[Discussion] Anyone have any creative solution for rattling speakers?

I have had a couple of pairs of glasses now that have developed a rattle in one or both speakers. Usually bassy sounds like a male voice during podcasts sets them off rattling.

I can sometimes get this to go away by squeezing the arts at different points. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this and may have found a better solution?

Were you in Marching Band? I made an Idle/Clicker full of inside jokes called Marching Tycoon!

Game Title: Marching Tycoon: Idle Band

Playable Link: https://apps.apple.com/nz/app/marching-tycoon/id6777115732

Platform: IOS (Android coming soon)

Description: Marching Tycoon is an idle/clicker game for mobile that I have been working on for the past few months. I am a band director in my day job, and I always wanted to make a band-themed game of some sort. I've played games like Cookie Clicker in the past and thought that it would be a good template. The thing I think Is unique about Marching Tycoon (other than the marching band theme of course), is that there is a small rhythm element as well. If you tap the metronome in time with the music, you get a multiplier going and earn more reps!

You start with one marcher, then grow your band until you get invited to a competition. The game is based around offline earnings, so do some tapping, buy some equipment or upgrades, then go about your day!

I will eventually publish to web and Google Play. Currently going through the mandatory Google Play closed test.

I would love any and all feedback about this! It has been a real labor of love, and I am excited to get some outside feedback and make adjustments!

Free to Play Status:

  • [X] Free to play
  • [ ] Demo/Key available
  • [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

Involvement: I am a solo developer. This is my first game!

I made a free idle game about building a marching band program from nothing. Marching Tycoon!

Hey all, solo dev here. I made (no Idle Game Maker, all custom) a free idle/tycoon game called Marching Tycoon, and this is the community whose read on whether the loop holds up I trust most.

I'm a band director/music technology teacher at a high school as my day job. I wanted to take a stab at combining the idle game with a small rhythm element.

The premise: you start with a tiny, broke marching band program and grow it into a powerhouse, recruiting members, upgrading the program, watching the numbers go up.

It's got offline progression so it keeps ticking while you're away, and a prestige layer for the long game.

It's free, iOS for now (Android in the works. Google makes it a huge pain to get a game on the play store!), and there's no paywall or forced-ad wall blocking the actual game.

I also wrote the music, and I'm planning to include even more original music as the game progresses.

Mostly I want blunt feedback from people who play a lot of these: does the pacing feel right? How does the prestige timing land? Where does the loop sag? I can take it straight.

Thanks for your time!

AI Disclosure: I'm a learning dev, so I used Claude Code to help with a lot of bug fixes and engine issues I had.

I'm a music tech teacher who built a free mobile game about running a marching band program — Marching Tycoon!

Hey r/marchingband, band lifer here (I teach music technology and basically live in the marching world).

I always wished there was a game that captured the actual grind and joy of building a band program up from nothing, so I went and made one.

It's called Marching Tycoon. It's a free idle/tycoon game where you start with a tiny, underfunded program and slowly build it into a powerhouse — growing your numbers, upgrading the program, watching it all snowball. > It's that satisfying "numbers go up" idle loop, except the theme is the world we all spent our falls in.

I built it solo, it's genuinely free, and there's no paywall blocking the actual game. I'd love for some real band people to try it and tell me what rings true and what's missing. Y'all are exactly who I made it for.

It's live on IOS now, and the Android version should be live in about a week.

If you give it a shot, drop honest feedback in the comments. Roast it if it earns a roast. Thanks!

Weigh In: Samsung Z Fold 7 or Pixel 10 Pro Fold?

I have been android-curious for a few months now. I currently have a Z Flip 4 and a Pixel 6 Pro that I'm using as development testing machines, but I think I'm ready to sell my iphone air and make the full jump.

I have already decided to try to find a used or refurbished foldable. I just dont know which to go with!

Here are the pros to each as I see them:

Samsung: Thinner and lighter. This is pretty important to me coming from the iPhone air. I don't want to feel like I have a brick.

Pixel: Pixel Snap. I am very reliant on my magsafe grip, so if I get the fold 7, I'll be putting a magsafe case on it. With the pixel, however, I can use the phone naked or skinned and still get my magsafe charging and grips.

Pixel has a better battery and wider screen.

I also prefer the pixel android experience over OneUI.

Should I just go with my gut and get the pixel? Am I missing anything that would make me consider the saumsung more closely?

Talk me into it (or out of it)

I am a lifelong iPhone user, but I recently picked up a used Pixel 6 Pro to use as a development testing device. I’ve been interested in folding phones for a couple of years, but simply didn’t even consider them because I felt like I was too tied to Apple.

I have 2 sims and 2 numbers (personal and work), and currently my personal phone is an iPhone Air I bought a few months ago, and the pixel I mentioned earlier.

Would selling my Air and getting this brand new 1st gen fold be a terrible idea? It just seems like such a good deal, even though I know I’d be losing a ton of “performance” based on the specs. If I did this I would probably sell the 6 Pro and get a cheap iPhone as a second phone.

Thoughts?

Testers Needed for a simple idle game

EDIT: Closed Testing. Thanks everyone who could help!

Just like all of you, I am trying to get my app into the play store and need beta testers to install and play for 14 days.

My app is an idle game called "Marching Tycoon". It is a high school marching band, pixel based idle/clicker game.

It should make for an enjoyable test! Just open once a day to collect your currency!

Comment below with your group and app links and I will install and open every day for 14 days as well!

I am working on an application that helps with the drill learning process, and I'm trying to gather as many examples of what files band directors actually use. Any idea where I can find either full or partial shows to use as examples? (I am NOT training an AI model or LLM on the shows. Just want more files to test my PDF scanner on).

I already have a few of my own band's shows, but other than asking friends and fellow directors I know, I can't find a recourse for Drill Sheets/Coordinate Sheets/Scores PDFs.
