[HIRING] Short-Form Video Editor | India | College/Street Interviews | ₹500/video

Hey! We’re looking for a short-form video editor based in India to work with us on an ongoing basis.

We’re building Boomm, a social platform for college communities, and we’re creating a content format around real conversations, street interviews and college-campus interactions.

The content will mainly be for Instagram Reels / YouTube Shorts, with most videos around 30–60 seconds.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take raw interview footage and turn it into engaging, social-first content.

We’re looking for someone with a good understanding of:

  • Hooks and retention
  • Pacing and storytelling
  • Finding the best moments in raw footage
  • Captions, cuts, zooms and SFX where they actually help
  • Short-form content that feels native to Instagram/YouTube

Experience with street interviews, campus content, talking-heads, podcasts or similar formats is a plus.

You’ll help us build the format

For the first few shoots, we’d like to work with the editor through calls/meetings with the students recording the content.

The goal is to figure out the shooting + editing SOP together: framing, questions, shots, what footage we need, how we structure the reels, etc.

Once that’s established, the process becomes much more streamlined. The focus then is on turning the footage into strong reels and creating the right moments within the edit.

If you see something and think:

“If you shoot this differently next time, I can make a much better reel.”

That’s the kind of input we’re looking for.

The initial format-building is only during the setup phase. There is no ongoing on-ground requirement.

Work & payment

  • Remote
  • India
  • Around 20–30 videos/month
  • ₹500 per completed standard short-form edit
  • Ongoing work

Sometimes we’ll have a larger batch of footage ready together, so you may edit multiple videos at once. That’s completely fine with us.

Payment is based on the number of completed videos each month.

If we go above 30 videos, additional videos are also paid at ₹500/video.

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need 5+ years of experience.

We’re more interested in your portfolio, editing taste and understanding of short-form content than your resume.

If you’ve already made content similar to the references, that’s a strong plus.

How to apply

DM me with:

1. Your portfolio/reel
2. A short intro about yourself
3. 1–2 examples closest to this type of content, if they’re not already in your portfolio

That’s it.

Please don’t DM without a portfolio/reel.

We’ll reach out for a short call if your work looks relevant.

We’re not looking for someone to copy the references exactly. Your own editing style and ideas are welcome.

Reference videos are in the first comment.

[Hiring] Looking for a Gen Z Reel Editor

We’re looking for a video editor to help us create Instagram reels for an online competition built for Indian college students.

The idea is simple:
Students put up an Instagram Story with a link asking their friends to expose/judge them on a topic they choose (all fun, nothing serious 😄). People vote, they get results, and share them further.

The kind of raw content we have is usually:

  • Students talking to the camera (talking head videos)
  • A selfie or random image with a voiceover
  • Screen recordings
  • Sometimes literally just an image or even no real footage at all

We’re not looking for someone who just applies the same editing style to every reel.

We’re looking for someone who’s excited to experiment with the content itself. Different hooks, storytelling, pacing, memes, captions, formats, trends, whatever helps us figure out what actually gets shared across college audiences. The goal is to test fast, learn what works, and keep improving.

Payment can be decided per reel or on a monthly basis, whichever makes more sense.

If you’re interested, please DM or comment with examples of reels you’ve edited.
Please include at least one reel you’ve personally made. Without examples of your work, it won’t be possible for us to evaluate applications.

Traffic police suddenly woke up in Navi Mumbai 💀

gng, just a heads up. traffic police kaafi active ho gayi hai recently. Helmet aur wrong side driving pe challan kaat rahe hain left right and center.

mujhe abhi recently seawoods mein helmet ka challan aa gaya. and honestly, jis spot pe hua, waha almost sab log pichle 10 saal se wahi kar rahe hain. not saying it’s right, bas reality hai.

sabse funny part? bas photo click kiya, aur kuch time baad sms...boom... challan. aur lag nahi raha ki ye ek-do din ka scene hai. Main waha khada tha aur mere saamne 10 minute mein 5 log pakde gaye. proper challan harvesting chal rahi thi.

feels like koi naya target mila hai inhale.

helmet pehen lo. wrong side mat jao. kam se kam agle meme ka subject mat bano.

Bhai ko dost samjha but usne to galat hints le liye 😭

https://preview.redd.it/8jxeco4vhq4h1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f58e54959dada1908bfb3f982a5ab28c7ef77b59

pata hai aaj kya hua 😭

mai walk karke park me baitha hua tha thoda chill karne. thodi dur 3-4 launde dikhe toh maine bas casually wave kar diya. unme se ek banda wave back karta hai while baaki log ghar nikal jaate hai aur ye banda aake mere paas baith gaya.

fir hum dono random laundo wali bakchodi karne lage 😭 politics, duniya daari, masti, life, gym, future, sab topics cover kar liye bhai ne. and honestly banda kaafi friendly tha 😭🤚

bas mujhe baar baar aisa feel ho raha tha ki ye thoda zyada hi close baith raha hai but maine socha chhodo awkward nahi karte.

fir achanak se banda park ke random lore pe aa gaya. bolne laga ki yaha bahut ajeeb ajeeb log aate hai aur kaafi weird cheeze hoti rehti hai. fir usne random stories sunani shuru kar di aur is point pe mera dimag bol raha tha bhai ye conversation kis direction me jaa rahi hai 😭

mai fir bhi normal behave kar raha tha kyuki maybe banda bas oversharing ka world champion ho.

few minutes later bhai apni pocket se kuch random samaan nikalta hai aur mere saamne rakh deta hai 😭😭😭

and my brain went... f****uuuuck.

fir banda aur random kahaniyan sunane laga aur mujhe genuinely lagne laga ki mai park me nahi kisi side quest me aa gaya hu jo maine galti se trigger kar diya.

dekho dosto mai judge nahi kar raha kisi ko but mere muh se instinctively nikal gaya "THE F**K BHAI 😭😭😭"

uske baad 10 sec ki aisi awkward silence hui na bhai. na mujhe samajh aa raha tha kya bolu, na shayad usko. mujhe literally laga either mai bhaagu ya ye 😭

park me walk karne gaya tha. random npc ko wave kar diya aur poora secret mission unlock ho gaya 💀😭
