"if they wouldn't had been greedy then the game would still be alive"

I see top comments here often that are along the lines of "if they wouldn't had been greedy then it would still be alive" which makes me feel weird, because if SG had to do it again, then everyone involved with money would do exactly the same thing again.

Even with player base halving every 6 months and game being now on life support, the amount of money they made from whales and giga whales is beyond what a game with 5x population or 10x longer life span would have made.

And because of that I am not expecting the formula to change for future updates, iterations or clones either. The "greed" is staying and speculating otherwise will just stay as "just speculations" for the near term future.

The full list of everything wrong with Steam Gunz

I see way too many people coming to Discord disappointed and surprised or on this Reddit posting threads about issues, so I thought I'd compile a list so that people know what they're getting into.

First of all the cheats:

  • You will play against an aimbot every 1-3 matches
  • You will play against a blatant massive/rocket/sword hacker every few hours
  • Cheats are posted even on the official Discord public channels that has Steam Gunz GMs + mods, and the cheats aren't getting deleted for days
  • Anti-cheat is very outdated and will not be actively developed, about 98% sure about this
  • Once/if clan wars/leagues are released, the cheating will get way more rampant
  • This was all extremely obvious and to be expected

https://preview.redd.it/v08ovnmas3kh1.png?width=909&format=png&auto=webp&s=313048fe771752543df3fbcc16720b08ea179023

You are also guaranteed to:

  • Disconnect at least a few times per day
  • Most matches will have players in the game, but cannot be seen
  • Most matches will have some players 200+ ping

https://preview.redd.it/a5bkjx58x3kh1.png?width=924&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c425cc9511cff2b6514f00895ad776558e08d6f

Depending on your setup/location/provider:

  • You will have issues with ports and can't play
  • About 30% chance your install will be broken from various issues
  • You will have 2000+ ping in some matches because of Masangsoft's weird network code/lag, never seen it on other Gunz servers
  • Crashes every 5-45 minutes

https://preview.redd.it/nngkb0tjv3kh1.png?width=1102&format=png&auto=webp&s=34c3c38ae85abaf0fd88c2db4e30713401affffe

Communication:

  • There are no GMs or mods talking in the official Discord or any other chat platform
  • There are no official updates or announcements beyond server maintenance
  • There are no roadmaps
  • There are is no social media activity

Content & visuals:

  • There are only mansion quests
  • The UI doesn't work properly
  • The videos are AI
  • The art is AI
  • The 3D models are AI

Although nowadays you can make AI art that looks realistic, this is more something that they put together 1-3 years ago when it looked more uncanny.

The cash shop:

  • Although it's not P2W, it's almost guaranteed to be as it's a Korean developer and old IJJI had some minor P2W elements. It's most likely out yet because the main use for them would be in clan wars.
  • You can buy AI slop cosmetic packs

https://preview.redd.it/n583axmnu3kh1.png?width=944&format=png&auto=webp&s=76d650d47daefb8478123eaa5acaa1a35b8101b3

There are also many other minor bugs like achievements and animations being broken but the post is already long enough and they're not that critical for the gameplay itself.

A revival that was mega hyped and has a massive and loyal fan base who play the game even through it's worst has eventuated with Steam Gunz having already below 800 players online right now - down from 2.2K peak (stopped climbing cause servers crashed) and 1.0K yesterday (Monday) at the same time.

While I was typing this post, I got disconnected from the server while taking pics of the AI shop.

In my opinion the game's fate is already decided, purely from the fact that the developers don't care about the game at all, as they've already done similar revive>milk>ignore>die before with Microvolts on Steam. Additionally, about half of the Steam reviews that are positive are people hoping that the positive ratings will motivate the developers or give the game a chance.

Unsurprisingly, playing with 3,000 ping and AI slop is not fun

IDK how but they managed to make the UI look actually older than 2002

How uneven and ugly it is after 2 years and 5 closed betas is impressive, really.

Your opinion on cheats?

I've actually accumulated a pretty long list of cheats to speed things up like faster battle start, no XP/HP animation, no healing animations, instant text etc. Now fighting 20 battles takes the time of my vanilla 5.

So I thought to myself that I might as well just enable 2x XP cheat instead of having everything appear and load instantly.

BUT.

Using 2x XP cheat would feel too much like actual cheating and the game would be over also way faster.

So I'm conflicted:

A) The vanilla pokemon experience is about 70% loading text and seeing the same battle loading animation for fighting pokemon in the wild is annoying.

B) Using 2x XP cheating feels like I am not getting the real Pokemon experience

Why did they remove the Gunz aesthetic UI styling?

Without exaggeration, this UI looks exactly like the first hour of a new game dev project. The old one wasn't perfect but it had at least some taste.

Why was the original styling removed?

  • Otselend 50 EUR

Miks mitte?

Yellowstone is so bad, I feel like I'm being collectively gaslit by reviewers

2 years since it's over, still one of the most popular shows out there and I just don't get the appeal at all. I've watched episode 1,2,3,6,7 and I don't understand what should I even think about the show?

I kept watching because I couldn't accept that it really is this bad. It feels like a 2/10 show that you watch with your friends to laugh at how bad the show is. Not even nitpicking, just majorly bad.

  • Pretty much everyone is a douchebag through and through - not even fun douches - just bloated ego and a small brain
  • No life lessons, no consistent morals, no cautionary tales, no jokes, no positive or even rational character development
  • No consistent beliefs - John talks about how he wouldn't sell even the smallest piece of land for a fortune and then 10 minute later moans how his son is a failure for being a cowboy and not money oriented
  • All quotes by John are nonsense gibberish
  • Jimmy is constantly being degraded and seriously tortured against his will "for laughs" with lighthearted music where the viewer is supposed to laugh
  • Constantly in grave danger that isn't actually grave danger and the lifelong experienced cowboys are just dumb about nature
  • Extreme caricatures of people who don't exist in real life - a medical examiner who will abide by his oath no matter what - but happens to do drugs - and is, with sober mind, convinced into suiciding himself, by a character who has the charisma of Patrick from Spongebob.
  • And a first for me in almost any show - 3 minute long cowboy stunt clips where it's painfully obvious that they're trying extremely hard to hide the face of the body double by a fence or a branch hiding only the face.

And this is 8.6 on imdb, one of the highest rated shows the past few years, same as Severance /House M.D / Ted Lasso.

Base game & DLCs difficulties are two different games

On base game Admiral I was constantly choking and barely getting by. When I added a few DLCs, the extra tools and events made Grand Admiral very easy and I'm mostly #1 weight already at 2250.

Where is the Supergirl hate? I legitimately could not find anything

After seeing two weeks every day on the front page how incels think that Supergirl looks ugly, I decided to then look who are these people.

All that the search brought up was 100 posts about how incels are ugly and supergirl looks good. I even had to comb through Asmongold's subreddit and I got nothing.

Only pictures of even anything remotely along the lines of her looking bad are youtube/instagram comments with 1-10 likes which are obvious baits and a single outrage farmer clip.

CMV: Any bigotry (even white, straight, male) exists and creates more reciprocal prejudice

I'm in a weird spot. At the peak Tate popularity I used to clown on MGTOW and Men's Rights subreddits for constantly whining about women because of tabloid articles, but lately quite a few popular subreddits have been pretty direct in their hate towards men or create offensive theories about straight people.

Yet at the same time, it's a popular belief that anti-white racism, heterophobia and misandry don't exist. I don't think so.

There are varying levels of consequences for each type of prejudice, depending on where they are; but this doesn't mean that bigotry a certain way doesn't exist, nor acting it out being acceptable. Calling someone a slur for being straight will just make room for the insulted to call someone else a slur for being not-straight. A lose, lose; and saying to the person who was insulted that prejudice against them doesn't exist, doesn't change how they feel or will behave in the future.

Well damn! Web design also now dead

I used to parrot every month to my girlfriend for years that "AI can do all the logic code but it sucks at design, so that's safe". I've been also trying every 6 months and it's been pretty bad.

But now, I've been messing around with Claude and Opus 4.8 is just way better than me ( 15 years of experience and lots of business ) and doesn't need more than pointing a finger and saying that this should be better. Not to mention the page is also 5x lighter than what I would make.

Maybe some niche art/creative websites are still in the realm of humans but commercial/blog/etc. pages are just better/faster/cheaper with AI.

Was I right to be a downer 3 years ago?

Imma give it to you straight, I haven't played the game for 3 years and don't know what the game became to be aside from just reading some summaries.

I picked this up in 2021 after playing PoE too much and it seemingly having potential. I did quite a few popular guides and gave lots of feedback but stopped once I saw that they are going to just play it safe and keep posting like: "We're just ol' chill gamers who like to play snakes & ladders on our weekends". This mostly came up when there was discussion about trade and economy.

Now it seems like it's almost Wolcen with nothing really unique or interesting about it but not dead yet. Can't see why I would play this over any other ARPG if I just had to plainly list the perks and cons.

Was my intuition right or wrong?

Which menu text padding do you prefer?

Sometimes when I see big websites have design decisions I am not sure if I am wrong or are they?

In my opinion the menu text is too squished with the top section, so it should have some padding to make the space more even.

But maybe not?

What do you think?

Great game but the difficulty is too easy

Got only 30 hours in the game but beat Endless already without cheesing which kinda sucks because the game is fun and the music is so good.

I have 4 websites.

2 almost completely ignored for 6-18 months with no posts or social media. 1 semi worked on once a month, 1 worked on once a week or so.

Within the past 2 weeks:

  • Ignored 1 = literally overnight 10x traffic to 30k after 2 years of dropping traffic.
  • Ignored 2 = gradual 5x traffic over 2 weeks after 1 year of dropping traffic.
  • Semi-worked 1 = rank 5 to rank 2 on main keyword.
  • Worked 1 = -3x traffic over 2 months, still declining.

No clue what to do or even think about this.
