Detrashing Redwoods National Park!
There were a lot of small pieces around the parking lot but I didn't find much on the one trail I walked other than tissues

He was asleep in there, snug as a bug in a rug.
Wednesday, August 19th, at 6:00pm during the DeFlock National Week of Action!
The National Week of Action Against ALPRs is from August 16-22. Thousands of people in cities across the country will participate in a variety of public meetings, townhalls, and other events intended to raise awareness about the use of ALPRs (automated license plate readers) in their communities, the harms of these cameras, and how we can work together to end their use.
Flock Safety, who operate AI cameras that conduct billions of automated scans a month across the country, are headquartered here in Atlanta, GA. A creative and dispersed movement has been growing to oppose the use of these cameras. During this National Week of Action we have a unique opportunity to participate and confront Flock where they're based.
This park had some of the most trash, I think because all of the wind would blow sand and trash with it. So over time, as the sand dunes move, more trash will be covered and more trash will be exposed. It was really cool how you could see the old ripples in what used to be the lake bed there
For those looking to organize in the North Fulton area, the ATL DSA is having an interest meeting and I've been told Flock and other surveillance cameras as well as data centers will be a point of discussion! Hope to see you there.

I found a $20 bill while I was cleaning so I consider that my salary from Mother Nature, lol. Most of the trash was paper products like receipts, park maps, and tissues, which is better than plastic I guess.
This is urgent! We need people out there now!!! We need a human wall! The Sierra Club and Greenpeace need to pull up!
Part 2! I did this last summer, but thought you guys would appreciate it. Pro tip: The Narrows get very crowded, very fast
I looked around this sub and saw some people posting tips and helpful links, but I'm looking to actually get these things (and others like them) banned from Alpharetta. I think Reddit would be a great place to organize since it's not completely owned by tech billionaires. Anyone know if someone else has already started the process here? Because if not, let's get things MOVING!!! I'd also like a data center ban, but I don't think any are/would be built in Alpharetta since they like to target rural/disenfranchised communities more.
I did this last summer but wanted to post it here since I found this sub. I traveled to a bunch of parks and cleaned up everywhere I went. Please ignore my grunts lol
I thought about using them in my birdfeeder but they're not good for birds. Any suggestions?
Edit: EXPIRED saltine crackers
Hi guys! I'm currently trying to work on starting a wildflower/pollinator project in Alpharetta, modeled after the GDOT wildflower program. With the current construction on State Bridge, my idea is to plant native wildflowers along the right-of-ways and public sidewalk easements instead of turf grass when they finish construction. If you've seen the new traffic circle on Webb Bridge Road, that's what I'm thinking. I have plenty of ideas for the plants, but don't know much about the local government side. Would anyone be willing to support a project like this with me? I figured with the huge increase in development lately, the least we could do to try and offset that would be creating some sanctuary for our pollinators.
Any advice or constructive criticism is welcome in the comments!
After a lot of feedback I went out and bought some stuff to make a little pond for my carnivores. I also added an air plant, resurrection plant, driftwood, a few lava rocks, and a solar powered fountain to it to make sure the water doesn't get stagnant. It's in the sun (I promise, it's just the angle of the shadows rn) and right where all the mosquitoes in my yard like to hang out. Is it good now?
This is in GA, hot and humid, and I have pitcher plants, a venus flytrap, and a butterwort.
This was in Reykjavik, Iceland
I live in Georgia, so it's pretty hot and humid but these are supposed to be native.
Saw these 2 Red-Tailed Hawks on a walk today and didn't know if they were a pair or mad at each other
So today I happened to say something about Google near my phone and it activated the voice assistant, even though I KNOW I have that turned off on my phone. WTF??? I went to my Setting and checked the Accessibility, "Hey Google" Sensitivity, and Talk to Gemini Hands-Free features and all the permissions were turned off. How is it still listening to me and how do I make it stop?
GA] The leaves aren't looking too good and the heads have a bit of a purplish color. It's been pretty hot lately and not a lot of rain but I've been watering it probably every other day and it was moist enough for some mushrooms to grow. It probably gets at least 4-6hrs of direct sunlight.
