AMVIC AND FCAA Criminal Record

Good day everyone, I have a criminal record from Ontario which includes three counts of assault and one theft under 5000 and one fail to comply with order and fail to attend court in 2023. I wasn't sentenced to jail. Can I get an AMVIC license in Alberta and an FCAA licence in Saskatchewan? I plan on applying to car dealerships for sales associate roles in where I live but I'm worried that my criminal record will stand in the way. Can salespersons in alberta and Saskatchewan tell me their experiences?

Work

Good day everyone, I'm based in Lloydminster and I'm still waiting for a work permit to come through. But the issue is that I have a criminal record due to uncontrollable circumstances so big businesses are off the table. My long term plan after I get my pardon is to become an insurance broker in Saskatchewan, but in the mean time I'm compiling a list of small businesses and business which are likely to not ask for a criminal record check. I'm trying to be optimistic because mentors in my community eg my probation officer said that there are places in the city which will give me a chance. To be specific I'm looking for non manual labor jobs and non kitchen work which is usually recommended for ex convicts but I think I can make it work. I'm thinking about applying for admin roles at oilfields and trucking companies as well as independent retail like hot peppers clothing and u bet yah. I'm looking for admin roles and customer service and retail roles. Chatgpt said there are about 1900 small businesses in Lloydminster and about 600 - 900 businesses fit my profile which is about 900 potential employers I can apply to. I used to run a business and I was a member of the chamber of commerce and on their website lists businesses that I can contact. Do I have some hope or am I being delusional? I have a university degree not a trades diploma so trades and manual labour is off the table for me. I really think I can make this work. Would people with experience with this let me know their thoughts?

US Entry waiver

What are the odds of getting a US Entry Waiver as a Canadian? Is it usually always granted if there are strong ties to Canada? My convictions where 3 counts of assault and one theft under 5000 and one fail to comply with order and fail to attend court. I didn't spend any time in jail.

Sales

For the Sales in personal lines broker, commercial lines broker and account manager will the brokerage provide the leads or how does the sales process go about? Are you only selling to customers who walk into the brokerage or do you have to cold call and find clients? I'm wondering how this is done because I'm in Saskatchewan and there are only a million people here. I'm curious how we are supposed to sell when there are not too many people to sell to.

Insurance Roles

Good day everyone, I'm an aspiring Insurance professional based in Saskatchewan and I needed some help understanding the different roles of Insurance brokers. From what I understand there are personal lines brokers, commercial lines brokers and account managers. From what I also understand there are also producers which do the main sales function in insurance which is what I'm trying to avoid. Can someone educate me on these different roles so that I have a better idea and also how far can I get with being bad at sales? A quick google said that in Saskatchewan at least you don't really need to be good at sales but I'm trying to hear thoughts from other insurance professionals in Canada or Saskatchewan preferably.

Sales

What exactly do Financial Services Representatives and Financial Advisor sell to people? Whenever I say I want a FSR job people always say that you have to be good at sales in order to do the job. Will they teach you this? Honestly it's been discouraging and I'm considering getting a job as an insurance broker instead to avoid the the glorified sales thing.

Insurance Jobs

Hello Everyone,

I'm planning on getting my Level 1 P&C insurance license in Saskatchewan and I was wondering how to look for employment especially for employment that suits someone with only a Level 1 Licence. On the Saskatchewan IBAS site there is a list of all the brokerages in Saskatchewan. Do you think I should call each brokerage and ask them if they can hire me for level 1?

Thank you.

Financial Services Representative

Is there anybody that has been hired as FSR after getting IFIC with no experience? I know that they ask for one year sales experience but I don't have that and I want to know if it's a deal breaker. I have a Bachelor of Science degree and IFIC.

Criminal Conviction Review

Good day everyone, I wanted to find out how long Criminal Conviction Review takes in Canada. For the convictions there is new evidence of mental health issues and illness. I think it's a strong case but I want to know how long it takes. My pardon comes out in 4-5 years and I want to know if the Conviction Review will come out before this time.
