What is your exact approach when it comes to physical games?

For me personally as a Nintendo switch guy, I have a simple rule. If a game was released physically I won't buy a digital version. If it wasn't and it's low budget/indie title I won't restrain from digital version. However I don't accept digital only versions from big publishers, hence I'll probably never play pokopia which pisses me off a little, but what can one do.

Should I play pikmin 1 + 2 before pikmin 4?

I played pikmin 3 DE few years ago and liked it very much. I'd like to play whole series and yet I'm afraid that if I play pikmin 4 first, then 1 + 2 won't be very enjoyable for me. Is Pikmin series just a gradual evolution which would imply 1 and 2 are more or less the same concept, but worse? Or do they have their own personality gameplay-wise?

Do you remember the first game you ever played?

For me it's captain claw as one of the games on our kindergarten computers. Then when my parents bought my first PC (Windows XP) it was a first game I asked for and they bought it for me.

Calling Bayonetta hack & slash is a misconception

Last time when I saw a post on switch subreddit when people where asking about some hack&slash recommendations on switch, a lot of people brought Bayonetta to the table. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't think this game should be qualified as hack & slash, but rather a damn good slasher. I'm speaking from a perspective of a person who only beated Bayonetta 1, 2 other games are still in my backlog, if some of my points can be applied to other games, please tell me.

I believe hack & slash genre is defined by:

- Fighting tons of monsters at the same time
- Advanced RNG-based looting system, which largely defines character development
- RPG-like character progression with statistic tables (mandatory), skill trees (not mandatory, but mostly present), leveling (mandatory)
- Any element of randomness when it comes to map generation

Bayonetta maybe only lives up to the first point and even that would be questionable honestly, since in actual hack & slash games, at some points you can even fight around 100 enemies at the same time, while Bayonetta is not even close to reach a quarter of that number. For me this series is the perfect definition of a slasher game and it's nothing bad about it, just a different genre.

Is it worth to get switch 2 pro controller when I already have switch 1 version of it?

I know it includes some new buttons with additional switch 2 functionalities, but I don't really care about them and I'm not going to use them anyway. What I mean is there any difference in actually using the controller? Better triggers, buttons, analogs? Or is it just the same as switch 1 controller? I'm aware of the feature of turning on console with a controller which is nice, but too little to justify such an expense.

Just completed Xenoblade trilogy

And I just wanted to share some thoughts.

Xenoblade series was my first ever JRPG approach ever and although it was hard at the beginning, playing only western RPGs so far in my life. I even bounced off of xenoblade 2 two times (it was my first game of the series that I played), mainly due to the combat system I wasn't used to at all, but fortunatelly during my third approach it finally clicked with me and I find it really great, complex and challenging (especially looking at you xenoblade 3).

Never in my gamer's life have I experienced such an epic story/stories. Although I regret a little playing these games completely not in order (2, 3, 1) even though you are fully able to understand the story of each of them separetly, you won't notice the essential connections between them all which are crucial for the sense of whole trilogy.

If I were to rank them, I'd do it like so:

  1. Xenoblade 3 - My personal favourite antagonist, in my opinion most complex and best combat system mainly due to utilizing whole party instead of just few characters at the same time, best side quests in the series.

  2. Xenoblade 2 - my favourite world of them all when it comes to design and visuals, combat system better than in xc1, but worse than xc3 for me, best characters.

  3. Xenoblade 1 - Even though I enjoyed it very much and I still consider it a great game, I have some problems with it. Party affinity mechanic and locking heart-to-hearts because of too low affinity level drove me nuts, quality of life things like chests out of every enemy instead of just loot, tons of cheap MMORPG-like side quests which I stopped reading in about 1/3 of the game and finally maybe that's just me but I feel like the plot of XC1 is uneven it's starting pretty fast for first 2 or 3 chapters then it slows down and for most of the game reveals little of it's secrets constantly raising more questions just to hit you with all the answers in about last 3 chapters.

Still there are all DLCs still waiting for me, I know that ending of XC3 DLC is considered true ending of the series, but wanted to share my opinion after main games nonetheless. I'm really glad I checked out this gem of a series. Hyped for Genesis in 2027!

Do you also tend to complete games you purchased physically more often?

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like when I buy the game physically, my relation with the game is way more intimate in comparison with digitally purchased games and I feel more obliged to finish the game. Any of you also have this feeling?

Godot vs raylib

What would be a better environment for a hobbyist to start playing around? I'm aware of the fact that raylib is library and I'd have to build everything from scratch myself and godot is a full game engine.

What's better language to work with raylib? Python vs C++

I have some python experience and it would be definietly easier for me, my C++ experience is limited, but it's not 0. Is there any major reason to work with C++ rather than with python? I'd also prefer python since setting things up is easier for me, personally I really hate setting up libraries in C++.

No glacial trail waypoint

Hi, I'm playing HC paladin, normal, single player (d2r not the original). I pretty much went through all the glacial trail, discovered literally whole map and checked every corner, yet the waypoint just doesn't exist. What happened? Is this some kind of bug?
