Hi!

Finally managed to score tickets for the first time for the NDP preview.

I have a few questions:

1. My grandma uses a wheelchair. Do we have to contact anyone in advance to secure her a seat in an accessible area? Will she be able to have a good view or will she be ushered into a corner somewhere? Asking this as it is a lot of stress for her to be brought out into crowds, and don’t want to disappoint her. She hasn’t seen the parade irl in 25+ years.

2. How different are the previews from the actual day parade?

3. Do they give out flags / stickers / souvenirs on the preview days as well?

I have just finished 3rd year and I’m now in full DClin prep mode for the next few years. I was wondering what advice everyone would give to themselves if they could go back to do so.

Maybe specific books or job roles that helped you learn a lot, or mistakes that were avoidable?

Academically - I have an offer to start a masters (in Sep). During this long break in-between courses, I have been reading Lucy Johnston’s Formulations book, as well as the DSM5 just to familiarize myself with the plethora of disorders out there. But that’s it really.

Job wise - I’m planning on doing support work alongside my MSc. But not sure if I should aim for specific types, or if I should be aiming for another entry job role.

Doctorate wise - Potentially planning to apply to Lancaster this year? But I really don’t know if I’m ready or if this is right for me right now. I feel like I’m getting imposter syndrome already lol.

What advice would you give yourself if you could go back?

Just wondering if I need to make a dentist appointment or not for an x-ray.

I wanted to make a detailed post about my experience with Visanne (Dienogest 2mg) as I’ve been taking it daily for 9 months now. I remember being very scared before starting (lots of bad reviews, differing side effects, seemed very harsh, etc), and scoured both here and r/endo for any and every piece of info I could find on it. Here’s me giving back:

Background: I (21f) was diagnosed through ultrasound as I had a 1.5cm endometrioma. I was 20 at the time. My gynecologist wanted me to start on Visanne as soon as possible. I had never taken anything hormonal before. I started taking it on the first day of my period. I started in August.

The first two weeks (post period) were all over the place. I remember being extremely angry and irritable. I lost my appetite and lost 2kg of weight (presumably water weight) in this time. I was also surprisingly not bloated at all! My boobs started to feel very swollen, and they physically looked bigger (B cup to C cup).

I did spot for a few days around the time my next period was supposed to come (early September). But throughout my entire experience, I have never had a full period since starting Visanne. Any spotting/bleeding was never enough to use anything more than a pantyliner.

By the end of September, I started spotting daily for some reason. Constant low level cramps as well. This lasted until mid-October.

By the beginning of November, I had another ultrasound to check up on everything. My cyst was gone! I was also diagnosed with adenomyosis at this point (stage 1-2).

One thing I do want to mention is that it significantly affected my mental health. I have had Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter depression) for years. I was extremely scared about even going on these meds because of all the horror stories I’ve heard about how detrimental it can be on your mental health. Unfortunately, it is true. I had the worst depression I have had in years. It started very early (compared to usual) and led to me relapsing in SH and suicidal ideation (both of which is rare for me). It got to the point where I considered coming off the meds because of it.

I was also very scared that it would not go away. I’m happy to say that although severe, it did go away as the seasons changed. I would not blame my depression on Visanne, but it significantly exaggerated my usual seasonal symptoms (if that makes sense). Moving forward, I am planning to be medicated with antidepressants from September, to prevent it from happening again. I say all of this to be as transparent as possible. If you are prone to mental health difficulties, it is something to keep in mind. Some women will see it as a fair trade, some will say the physical pain is more kind than the mental/emotional pain.

Other than that, it’s been pretty smooth sailing. I do still have flare ups (ranging from mild to severe) every month or so. I also have a few weeks every couple months where I am in constant low level pain/cramps. But no period at all. My boobs went from B - DD (which is a miracle lol). The only thing is that they’re swollen and tender ALL of the time. Ever since I started the meds they have always been tender. I’ve gotten used to it now.

Libido wise, it was extremely high for the first 2 months. Since then it has ranged from average to low. On average though, I would say it is overall slightly lower than pre-Visanne.

Some extras: I did not experience brain fog. My skin got a lot better. I would say I’m slightly more fatigued since starting, but it’s not enough to stop me from my regular routines.

I gained about 5kg total in 9 months. I am also bloated all the time (even mornings or when I just drink water). This is annoying but I would rather this than periods. My curves also got curvier which is a plus.

I take 600mg Calcium with a K2 + D3 tablet every night (due to the effects of Visanne on bones).

I think I’ve covered about everything - but if there’s anything else, please ask!! I really hope this helps someone. I remember being really scared, but not having periods/severe pain has genuinely changed my life so so so much. And my cyst is completely gone (checked again 2 weeks ago). Being on these meds has genuinely made me 10% more happy in life, as dramatic as that sounds. I really do recommend them, just as long as you are proactive about your mental health.

Sad to make this post but my kindness seems to have been taken advantage of.

i was wondering where the best place would be to advertise these items. i tried facebook marketplace but no luck.

alternatively, if not sold in time, does anyone have any recommendations of charity shops that would accept these sort of items?
