"Do you think i care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference". Quote i could use help understanding?

So we all know this quote from s8. This isnt a hate or flaw pointing out post or anything as the episode and this scene particularly are brilliant. But for the life of me i cannot make sense of it. For me if someone i cared little for betraying me would make no difference as I couldn't care about them any less whereas someone i do care about betraying me would definitely make me like them less. I just struggle to understand it. Im sure it makes sense just not to me.

Meet Dickie Gravy.

Raised in joint family council house, worked as a paperboy while playing for his club team. Played twice on saturday, 3pm for his weekly wage then 7pm for pie and chips at amateur level. Made england debut after original left-half missed the train. Made over 800 appearances, recieved 312 stitches, scored one goal which he was fined for as the manager told him to stay back. As a manager his team talks were "its 11 versus 11. If you dont win ill throw my boot at you." Rejected club nutritionist as doris in tea hut was good enough. Fined any player that didnt come off covered in mud. Made a concussed striker play on and fined another with half a leg hanging on for crying. Retired from management with 3 first division titles, 1000s of enemies, most of which were his own staff and players, and countless angry fist shakes.

Something I wish i said today.

Walking down the high street, i was approached by one of those british gas salespeople. She tried to stop me for some questions and eventually a sale, but i said, "No thanks." However, in my mind, what i really really wanted to say was, "i dont use gas. I dont know what it is. What is gas?".

For the first time in my adult life, ive began reading. This is my first book.

Im 32 and have annoyingly bad focus so ive never been able to read more than a paragraph before getting bored. But i somehow have managed to get on with this one.

Im a big fan of the itv adaptions, mainly miss marple, so i did research and began with this. Im 6/13 of the way through and its so much easier to read. The fact that each problem is around 30 pages long makes it seem more possible.

2 other books ive bought are murder at the vicarage and mary shelleys Frankenstein. Theyre both around 200 to 300 pages so that for me is a doable challenge. Who knows, maybe ill get round to reading stephen kings IT. my question for right now is, what should i get next that might be manageable?
