[WTS] Leatherman Waves, Civivi, Demko scales, Hinderer Ti scale, Reate T6000

Time stamp + photos: https://imgur.com/a/H6tHLZr

Photos for the Leathermans: https://imgur.com/a/Bw88qDV

  • Leatherman Wave (silver only) – heavy user. The tip of one plier head is broken off, and the blades could use a sharpening. The handles are heavily scratched up. There are also some marks on the inner-handle accessories where I removed some rust build-up (can opener, bit driver, flathead, and flathead). I just fully disassembled it, cleaned all the tools, polished the washers, and reapplied lube and loctite, so the folding and action should be good to go. No boxes or accessories are included, just what is seen in the photos.💲50 SOLD

  • Leatherman Wave (black/silver combo) – used but good condition, no noticeable issues. The blades could be sharpened (not necessarily “dull” but don’t expect factory sharpness). I just fully disassembled it, cleaned all the tools, polished the washers, and reapplied lube and loctite, so the folding and action should be good to go. No boxes or accessories are included, just what is seen in the photos.💲75 SOLD

  • Civivi Brazen jade: Carried a few times and gently used. There is a small mark on the scales. Centering and action is perfect. No box or accessories included. Never been sharpened, blade is factory sharp.💲40

  • AD20.5 jade scales: I’m not sure where these are from or if they’re genuine or not. There are no labels on them. They feel high quality though; I had them on a Demko at one point and they fit perfectly. Oddly enough, the pictures make them look very messed up and ugly, but irl they look fine? I think the lighting just plays a trick on the camera. There is a small mark in the center of the scale on the left in the photo. I also know that Demko has different pivot sizes, so I measured these and the pivot is 6.00mm.💲40

  • XM-18 3.5” unmilled Ti scale: standard silver color. These are super hard to come by and I am fairly certain that they are not made anymore. The unmilled Ti scales are fantastic if you want to add a lot of weight to your Hinderer and make it feel super solid in hand. Obviously this one has been mounted and used.💲200

  • Civivi Biophase: LNIB. Box and accessories included. I got it and decided that it wasn’t for me so I never carried it. The centering is a little off even though I tried to tighten the pivot all the way. That’s just how the knife is I guess.💲45

  • Reate T6000: very lightly carried and disassembled once because I was curious how the internals work. It is reassembled perfectly and the double locking mechanism works great. No box or accessories included. The blade is extremely sharp from the factory. Perfect centering.💲320

My only trade interest is a OneTrackMind Ire V2 Blue Crystal Ti (though I might consider other variations of the Ire as well)

Multi-item discount: $5 discount for each additional item you buy. So buy 1 item = no discount. Buy 2 items = $5 off total, 3 items = $10 off total, etc

Does anyone else wish Leatherman would expand their color options to their other tools?

I know some people have criticized Leatherman lately for turning into a “lifestyle” brand, and I definitely have some opinions about the tools they’ve discontinued. But in terms of the color options, I actually mostly like what they’re doing. I wish they would expand them to more tools.

Number of colors currently available:

Signal: 9

Skeletool: 8

Rebar: 6

Bond: 4

Raptor Rescue: 7

Micra: 11

And some of these have had more options in the past. I know the Signal has several colors that are no longer offered.

But the other tools?

Arc: 2

Wave: 2

Surge: 2

It’s so boring. I’m also not a fan of the ARC Talos — it’s just kind of boring

The Bugout and PM2 have had than 50 configurations each and obviously they sell like hotcakes.

The Wave Alpha has some nice colors, and Leatherman should expand those options. A guava Arc would look awesome. Or a Tundrascape Surge.

I have a few theories about why they haven’t done it:

  1. Leatherman only puts colors on the tools that struggle to sell. I’m pretty sure that Leatherman has said the Wave is their best selling tool by far, so they probably don’t feel it’s necessary to put new colors out there. Whereas tools like the Rebar probably sell slower, so they expanded the color options.
  2. They worry about brand image. While Leatherman has expanded to be a “lifestyle” brand, they also don’t want to alienate their traditional blue-collar workers. By putting colors on their more rugged tools (Wave, Surge, Arc) they worry that they would lose their brand image as a tough multitool maker

Why is the Wednesday $1 gas discount only applying to my 1st gas transaction, and not the 2nd?

My car uses 87 octane gas and my motorcycle uses 91, and I frequently drive both. So on Wednesdays, for the $1 gas discount, I drive my car to the gas station, fill up gas cans for my motorcycle, and then do a 2nd transaction to fill up my car (or vise versa).

On June 17, I spent $50.33 for 8.909 gallons of 87 octane (5.65 / gallon). Then I spent $26.61 for 4.473 gallons of 91 octane (5.95 / gallon). The discounted price on the One app was $4.16 for 87 and $4.45 for 91. If you do the math, I should have received 1327 points for the 1st transaction and 671 points for the 2nd.

The next day I only received 1327 points, meaning the 2nd transaction never applied. I contacted customer service and they confirmed that I should have received points for both transactions, so they gave me a $7 credit (to make up for the 671 points that I never received).

This is just one example, but it’s happened several times since then, including today. I only receive points for the first transaction and never the 2nd.

It is not possible to do just one transaction, because the gas pump requires a new transaction in order to switch octanes

The fact that the customer service agent gave me $7 seems to confirm that I should have received the points. The app also says “a maximum of 2 offers may be claimed at the same location within 24 hours”. But it also says “if duplicate claims are made at the same site, you will receive cash back for one offer only”. Is that not directly contradictory?

I’ve tried to re-add the promotion after the first transaction, because I figured maybe you need to select the gas station for each transaction. But that doesn’t seem to be the case

Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to have to contact customer service every single week to get the correct number of points. But at this point I've probably lost like $20 worth of points

Upgrading to iPhone 16 with a two-year contract for 99 cents... is there a catch?

I currently have one line of AT&T Business Unlimited Advanced. My iPhone 12 Pro Max is paid off and my monthly plan is $91 with fees. My screen just broke and is showing vertical lines, so I'm debating if I should try replacing the screen or getting a new phone.

ATT is showing that I can upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max for $0.99, plus a one-time $50 upgrade fee. What's the catch? I don't plan on leaving ATT anytime soon, so I am fine with a two-year contract. Does my monthly bill go up significantly?

Is there a credit check? I read that ATT doesn't need a credit check if you're an existing customer with no major delinquencies. I've been with ATT since 2021 so I imagine I'm good in that regard.

What happens if my phone does not qualify as a valid trade in? I imagine that due to the screen damage it might not be eligible. Is there a fee, or am I just not eligible for this promotion in that case?

I know this is a few questions, I just don't wanna waste my time going to the AT&T store if I'm not eligible or if I'm misunderstanding the promotion

The Raptor Response is currently 50% off on Leatherman’s website, only $40

It seems like the Response sells poorly compared to the Rescue, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Leatherman is discontinuing it and they’re trying to clear out the remaining stock.

What would you do? I sent in a PS4 for warranty because the scissors spring broke. Leatherman is offering to replace with a Micra or send it back as-is

I still don’t understand why they discontinued the PS4? Leatherman, the famous folding plier company, no longer sells a pair of keychain-sized pliers. It’s crazy. I understand that material and manufacturing costs have gone up, but why not just raise the price? I distinctly remember the Wave+ being $100 in 2020, and now it’s $130.

The Gerber Dime exists but the quality is horrible. I’d rather pay overinflated prices for a used Squirt on eBay

Anyway, what do you think I should do? Replace with a Micra or keep the Squirt with broken scissor spring?

Drilling into an PM2 blade for a bearing mod?

I want to love the PM2, but tuning it drives me absolutely insane. Every single screw has to be absolutely perfect in order to make it slightly drop-shut with no blade play.

Even the body screws can affect the action, which is bizarre to me. On 90% of my knives, all I have to do is firmly tighten the body screws and then tune the pivot, and that’s good enough. But on the PM2, over-tightening the body screws will affect the folding action.

And then once it is adjusted, you have to loctite the crap out of all the screws, because even the slightest loosening will mess it up.

I’m wondering if a ball bearing mod would make the tuning and action easier to manage? I don’t think I’ve ever had issues tuning a ball bearing knife. Obviously the PM2 doesn’t have room in the handles for this, but I think the blade could accommodate it. On my J-Cape (pictured above) there are indents in the blade that the bearings go in, and that allows great action. I’m pretty sure that if someone had a machine that precisely drilled into a PM2 blade, it would be fantastic on bearings. Anyone know a company that does stuff like this?

Are the handles on the Rebar and Super Tool 300 “backwards”?

This is something that occurred to me recently. on the Swisstool Spirit X, all the tools are accessible from the outside, which makes them easier to use when needed. This also allows one-handed opening attachments for the blades. Then, when you open the pliers, your palm is against the back of the handle, providing a flat and smooth surface for your palm to grip. It is very comfortable

But on the Rebar and Super Tool 300, it’s the opposite. The tools are only accessible on the inside, meaning you must open the handles first. It also means that when you have the pliers open, the tools dig into your palm, making it more uncomfortable to use because there is less surface area to spread the force

Wouldn’t it have made a lot more sense for Leatherman to flip the handles like on the Swisstool?

[WTS] Hinderer XM-18 S35VN fatty tanto blade, tri-way conversion incomplete

https://imgur.com/a/j7FyXG3

This is an S35VN tanto fatty blade for the XM-18, pre tri-way. If you’re not familiar with Hinderer, the tri-way system is an indent in the pivot area that allows the knife to run on bearings. Prior to this, the pivot area was completely flat and the blade only ran on washers or teflon.

I partially drilled into the blade to create the indent for bearings, but never completed it. The blade, in its current form, cannot be used because the drilling needs to be completed. I mean, technically you could use it, but the lockup and action would likely be terrible.

The drilling was done very slowly so that the heat treatment of the blade was not altered.

The blade needs to be sharpened as well. There is a chip in the edge at the spot where the tanto edge curves up.

Payments: PPFF. 💰150, no trades

Frustrated with the Swiss Tool Spirit scissors, any mods / fixes?

I just bought this Swiss Tool Spirit brand new about a week ago, and while I’m very pleased with it, the scissors are terrible. First of all, you can’t open them wider, which makes no sense to me. On all other multitools, like Leathermans and Swiss Army Knives, you can open the scissors as wide as you want

And now the scissors are getting jammed and won’t open at all while cutting because the spring isn’t strong enough. I tried oiling the joint but it hasn’t made a difference. Is there a way to fix this?

How many different versions of the Charge TTi scales are there? Which scales are best?

I’m driving myself nuts here. I want to buy a Charge TTi, but first I want to understand the different variations. I know that some have a cap crimper and some don’t. The plus version has removable wire cutters, whereas the original doesn’t. But now I’m confused on scales. This one is a different design; I’m pretty sure it’s the first version they made.

But then these two look different, yet I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to be the same? The one on the left looks to be one color, whereas the one on the right (stock photo) is clearly two-tone. Is the stock photo just bad at capturing the shades? Or does the color change over time? The lettering in the stock photo also appears to be black, whereas in the real photo, it’s a light gray.

Here’s another example. The scales on the left appear to be one shade, whereas the scales on the right are distinctly two different shades

Can someone explain how many different version of the Charge TTi scales there actually are? And which is best?

Buying semi-rare Victorinox from Japan on eBay — safe / reliable?

There are a few semi-rare Victorinoxes that I want to buy, such as the Swiss Champ XXL and Swiss Tool Spirit MXBS. I’m looking on eBay and the cheapest ones are located in Japan, and I am in the US. A lot of the Japan listings use generic stock photos for the pictures (the same pictures that Victorinox uses for their listings, with a white background and whatnot). But the sellers also have really good reviews.

For example, there is a Swiss Tool Spirit MXBS for sale, $185 + $30 shipping. All the photos are generic stock photos, but the account has good reviews: https://ebay.us/m/ed2LXB

So I’m just wondering, are these safe to purchase? Is there a risk of them being scams or a knock off? Were these models just more prevalent in Japan than the US for some reason?

I took apart my Arc to do a deep cleaning, and then I made the dumb mistake of not putting it fully back together for a few days (got sidetracked). I just put it back together and I’m missing two parts — a washer and a pivot screw.

I have a Crunch and a Squirt that I need to send in for warranty. If I include a note, will Leatherman add the parts for the Arc when they ship back the Crunch and Squirt?

I used to follow this sub very closely, and I remember hearing mixed experiences with the warranty. Sometimes they would send a spare part no problem, other times they would make you ship it in, and sometimes they’ll say that the warranty is void since you took it apart. Does anyone have recent experience with this?

It feels unnecessary to ship it in since they’re easy parts to install. A washer and a screw probably costs them a penny. Although I can pay for it if Leatherman wants
