Took a credit exchange offer for my 1st class airplane seat because of overbooking, then lost my credit and my seat when they didn't even fill the plane
Gate announced the flight was overcooked and asked that someone give up their seat for 500 bucks. No one jumped at it, so they kept raising the reward until it got to just over 2000 (flight credit OR Amex gift card). I didn't have anything to do the next day, so I took them up on it. They told me after boarding was finished, I'd get an email with reimbursement links and instructions.
Then they tell me, "sorry, but not everyone showed up, so we can't honor the offer, as you're still able to get on the plane." Which, okay, I'm out money I wasn't going to have in the first place. No biggie.
But while I was standing there waiting, they filled my first class seat with another passenger! They're giving me a refund for the difference, but give me a damn break! Feels like they just wanted a way to get the person they wanted into a first class seat. Shady af
