Heizkörperventile in Sommerzeit

In vergangenen Jahren immer vergessen drauf aufzupassen.

Was meint Ihr dazu?

Using wood or chipboard screws in an aluminum bar or flat bar

How well do wood/chipboard-style screws work in aluminum? Specifically: drilling the hole, achieving a secure hold, and—if necessary—unscrewing and re-screwing the fastener while maintaining a fit comparable to the original installation.

Application: mounting an aluminum bar or flat bar (2–3 mm thick) onto a stainless steel sheet. An electronic device will be attached to the bar; the device's weight is comparable to, or at most equal to, the weight of the bar itself.

I considered bonding as an alternative. However, the adhesive would need to be thermally conductive, and bond degradation over time would be a concern.

Another alternative is riveting a U-profile, though that presents different challenges for this specific application.

Retrofitting tube T8 G13 16 Watt the radical way

Is it common practice to reduce the distance between the LED strips and the diffuser, as shown below?

As of time being the project is in its early phase of its planning. Let of details of final implementation need to be decided. All hardware purchases need to be made. Few further pictures (current state prior to placing LED-technology in fixture) in comments to this OP.

I want to carry out a radical retrofit—meaning I’ve removed everything associated with the T8 G13 fluorescent tube technology from the first of three fixtures—and replace it with LED strip technology. Several questions have arisen during the planning phase, but for now, I want to address the following point.

The fixture is nearly empty; only the rocker switch and the GST18 connectors remain (where power enters and is passed on to the next fixture in the chain). The simplest mounting method would be to stick the strip directly to the bottom of the fixture housing. However, the side of the fixture containing the switch would then block light from spreading toward the front edge of the kitchen countertop. This is because the transparent plastic housing—which acts as a diffuser—faces the wall beneath the overhead cabinet.
Hence my idea to reduce the distance between the LEDs and the plastic cover by using a U-profile, attached (via adhesive or another method) to the top inner surface of the fixture using one of the U-profile's side flanges (rather than its base). I’ll likely need to leave a small gap between the LEDs and the diffuser to allow for some heat circulation.

I have standard rivets and a riveting tool available. However, I haven't yet checked whether the thickness of the rivet assembly fits the project's constraints—the fixture needs to sit flush against the underside of the overhead cabinet to which it is mounted. Therefore, if I were to use adhesive to attach the U-profile to the fixture housing, the adhesive would need to effectively conduct heat to the fixture's metal casing.

Power rating of 5 meter strips - for while strip or per meter?

Looking for strip suiting my current project goals. Cause it is my first LED project and currently in very early phase of my planning I use this week only rough figures.

Looks like I will need to purchase 5 meters strip. Lot of details still to be determined. Power range of operational strip (after cut) estimated by myself to not higher than 20W. All purchases will be conducted in EU. All the offers of 5 meters strip I found so far and classify as candidates specify strip power rating in Watts. This is the point at which following question arises on my side:

Are these 5 meter strip power specifications literally for complete strip before any cut, or per 1 Meter of strip? Will I need to talk with seller every time to know it exactly?

I proceed by following plan in my project:
* know the details of strip target usage
* know the requirements the future user of the lighting raises
* know what is already given and is going be reused
* find matching strip
* find driver matching the strip and its used distance and number of strips in parallel circuit
* remaining steps

B48 B20O0 coolant color new fluid original when OFH cracked?

Do the common experiences regarding cracks in oil filter housing include coolant discoloration toward black?
F30 330i started in its age about 5 to present slow coolant leak. New coolant reservoir cap slowed it down. The cause of leak was never found.
However newest development is the exceed of coolant level above max marker in turbo charger reservoir. Additionally coolant in both reservoirs shows discoloration toward black - low temperature circuit stronger. Does a potential damage of head gasket need be taken in consideration?
Actually turbo charger cooling system does not flow cross head gasket, doesn't it? Question arises because coolant in low temp circuit is also black.

Cap of big reservoir is again hardly to unscrew like the months prior to cap renewal.

Lock of windshield cowl badly oriented.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BmwTech/s/dlf6X92COM opens this story narrative.

I can't imagine how the lock could get placed in bad (current) orientation without damaging the lock pin nor the borehole it sits in. I don't find damages on and around that one lock.

I tried to put in proper position but no easy way found to achieve it. Will eventually cause physical damages if I force it.

The Left-Side Cowl Trim

Has anyone else noticed that the central latch doesn't actually latch onto anything? When rotated to the "Locked" position, it simply points into the engine bay—where, however, there is nothing but empty space. This rotating tab cannot possibly provide a seal.
Observed on an F31 (Model Year 2016) purchased on European market.

Slow coolant lose since appx. 5th or 4th year of car age.

Does the pattern described below matches common experiences regarding symptoms of coolant losses?

BMW with B48 252 PS (built somewhen between late 2015 and early 2018) loses slowly coolant. So far no leakage spot found. Current diagnosis measure is the use of liquid detector die Brilliant Coolant available on european online retailers. A number of short-distance drives were accomplished with detector die put to cooling circuit. I can inspect engine bay using only infrared lamp (no special glasses available). So far got informed about BMW common weakness regarding coolant robber houses and observed micro-perforations of the hose connecting coolant reservoir with engine head. Following those hints I inspected that area using IR lamp and see spurious traces in area that I judge to be engine suspension below one such hose. Residuals look like pollen particles distributed slightly on upper surface of engine suspension more than continues tracks of dried fluid.

It is hard to document with camera what I see during inspecting the depths of engine bay.

The imprint on reflector inside this lamp sounds max. 100W. This lamp was produced in time when the world was still unaware of LED technology . Going to replace bulb with LED-based one, socket E27 power 12W, or 100W equivalent old-fashion bulbs. 1521lm brand Osram, ~230V. Will this LED bulb produce less heat than 100W old-fashion bulb?

Slides were created manually. They comprise only text. Each slide is a series of bullets while every bullet one rather short sentence. Zero backgrounds, template merely splits slide in two columns of text. Author decides how the columns get each filled with text. All the layout details presented so far need to be preserved.
The job for AI is to analyze the subject of each slide and generate up to three illustrations echoing subject 3 major points. Illustrations in form of stickers, symbols, icons, simple pictures symbolizing the subject of slides. To be delivered as PNG or SVG files. Illustrations to use only colors black, white, up to 3 grades of gray. Shapes in illustrations not overloaded with graphical details.

Slides topic is IT, computer networks, security, trainings.
So far chatGPT failed on this task. I however missed to prompt so far for instance that illustrations will complement presentation slides, must be understandable for human audience and illustrations work as they usually work on presentation slides.

What else to consider to succeed?
