resolution.
We just got off Millennium after a 12 night Best of Japan cruise. This was a very special cruise for us as it was to celebrate my wife turning 50. Because it was so special, we went top shelf across the board, booking a Royal Suite in the Retreat.
Soon after we settled in, we noticed right away that the premium wines were anything but premium. They were good, acceptable wines but not at the premium level as advertised. I made a funny comment about in our Facebook cruise group, saying something to the affect that the $15 Kim Crawford I get at my local store isn’t what I’d consider premium. An off hand comment in which everyone agreed and that I quickly forgot about.
Later that night, my family and I were at dinner at Luminae. In the middle of dinner, a man we had never seen before approached us mid service to talk to me about the Facebook post. wtf? He identified himself as the Cellar Master manager and wanted to explain to us his wine buying process. My wife and I at first laughed it off and said to him we didn’t want to talk about it. He persisted, became more aggressive and physically opened to the wine list in front of my face to show me what he considers to be premium. We were stunned. We didn’t know how to react and we were now drawing the attention of other customers as his voice rose.
We again tried to deescalate the issue but he kept going. My kids and the couple next to us were now feeling very uncomfortable. I finally told him point blank he needed to leave us alone. He finally walked away. Thankfully, the couple sitting next to us immediately came to our defense, agreed with everything we said and thought that what this manager did was totally out of line.
The next day, we discussed the situation with the Retreat manager. She was very apologetic and assured me that she would address the issue and follow back up with me. Nothing. Silence. Never saw or heard from her again. Tried a few times to get a response but nothing. I sent an email the other day to the ships Hotel Manager. Again, nothing.
I am at a loss as to what to do next. We filled out the survey but there wasn’t a way to explain the situation.
A few thoughts from a 3 day owner ….
Sound: No more hate from me. This last update turned the system from meh to Meridian level good. The bass was simply gone when I first picked up. It now slaps. They still need to tweak the mid range stuff a bit but that shouldn’t be an issue. Also, I think it’s key people use the native apps and not stream from a phone. The Bluetooth compression really does a number on the audio file.
Haptic Halo’s: Love the idea but it’s taking some work getting used to them. They’re super sensitive and I find myself accidentally changing screens when I go to simply trying to pause a song.
Phantom Drain: It’s an issue. Very similar to when I first took delivery of my R1T in ‘22. They need to dial it in and quick. As you can see, I’m losing over 1kw a day and it seems to be coming from a climate control setting I don’t have access to. I’m sure they’ll dial it in eventually but as of now, there’s no way I’m leaving the R2 at an airport unless I can plug in.
Edit: No phantom drain last night. Went to bed with 75%, woke up to 75%. Fingers crossed that’s already been fixed.
Gear Shop: Not directly R2 related but I did purchase the mobile charger kit with saved up referral points. Holy crap, things there have improved. From time of order to receipt of the package was only 5 days!
Overall: This car is a home run. And as a former EU resident for many years, they need to hurry and and start offering it there. They will be an even larger hit in the EU.
Can someone pass along their contact info to me? Had some issues on our last cruise and I am getting push back as to the resolution.
I dont want to put what happened out there until I give them the chance to make it right first.
Thanks
Just a fun thought experiment. I was curious how far Rivian has crossed over in pop culture.
So far, I’ve come up with ….
fleck
Anyone else?
