Roam to residential?

I am building a cabin in a remote area that won’t be finished until December 2027.

I plan to go up there 2 weekends a month until then. Most of the time I will be staying at a friends cabin (no service either), but will occasionally camp at my property which is 20 minutes from my friends cabin.

Option 1: Get roaming starlink until house is finished then convert to residential.

Option 2: Get residential and leave at friends cabin. Can I take it to camp occasionally?

Recommended RV while house being built

I have some land about 2.5 hours from where I live. I’m in the process of building a second home there. Here is where we stand now. Site has city water and sewage, electricity will be finished in 2 weeks. Site for home and barn is cleared, surrounding area for yard will be cleared in next 4-6 weeks.

The home builder says they may pour the slabs this winter but home construction will probably start next summer and be completed December 2027.

Since I have electricity and water, I’d like to get an RV to enjoy the property until home is ready (hunting, fishing, hiking, etc). Spoke to builder about spot for trailer that will be out of the way while they work and there is a good spot.

I’ve never owned an RV. I’m hoping to use it 2-3 weekends a month. 2-4 people at most. There is a town 3 miles away. I’m thinking a 30 ft trailer with slides. 4 seasons there so will need to skirt it.

I may end up keeping it if I like it or just sell it when the house is finished.

Finally my questions are:

  1. Any specific features for my situation I should absolutely get or avoid. Any models?

  2. If I leave during the week, do you leave the heat/AC running while you’re gone? Or better to winterize between trips? I might be able to have a local person check it daily while I’m gone.

Any other guidance or thoughts would be appreciated.

Deeesa vs DSTAgE

Going to Valencia and have 1 night in Madrid before heading home. I lived in Madrid many years ago and try to get back at least once a year. In my older age I’ve become more of a foodie and now try to frequent Michelin restaurants when I can.

I’ve been to DiverXO and Ramon Freixa. I’ve wanted to try DSTAgE but also Deessa. We are staying at the Mandarin Oriental so the convenience factor of finishing a decadent meal then stumbling up to your hotel room is appealing.

Anyone give us a push to one vs the other?

3 day boat charter from Naxos?

Will be in Naxos with family for 8 days next summer. Trying to plan an excursion from Naxos for a few days. Was originally planning an island excursion and was trying to decide on which island. Then after some research about boat charters I was thinking that maybe a 3 day charter to the lesser Cyclades might be perfect for my family of 6. The only company I could find that seems close is Sail Naxos. Just thought I’d ask is this is a good idea and if anyone has recommendations.

Speeding tix in Warren County, Florida driver

Was in a rental car and got a ticket for doing 76mph in 65 zone on 87. Officer reduced to 66mph. Don’t mind paying for the fine but I’ve read if I hire local traffic attorney it can possibly be reduced to non-traffic violation and no points. I’ve read that the 1-10 mph will transfer 3 points back to Florida which will probably up my insurance. Should I just pick a lawyer online?

Which car to trade in?

Wife has a 2021 Audi Q5 plug in. Battery died and it’s being replaced as we speak under warranty. Wasn’t the recall that the 22-23 models have but sounds like same issue.

I have a 2023 Volvo XC60 plug in, no current issues.

We both love the plug in hybrid model as most of our driving is within the 35mile range of a charge, but for 6 months I drive long distances over weekends and don’t usually have charging capabilities so need ICE option.

Will have to haul and tow more so I need a truck.

We want to trade in one of the hybrids and keep one.

  1. Audi will have a brand new battery, not sure if we get a new warranty on the new battery.

  2. Volvo has never had any issues whatsoever but question is, will it?

Asking on Audi and Volvo forums to see what both sides think!

Timeouts? Mound meetings and runners meetings.

Just started watching the NCAA softball World Series and it seems like there are an inordinate amount of timeouts. Much more so than baseball at any level.

Are there limits to how many times you can stop play and consult with players? Am I not seeing subs being made that make these meetings legit?

Small camper for a year

Posted about my situation earlier, and now it has changed.

I have a 300 acre property that I now decided to build a cabin/house. Will be close to a year and won’t have access to electricity or water for that long as well.

Want to access the property for other projects and hunting/fishing so I was thinking about getting a small camper.

Just need for 2 people, place to sleep and get cleaned up. Probably need it maybe 2 weekends a month. There is an RV campground with hookups about 10 minutes away. I can dump there when I need to.

Any recommendations for my situation? I think I will need a generator for use.

Taking advice from the elderly about how to live your life is usually bad advice.

When you hear these studies about interviewing people on their death bed and they say I wish I would have : worked less, spent more time with family, taken more vacations, etc. how do you know that would have made their life better? You are taking advice on something they didn’t do but looking back they think they should have. Maybe them working more, secured a financial future for their children which afforded them a successful life which they always admired?

Better advice would be something like: when I was 30 I had a bad job and decided to quit and start a new company that was much more fulfilling for me. After missing a lot of my first child’s activities I vowed to never miss a thing with my second child and that made a huge difference in our relationship. In these situations you have evidence that the change actually lead to a positive outcome as opposed to what they “think” would their life was missing.

What did I just watch?

First to admit, I have never watched a women’s lacrosse game before. I’ve watched many men’s games in college and more sporadically recently. Nothing on so I decided to watch a the NC VS NW, national championship.

I could not believe how limiting and rule restricted the women’s game is. It was almost unwatchable. There were 2 goal overturns as well for the oddest calls. First where a girl stepped in the crease after the goal was scored and she was pushed into it? Then a defensive girl flails an elbow and the offensive players stick grazed it as she followed through with her shot which tied the game and goal overturned?

I don’t understand the reasons for the rules? Women’s hockey is more or less the same as men’s hockey. Are they trying to protect them?

I chose to watch that game but that will be my last.

Reta dosing

So I’ve been using Reta for 6 weeks now. I’m up to 2mg once a week. I feel it works great for me for about 6 days. It’s probably more in my head but I get hungrier easier on the day I redose.

Interestingly I overheard a woman I work with talking about tirzepatide. She said she redoses when she feels her hunger and food noise return. She said sometimes it’s 5 days sometimes it’s 9 days.

Anyone else dose as needed?
