Budget business casual for XXL+ — need shirts, knitwear and one pair of shoes

Hi all, I work in a business casual environment, and my wardrobe is too thin. I had a job change a while back and never rebuilt my wardrobe, actually. I’m 1.80 m (5'11"), wear XXL at minimum [my build: broad shoulders and a belly] What I have: 2-3 polos, sneakers, and a couple of jeans. 1 pair of chinos. What I’m missing: shirts, knitwear (sweaters, pullovers), chinos and a pair of proper shoes. A blazer would be nice but is not a priority.

I don’t have a fixed budget yet, so I’m looking for the best value per piece rather than the cheapest option. I’m in Germany and mostly shop online.

Which brands or stores do you recommend for XXL+? Which pieces are worth paying more for, and where can I save?

Thank you guys. Grüß aus BW (iykyk)

Service Level Manager

Hi all.

I'd like to ask for a small favour (if possible).

I know we have the Service Level Management practice guide. Could anyone check whether it mentions the title of Service Level Manager or if it is mentioned in any book/practice? I don't need the document itself, just whether the role is referenced and in which section.

I used to have personal access to the PeopleCert/AXELOS library, but my membership is no longer active.

Thanks in advance!

Diagnosed with Hashimoto's a few months ago...is this "brain fog"?

Hi all.

Got diagnosed with Hashimoto's a few months back. Apparently it's on the milder end compared to other autoimmune conditions, so I kind of brushed it off at the time.

But now, at 50, a bunch of things I'd been explaining away for the last 10 years suddenly have a possible explanation: fatigue I always chalked up to having young kids and bad sleep, mood swings, trouble focusing on anything in particular.

Today is being rough so far I couldn't get myself to start a task, and once I did start, I couldn't stay on it. Hours went by and I got basically nothing done. Is this the "brain fog" people talk about? If so, that's one more symptom to add to the list.

I know this condition skews heavily female, so I'm curious if other men here have noticed the same pattern of symptoms, or if anything's been different for you specifically.

Anyone else find that symptoms you'd been attributing to other things (age, parenting, stress) turned out to be connected once you got diagnosed?

I'm based in Germany - if anyone here is going through this in the German healthcare system, I'd be curious how that's gone for you. But more generally, for those dealing with the fatigue/mood/focus side of things: what's actually helped you manage it day to day?

Thank you all.

OE in Germany, how?

Hi all.

I am living and working in Germany and this OE stuff calls my attention.

Can anyone from Germany, or living in Germany, clarify this for me: is OE possible? If so, how?

Gruß aus BW!

EDIT: I am employed, working on service management with a software company.

Kurz gesagt: Was bekommt man bei max.

Fly App for Dji Neo 1?

Hi. Greetings from deep inside Germany. (For Germans: PF, BW)

I got a DJI Neo 1 today. First drone ever :) (I know, I should have waited for Neo2, but yet here we are :) )

Setting all things ready for my first flight...and I can't find the Fly app. Does anyone know what it is? The ones I find have no Neo "compatibility".

Thanks in advance.

Is this normal?

Hi.

I was looking for an appartment to rent as the family got bigger, and this is something we were delaying as the rents are extorsionate around here (Pforzheim,BW), to put this mildly. I believe ppl here think we live in München or worse, in Stuttgard 🥸

I still have a good mietvertrag, but we need room. So, from 68qm to 80qm, I assume it is not that much...but it seems that way. The prices are through the roof. And then I read things like this.

>Miete bei Neuvermietung:
>
>* Kaltmiete: 760 €
>* Nebenkostenvorauszahlung: 260 €
>* Warmmiete: 1.020 €
>
>Voraussetzungen des Vermieters:
>
>* Festes und unbefristetes Arbeitsverhältnis
>* Probezeit bereits beendet
>* Nettoeinkommen mindestens 3.500 € bei 2 Personen
>* Zusätzlich 500 € Nettoeinkommen pro Kind
>* Saubere Schufa-Auskunft erforderlich

Can you tell me if this is normal? It is hard enough to find a wohnung being a foreigner, even with kids (2 in my case), but with this, it is almost impossible!

EDIT: I am referring to the demands of the Vermieter...Miete is not that bad at all, considering.

EDIT2: I cannot understand the downvote but I accept it. After all, this is (still) a democracy. :)

Six seasons in Luxembourg's top flight. One cup. Three runner-up finishes. Finally top of the table...and somehow in the Conference League group stage.

Hey managers!

I want to tell you guys about Jeunesse Canach. They're not a big club. Not a sexy name. Nor from a sexy league. They're from a village of roughly 1,500 people in southern Luxembourg (yeah, because Belarus is tiresome, and I needed a break from things like Libertadores with Chilean teams rescued from small leagues). When I took over in FM24, they were in the second division, the Promotion d'Honneur. The plan was simple: get promoted, survive, maybe push for Europe one day.

Six seasons later, here's where we are:

  • 1 Luxembourg Cup
  • 3x runners-up in the BGL Ligue (all three times behind the same team...yes, Progrès Niederkorn; who else?)
  • 1 Europa Conference League league phase appearance (26/27, lost against Brugge in the knock-out phase)
  • Currently 1st in the league, 19 points from 7 games
  • Conference League group stage, first game won

The title has been the one thing that keeps escaping us. Progress has owned this league for the last 6 seasons, and every time we've come close, they've held on. This season feels different: unbeaten, top of the table, and European football is back. But I've been here before. And it ended badly.

The squad:

26 players, with an average age of 23. We're young and building something. A few names worth watching: Obrening Huiswoud (22, Suriname), left winger with serious quality; Rafael Castro (21, Spain), who can play CB or LB and has been a revelation; Miguel Patrício (23, Portugal), the engine in midfield; and João Vieira (21, Portugal), our striker who's starting to look like the real thing.

This save, as told right from the start, was born in FM24 and I've carried it forward. It's become one of those saves you can't let go of: the club is too small to give up on and too close to something real to restart.

Going to try and document this season here. Happy to answer questions about the club, the league, the squad build, whatever.

Come on Canach. (I won't dare to write in Lëtzebuergesch...)

EDIT: IN Luxembourg they have rules for foreigners, you can have 9. And you are not foreigner if you are from Luxembourg, France or Portugal.

No home charging, no workplace charging... how do you actually make it work? (Living in Germany)

I've been thinking about switching to an EV for a while now. However... I rent in an older building, no assigned parking, no realistic path to a wallbox. The building just doesn't allow for it. Workplace charging isn't an option either. I have in the title but will repeat it: I am in Germany.

So I'm genuinely curious whether people in the same situation: fully dependent on public charging, manage to make it work day to day.

If that's you, I'd love to hear:

  • How do you fit charging into your routine
  • Which networks or apps do you actually use for it
  • What surprised you, good or bad
  • And even so, would you do it again?

If you charge at work too, feel free to reply...just flag it so I can tell the situations apart.

Evaluating GRC as a career direction — does my background translate, and where to start without budget for certs?

Hi all.

I have background in IT service management, currently working as a Service Level Manager (since early 2025). My day-to-day involves SLA governance, contract oversight, KPI reporting, and coordination between operations, finance, and management. ITIL 4 Foundation certified.

Before this, 10+ years in operations and quality management, including data analysis and team leadership, with strong emphasis on internal processes.

I'm exploring whether GRC could be a natural next direction, given the overlap with governance work. Not yet committed but evaluating if it makes sense.

Two specific questions:

  1. Does this background realistically translate to GRC, or am I overestimating the overlap?

  2. Where would you start with limited or no budget for certifications, what free resources actually helped you?

I am not looking for a quick answer but trying to understand the landscape before committing to anything.

New Service Level Manager feeling lost after a year: has anyone else been here before?

Hello everyone.

I've been working as a Service Level Manager for about a year now in a mid-sized software company. I came from a completely different background (10 years in logistics/operations, where 2 were as DA and 5 as a team lead on a quality dept, where my strong point was internal process analysis: finding flaws, correcting and improving them), having no formal ITSM education, and three months into the role, my manager (experienced with more than 6 years in the role) just resigned. It took nearly a year to find his replacement.

My onboarding was what it could be given the circumstances: my manager did what was possible before leaving, and my colleagues also supported me at the start, but the timing meant I was largely on my own early on. I got my ITIL 4 Foundation certification during this period, which helped with the theory, but the institutional and contractual knowledge is a completely different set.

A year in, I still feel like I'm constantly behind. My two colleagues have more experience and relevant educational backgrounds, and when questions come into the department, it's almost always them who answer, not me. I can mostly follow their reasoning when they do, but in the moment I freeze.

I know I'm not incompetent: I handle what comes to me; I know when to say, "I'll check and confirm"; I get answers when I ask; I check documentation; and I back all my answers, and as far I am concerned, no feedback nor corrections were done, no issues arised after my input. But the knowledge doesn't seem to stick. There's no system; it lives in my memory or scattered emails (marked as tasks so I won't lose them).

Has anyone been in a similar situation?
