Advice needed!

I have 2 pups, Samson is 2 1/2 and Georgie is about 5 months old. We’ve had our big guy about a year and the baby about 2 months. Things are going pretty good but my question is how to deal with the jealousy. It doesn’t matter who is getting the attention the other one loses their shit. We make sure to love on and play with each of them individually to give them their own special time, we actively play with them together and it’s just not getting better. This morning I was petting Georgie and 95 pound Samson launched himself into my lap to get in between us. They never fight each other physically it’s just attention seeking behavior. Is this a common dynamic in the beginning or is there something I’m doing wrong?

People underestimate the power of a good fruit cobbler.

Growing up my dad made cobbler all the time and seeing as I was his shadow I learned the recipe and have made it all my life. I grew up in OK but moved to AK 2 years ago and so many people have never even had it! So I got to thinking maybe others haven’t as well and I’d share my dad’s recipe.

1 cup self rising flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup whole milk
1/2 teaspoon of salt
4 tablespoons of melted butter
Frozen fruit of your choice (I love peach the most and if you do too then definitely add a touch of cinnamon)
Additional 1/4 cup of white sugar.
Mix all ingredients minus the fruit and 1/4 of sugar. Pour into a well buttered 9x9 dish, place fruit evenly on top (batter will rise up between it while cooking) sprinkle the 1/4 cup of sugar on top of the fruit. Bake for 50 minutes at 350° or until the top is brown. I vary here a little from dad as I will sprinkle a tablespoon of cinnamon sugar on top in the last 5 minutes and turn the oven to broil.

Lord of the Flies

(Not sure if pop culture flair is appropriate) Ok so I’m pretty sure every GenX had to read this book in school right? Anyone catch the Netflix series? It took me down a rabbit hole of what all books we had to read have been turned into movies or series.

Real talk: Sex

So I had everything yeeted out along with my cervix on 5/4 and although I’m not comfortable with penetration during sex yet (doctor said 8 weeks, we’re waiting longer)I still think about it. I’m scared shitless!!! No my husband isn’t pressuring me, it’s just something I’m stressing over, anyone else feel the same way?

Local Businesses playing the sympathy card.

As a previous restaurant owner nothing irritates me more than to see local businesses basically begging for people to frequent them. “Recently divorced mom really appreciates any business” “someone wrote a bad review please help me prove them wrong” When did crying on social media become the go to in advertising???

Husband’s oldest causing problems again.

I’ve been married to my husband for 10 years and man it’s been bumpy, not because of our relationship but because of my relationship with his oldest son. The son in question was 8 when we got together and as expected there was immediate resentment from him because he thought I was trying to replace his mother (which I totally get and expected). What I didn’t expect was years of false child abuse accusations from him and his mom (none were ever substantiated). I never quit trying with him but it’s never gotten better.

We gained full custody of the boys almost four years ago (due to his mother having active substance abuse issues). It was good for a while, we learned to coexist but that all ended 2 years ago. He quit going to school, was constantly disrespectful to his dad and I and it was just a bad time. One day he came home from being god knows where and kicked a 4 foot hole into the wall and attacked his dad. We did press charges at that time and he spent a month in juvenile detention and then went into a residential home for 2 months (he was ultimately kicked out for behavior and running away). Once back home he ran away literally every 2-3 days, we’d call the police and they would track him down but he was just do it again. Finally he left and didn’t come back, he’s been living with a friend for the last year and a half.

Fast forward to yesterday and apparently he’s been living in his car and got a ticket so now my husband has to appear in court with him and there’s a good chance he will have to come stay with us until he’s 18 (about 2 months). The problem is I’m now terrified of him due to his size and violent history.

Pictured is a blackberry cobbler I made last night and will be having a piece of for breakfast-yay stress eating.

HCFA PRINTER MARGINS

Does anyone have rough printer margins for a HCFA. We need to send a few paper to Medicaid for secondaries and my IT department can’t seem to figure it out. Google gave me some but I really am trying to not waste 30 minutes (and forms) to make all the minuscule adjustments.

I should add that we are a small 501c and I literally enter every claim manually on the Medicaid portal so that should tell you how crappy our plan is lol.

How long before I can walk my dog again?

I have a message into my doctor’s office but wanted to get input until then. I’m almost 6 weeks post op from a total including ovaries and cervix, I have a 95 pound pup who really misses mom taking him for his walks. My husband has been doing it but my poor guy looks at me like I kicked him anytime I go towards the door and don’t take him. My concern is he’s a jerk if there’s rabbits around (which it’s summer in Alaska, the damned things are everywhere). How long did you guys wait to do anything strenuous? My surgery was a piece of cake, I’ve had very little pain and so I think I’m fine but I don’t want to rush it.

Any guesses

Full transparency I know what he is thanks to a dna test but I want to see everyone’s guesses because the results were NOT what I expected. This is Samson we rescued him back in August, he is 95 pounds of lapdog if you couldn’t tell. I’ll post the results after a few guesses.

Random post op question

Has anyone else found themselves wanting to be more outwardly feminine after a hysterectomy?

I’m 47 and 5 weeks post-op from a total hysterectomy, including both ovaries, and I’m on estrogen. I’ve never been an especially feminine person. But in the last two weeks, I’ve ordered three dresses and two rompers. Y’all, I haven’t worn a dress since my wedding in 2012. I even told my husband to order me pink headphones instead of my usual black.

It has me wondering if, on some subconscious level, I feel less like a woman now that I’m without my “baby-making equipment” and am trying to compensate by looking more feminine on the outside. The funny thing is, mine never worked properly anyway, so logically that doesn’t make much sense.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Maybe I’m finally embracing a different style. Or maybe I’ve completely lost my mind. 😂

Just curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Supervisors who are too mild mannered to manage their employees

I love my job, but nothing irritates me more than bringing a legitimate work issue to a supervisor and getting a list of reasons why the employee is amazing instead of the issue being fixed.

Cool. I’m glad they’re awesome. Now can we please get them to do the thing they’re supposed to be doing so I can do my job too?

Just found out my puppy is 51% Akita

I had zero clue what my boy was so of course I did a DNA test. Georgie is roughly 3 months old and now I have a ton of research to do on the breed. Anyone have any words of wisdom for someone not extremely familiar with the breed? I know he’s not purebred but I figure at 53% he’s going to have a lot of traits.

3 month old won’t alert to pee

Georgie is a little over 3 months old and refuses to alert me when he needs to pee. We’ve bell trained him and if he needs to poop he rings them every single time but if it’s to pee he will look me straight in the eye and pee in the floor. He never uses the pee pads I have down for emergencies, we take him out religiously ie after play sessions, I have a timer set for every 1.5 hours, after eats etc. He doesn’t pee in his kennel overnight so I know he can hold it…any suggestions are appreciated.
