The ESO princes made me realise I’m not sure I understand Daedric Princes

While I know they have most dominance and power over their own spheres, I always kind of thought their power was absolute. Clavicus Vile once said he could snap his fingers and everyone in Skyrim would immediately die, and Serana, when talking about Molag Bal, says his will becomes reality.

I know there are different levels of power, since Peryite is considered the ‘weakest’, but I’m not sure i understand that. Are they not still gods? With uncompromising power since they didn’t give themselves to the creation of Nirn? Amongst themselves there’s differences in power but to mortals, surely they’re as divine as it gets?

I ask because i just finished the Summerset expansion, and (spoiler alert) Nocturnal needs to use the Crystal Tower to become present ‘in all realities’ (may be misquoting). Like ngl i thought she kind of already was. Like these beings have whole planes of Oblivion attached to them that are intertwined with their very being, I can’t help but feel their godhood is somewhat inconsistent.

Also, in Necrom, you manage to hold your own against Vaermina?? This is a god, no? Like Vile, could she not just snap her fingers and I’m dust? Or is it because I’m in Mora’s realm, and under his protection?

I really like Resynced, but I’d be very nervous about an AC3 remake

There’s a lot I like in terms of added content in Black Flag Resynced, but there’s also the massive varnish of ‘new’ AC on it that slightly takes away from the enjoyment.

AC 3 is obviously a popular suggestion for a similar remake. I know people have their opinions on it, but it’s personally my favourite entry in the series. I find the dialogue especially good, and not just from Haytham and Connor. The animation/mocap in the cutscenes is half of what makes the performances fantastic, and it still has enough of the old AC DNA (in its parkour, structure, modern day etc) that it feels solid to me. I know people call the story weak, and I don’t agree. I understand it takes a while to get going, but I personally loved getting to start as Haytham. The kid bit I’ll admit didn’t help.

The idea of it getting a visual upgrade is nice, but potentially trading that for added content that has procedural animated cutscenes, writing quality that is a stark departure from the original, and possibly stripped down parkour (I say possibly only because I honestly think BFR did a decent job of giving us a similar level of control as older titles, at least within this new engine, although it still pales in comparison to the function of 1-Revelations and the style of Unity) honestly makes me sad.

I honestly think Edward’s character slightly suffered with how his new stuff was handled. I think Connor’s an awesome character, and I’d love to be given more of his story, but I’d rather be left with a single great experience than be given a remake that adds little, with many more to come.

How to safely update ENBSeries?

Tbh i’ve put off updating enbseries for a while now, because i’m worried about losing everything i’ve configured in the ini’s or otherwise breaking my game/enb. Anyone have a quick method on how to safely do it and ideally keep my changes?

Using Cabbage ENB if that makes any difference

Anyone else have a part of the game they refuse to touch with mods?

For me there’s 2:

I’m not touching Jeremy Soule’s soundtrack. I know there are some incredibly talented modders out there, but no one touches the music for me.

Mods that allow you to marry Serana, or any others that reverse/allow you to force characters to do something they’re against. Feel like that’s self explanatory

Recommended addons for Moonpath to Elsweyr?

Haven’t downloaded a quest mod before, and love the look of Moonpath. Been looking at the ‘mods using this mod’ list and noticed Xavbio’s retextures, any other mods that improve the Moonpath experience I should go for?

My only real issue with Resynced, but it’s a biggie

Just finished the game, and have done all the quests for Lucy, Tobias and Padre, plus all the new side stories that have cropped up to this point. Love this remake.

I like the new officers, I especially think Lucy feels like a natural addition and her actor plays her really well. Padre’s arc is a little far fetched to me, and i’ve only had Smith for a few minutes but so far he just talks about dying.

But I honestly can’t get into these new storylines because of the sheer drop in quality of the cutscenes. I’m sure there’s plenty of good reasons (although i’m guessing it’s just money) that they didn’t use mocap for the new ones, but the procedurally generated scenes look even more stiff and lifeless when you package them with the brilliant physical acting in the original. Half of what made those original scenes memorable is how well the physicality complimented the writing, and when you can physically act out a scene, the voice will naturally work in tandem and the whole thing works out better.

The other issue is the writing. The new scenes feel bloated with exposition, I just heard 3 different lines from Edward back to back about how he shouldn’t have underestimated the Spanish who helped him with Maynard’s fleet (one battle btw). Before that he did a whole speech on the table of his manor, something that felt like it was supposed to match his original ‘collective madness’ speech. But he moved like a robot, his lines (like every single bloody line that’s been added for him) have been sanitised beyond recognition and felt like they were recorded in a vacuum with no sense of context. He’s also incredibly empathetic and lacks any sense of his normal cheekiness or selfishness when you do Lucy/Padre’s missions, despite them being early on in the story, which feels strange. Then the opposite problem happens in A Word Without Gold, which takes places during his redemption arc, but backpedals completely.

Matt Ryan is obviously an icon, and his original performance holds up as legendary, but something was lost with this current one. Maybe a lack of direction, I’m not sure, but some of these line readings are strange.

It’s hard to pinpoint, but at some point the writing changed and we get what we got in Shadows. I don’t think people really talk like this. Nothing is emotionally charged, it’s all just buckets of info, everything spoon fed. Nothing is inferred or subtle. Apparently the lead writer of Black Flag’s original scenes is returning for Hexe. God I hope so, that person knew how to write incredible dialogue. Now let’s hope it’s slightly less bloated than the RPG titles, and pray for some mocap.

Bit of a rant but hey ho

Skypatcher outfit mods not changing NPC outfits?

Apologies since it’s a bit of a long one:

So I’ve got Sentinel, Beggar Fashions, Blacksmith Fashions and Children of the First/Green outfit mods, all Skypatcher mods that change NPC outfits. None of them affect the same NPCs.

I’ve noticed that in certain cities/locations, which can change depending on the save, lots of NPC’s just aren’t wearing what they’re meant to be and have gone back to default outfits. Some are always correct, like the Sentinel guard armors and the Blacksmith outfits, but the Sentinel stuff that relies on Anniversary content, Beggar fashions and the ‘Children of…’ ones constantly change back out, and on my newest save, they never had them on.

I can see the mod added clothes in their inventory via console, except for the Children of because that changes the NPC directly and doesn’t require you to have the corresponding armor mod installed. I did notice some had ‘Bad Editor ID’ next to them. Anyone able to offer any help? I’m lost.

I wish Aveline had more content

She’s probably my favourite assassin, and the fact she only got a PS Vita game and a single mission in OG Black Flag is criminal.

Despite that her game is massively slept on. Really interesting dynamics with her step-mom and mentor l, and it was presented as a censored Abstergo game until you discovered the real cutscenes.

Between her and Connor, that era of AC needs far more love, and we probably won’t ever get it

So is the original modern day scrapped?

If Resynced is using the rifts to allude to modern day stuff (which, I’m sorry, I’d much prefer actual modern day content) are the original events including Olivier and John Standish retconned, or just in the past? Do you think the player will still be working at Abstergo Entertainment? If not, and the story is continuing from Shadows, why are we living through Edward’s memories again?
I honestly really liked the lore you could find by hacking the computers in the office, like seeing how they considered other protags for ‘virtual experiences’. I sort of miss being involved in the modern day Templar/Assassin war as much as the simulated one, Shadows frankly had me lost with its rifts

White Rayhan costume in normal file?

So, I started NG+ with the Full Sync challenge and did it, unlocking the Rayhan costume. Now I’ve gone back to my normal, non-permadeath file to start Valley of Memory, and it’s not unlocked on that file, nor is my dyes from completing NG+.

Are those rewards locked to the permadeath save?

Nintendo game music has gotten worse as technology has improved

Music in Nintendo games (e.g. Mario, Pokemon) had a very real peak in the 2000’s. Listening back to games in this era like Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Mario Sunshine, Galaxy, Wind Waker; I honestly think that there’s not a single miss. Every song has a distinct melody that I can recall now even months, years after playing.

After playing the most recent Pokemon game (Legends ZA) and Mario Kart World (both of which are great games), I couldn’t tell you a single new track that has stuck with me. All I can recall is an insane amount of electric synth and not a single catchy hook between them. MK World has a great soundtrack, sure, but only because 90% of it is covers of great songs.

My feeling is that as more has become possible in terms of adding sounds/instruments, less effort is put into creating fun/catchy songs. Think of the original Pokemon or Mario games, those songs have survived 30+ years using a couple of notes.

My personal exception is Zelda. BOTW and TOTK banged.

Is NG+ preferred over the ability to replay specific missions?

Just watched an interview where a dev said they haven’t included the ability replay missions, but instead implemented a new game plus option. I sort of always assumed people would rather have the ability to choose their fave mission to replay rather than have to start a whole new game even if they didn’t really want to, but I guess I may be wrong? They said they came to reddit and youtube to gauge feedback.

Also they’re ditching the idea of Sequences and optional objectives completely, which makes me a little sad as that still feels part of the DNA of the series to me
