Do you like seeing certain religious artifacts in the game?

In our upcoming indie game, we are using a lot of artifacts taken from the Old and New Testaments. We incorporate them into the game’s lore, giving each one a unique look and features.

Do you find this idea cool, or would you rather make artifacts and weaponry out of completely imaginary stuff?

Free Demo Next Week: A Vampire Game That Feels Like BloodHunt Mixed with Postal

Free Demo Next Week: A New Vampire Game Directly Inspired by BloodHunt

Hey everyone, as a huge Vampire: BloodHunt fan, I’m incredibly excited to share that the free demo for my project drops on Steam next week. After two full years of development, we’ve poured our passion for that classic 2004 masterpiece into something new. It feels like a mix of Bloodhunt with Postal — dark, story-rich, and unapologetically chaotic. Expect:

  • Multiple different locations and hubs
  • Strong narrative atmosphere with plenty of dark humour and violence
  • A fully open world with no time restrictions — explore every corner at your own pace

It’s not a sequel or an official project — it’s a love letter from a fan who always wanted more of that BloodHunt magic, but with a wilder, more unpredictable edge. If you’ve ever replayed BloodHunt multiple times and loved its immersive night world, I think you’ll feel right at home. Demo releases next week on Steam. Wishlist it now so you get notified the second it goes live. Would love to hear what you think once you play it. Thank you for keeping the BloodHunt spirit alive all these years!

Planning a Limited Indie Collector’s Edition – Tips & Company Recommendations?

I’m planning to create a limited series of collector’s editions. I remember the great ones for Stubbs the Zombie and Destroy All Humans. With a limited budget, I’m thinking of including a physical copy on a thematic flash drive (with the game), a stylized T-shirt, an artbook, and maybe some cool promo posters.
Are you aware of any companies that collaborate with small indie studios on stuff like this? Do you know of other indies who have done collector’s editions for their games?

Hey everyone, I’ve been heads-down on my vampire-themed FPS horror shooter and wanted to pull back the curtain on the in-game economy that’s become one of the most fun (and weirdly addictive) parts of the project.

Here’s how the Vampire Crypto Coin works - Every vampire you kill on the map permanently reduces the total vampire population. The fewer vampires left alive, the higher the coin’s value climbs — pure supply-and-demand horror economics. Early game you’re slaughtering hordes and the coin is basically worthless. Late game, when the map is almost cleared and vampires are rare, that same coin is suddenly worth a fortune. It creates this natural tension: do you rush to farm coins while they’re cheap, or play it slow and let scarcity drive the price up? The coin is your main currency.

The real hook is asset merging. You buy raw components and drag them together. The game instantly combines them into new weaponry with unique behaviours. The vinyl/physical edition of the game ships with a tight, unilinear story mode only — classic horror campaign, no endless stuff, no multiplayer. It’s meant to be a self-contained experience you can play on your couch with the record spinning in the background. But I’m also building an Endless Mode that will be a free update for everyone (Steam + physical key holders get it automatically). And here’s the part I’m most excited about - I’m a massive Dota 2 addict. I’ve always wanted to steal some of that magic and shove it into a single-player FPS horror shooter. So Endless Mode is basically “Dota 2 but you’re the only hero, the map is a gothic neon city crawling with vampires, and there are no lanes — just pure survival. I’m taking:

  • Dota-style item building (already in the shops)
  • Economy management that actually matters (the Vampire Crypto Coin)
  • Objective-based map control (clearing “nests” that spawn bosses)
  • Random events and power spikes that feel like buying the right item at the right time

I want that same “oh shit, this run is cooking” feeling you get in Dota when your build comes online, but in a solo horror FPS where every mistake can get you swarmed and drained so I’m throwing this out to you, Reddit: what Dota 2 features would feel amazing in a single-player endless vampire shooter?

Drop your wildest ideas below. I’m reading every single one — this endless mode is still early, and I want to make it feel special. Thanks for the support, and I’ll drop more dev diaries as we get closer to launch!

Hey buddies,
I’m currently facing a real dilemma. I’m developing a game and plan to participate in the next Steam Next Fest in June. I launched my game page three weeks ago and have already gathered 400+ wishlists. That’s not explosive, but it’s not a complete failure either.
Everyone says that to get any real traction, you need to enter the Next Fest with a bare minimum of 2,000 wishlists. I don’t have much time left. I can either launch a demo earlier with slightly less polishing (the difference isn’t dramatic) or release a more polished version almost tied to the Next Fest — but with way less time to build up the required wishlists.
The decision is really hard for me. On one hand, I feel like the time has come to start getting feedback from players. On the other hand, I know that first impressions are the most important. So, what would you do?

I am a huge fan of games from the early 2000s era. My favorite game ever is Bloodlines by Troika Studios. I completed it with 6 out of 7 playable clans, spent over 1,000 hours on it, and I’ve always wanted to make games in that kind of art style.
Now, many years later, I’ve finally finishing my own indie title (with a vampiric theme), but I don’t see many people finding it as appealing and attractive as I do. Do you think that kind of visual style isn’t loved by many players these days?
