I am a beginner guitarist and I LOVE Megadeth, what are some easy riffs or whole songs to learn?(Preferably rhythm parts, I focus more on rhythm guitar)

Pretty confused about this thing regarding modes

Am I supposed to make a mode of a scale by just playing and coming back to a specific note? Or am I supposed to also change the scale according to the different modes interval patterns?

I see lot of people saying the first one, lots of people say the second one, I am pretty confused

Should I play more with a metronome or with a drum track

I heard some people say that you shouldn't play by metronome at all time, especially when you're on stage because it removes the tension that defines metal from the music but I heard some people say that you should always play with a metronome to be precise, what do you think about it?

Would buying a distortion or an overdrive pedal give me some kind of advantage over using my Blackstar ID Core built in OD1 and OD2 modes?
