Any free VPN for Chrome? Or should I just pay?

Just got a new Win11 laptop and I’m trying to keep things simple this time. Most of my daily browsing is in Chrome, so I don’t really need a full desktop VPN app right now, just a decent Chrome extension.

Main use is accessing some websites and social media that don’t always load properly from where I am. I also don’t want to start paying immediately since I’m still figuring out how often I’ll actually need it.

What I’ve tried so far:

Proton: seems trustworthy, the free plan's speed honestly wasn't great for me. Loading a YouTube video took forever some afternoons.

NordVPN: also gets recommended a lot, and tbh I almost subscribed. But it's paid only, no real free tier, and I wasn't quite ready to commit yet. Wanted to keep looking for a free option first.

X-VPN: been using their Chrome extension for about a week now. Unlimited data on the free plan, and the speed has been pretty decent during the day. The free server list isn't huge, but the ones I actually need (US, UK, JP) are there.

Right now X-VPN is doing the job, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Anyone using a free Chrome VPN? Or did you eventually just pay for one, and if so, was it worth it?

If you had to restart from zero today, how would you learn Facebook Ads?

No clients. No portfolio. No mentor. No big budget.

Would you:

- run your own small store?

- freelance cheap/free first?

- study winning ads?

- work at an agency?

- focus on creative strategy first?

Feels like there’s so much conflicting advice now that beginners don’t know where to start anymore.

Is Blueberry’s Grill actually the best non-touristy breakfast in Myrtle Beach, or is it just hype?

my family is coming down to the beach next month and i'm trying to plan our mornings. honestly i'm so over those massive pancake houses that just feel like tourist traps with frozen food. i’ve been digging around for the best non-touristy breakfast in myrtle beach and a couple of people mentioned blueberry's grill.

the photos of the food look way better than the typical greasy diners, but i’m always skeptical of spots that get that much attention online. is it actually where the locals go or is it just another spot that stays busy because of the name?

i really want somewhere that does more creative stuff and actually has a real chef in the back. also is the wait as bad as people say? i don't want to drag my kids there if we're gonna be standing on the sidewalk for an hour.

appreciate any honest advice!

Moving from Philly area to Wilmington, any reliable movers?

We are making the move across the border for the tax benefits but I am stressed about the logistics. It is a 4br house so it is not a small job. Looking for a company that knows the area and won't charge me an arm and a leg for the interstate move

Got an unexpected charge from ClarityCheck com - resolved it, sharing the process

A few days ago, I came across a recurring charge on my credit card by ClarityCheck and immediately thought that some kind of foul play took place.

I previously visited this website and made a phone check-up, then forgot all about it, and when the bill arrived on my card, I instantly fell into the trap of yet another scam website.

Once I calmed down and read the billing details, it became clear that the sign-up process literally detailed the payment structure:

- a trial period for $1

- after which an automatic renewal of the subscription starts at around $29.99/month

To be fair, this is pretty much how half of the Internet economy functions nowadays.

I also stumbled upon their help section:

https://claritycheck.com/help/

And to be honest, canceling was super easy. All you need to do is visit the help section to the cancelation section, answer a few standard questions from the bot support system, click on cancel, and get a confirmation email.

And that’s pretty much all there is to it.

Which means that in case you panic as well:

no, most likely your card didn’t get """"hacked"""" and no, your card was not secretly debited without even knowing about it. Subscription cost and subscription renewal period can be found on their Terms page as well - I completely disregarded everything

First session tomorrow and feeling ready after all the research

My first appointment is tomorrow morning for diabetic neuropathy. Spent months researching and talking to my doctor. Feeling prepared and optimistic.

Main thing I am curious about is what to expect during the actual session. I know the technical process but wondering about the experience itself. Is it relaxing? Do most people rest or stay active mentally?

Also planning to track my symptoms systematically from day one. Going to note pain levels, sensation changes, and sleep quality daily so I can see patterns over time.

Any tips for first timers to make the most of the experience?
