In a game where its adventure mode bosses are just returning characters, Madame Mirage stands out to me as the only one in Mario Tennis Aces' story to be completely original, and I think that's neat.
The more I remember and draw these kinds of characters, the less I begin to believe in the whole "2010s Mario had no sauce" complaints.

3D World if the in-canon characters acted like 90% of 4-Player playthroughs of it.
I don't just mean one off threats like Zokket or the X-Nauts, I mean like independent foes like the Deadly Six or the Babylon Rogues who appear sometimes in games or other media.
Now granted, Sonic has the benefit of a canon comic in the IDW series to bolster his rogue's gallery that Mario doesn't, but the fact of the matter is that the Mario doesn't have a very big selection of bad guys outside of Bowser's Minions, and even when he does, they don't usually last very long.
Despite never even playing Paper Jam, Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario teaming was always just so cool to younger me. Even now, I still kind of love it.
I would find and watch every Trio Attack animation and just gawk at how cool Paper Mario looked in those.
It's also probably why I adore Paper Mario as a character. with all his attacks and little interactions with Luigi and other 3D characters made him really stand out to me.

In Mario Party Advance, there is this television series that is constantly alluded to by the people of Shroom City known as Toad Force V. It's about a robotic Toad named Jack and his sidekick Britney as they protect the world from the forces of evil. It has spawn multiple action figures and a limited edition DVD
I absolutely adore this.
This is the kind of worldbuilding I love in fiction. Tiny/trivial things that flesh out what the everyday life of a normal person in this world would be like. To think that there is a TV series on the level of something like Power Rangers or Voltron that exists in-universe is really funny, especially with who would be a fan of it, what other merchandise would come into existence, what drama would occur within the show, etc.
Nothing massive like gameplay and story ideas. Some more trivial things you'd like to see.
Personally, I really hope the next game has something like Mario Odyssey's souvenirs, they were such cute little collectables that really made each kingdom feel more real and alive. I know the next game probably won't go for the same "travelling the world" idea, but still having some small doodads I can purchase and display would be great.

Basically, it's a mouse with a hand for a tail they can serve both grappling hook, grabbing far-off objects and ledges, but also something like Mouthful Modes in Kirby, where you find giant tools in the world to explore with.
