Like is it just a strong case of the limited time event quest curse? Like I love Xinyan despite her only being in Lantern Rite quests, but Keqing seems to be on a way bigger scale of popular than that and I never understood why.
Like, I get that this is a relatively mild and probably stupid thing to most people. And I GET that the narrative never treated her like an actual Harbinger like the others outside of the Lazzo trailer. This has been stuck in my head. It starts with one of beep-boop type beats with a high pitched voice (presumably saying the artists name) and then something like “anyyyyy boooooys, yeaaaah” then the dramatic orchestral kicks in and the chorus has something like “dnnfnjsj drag queen, ahhdjdbahjb gonna let it go(let it go)” (it’s hard for me to tell the vocals are a tad mumbly)
If given the chance I’d 100% be her stay at home housewife taking care of the home and children while she’s doing her murdery crime lord type activities…. I think about that scenario a normal amount of times per day…

The fact they sacrificed this absolute banger look/vibe just so they could reuse a walk cycle is kinda embarrassing tbh💀 like she looks SO pretty and graceful with the correct shoes- it would also make her animations look way more graceful and clean like a proper ballet dance and Hoyo literally KNOWS this because they knew the dancing in the trailer wouldn’t work as good with the heels…. But nooooooo\~ every woman needs high heels 24/7 no matter who they are, what they do or the areas landscape even after 6 years🙄

Okay, look, hear me out. I know the slander is pretty common. And I can’t defend all of it *cough* the school girl outfit *cough* (like I get what they were going for, but like, bruh). BUT I think Firefly is actually a lot more interesting as both a “love interest“ type but also as her own individual character than a lot of the women designed to be romantic interests are in these games. (Like Citlali in Genshin or Ye Shunguang in Zzz who I will be using as examples)
First: she actually has a defined character and story outside the Trailblazer- she‘s a warrior with a Warhammer esc sickness that ties her to her battle mech suit for life support so she’s forced to always fight. She’s a victim and survivor of genocide and war who wants to live a peaceful life despite not being able to cus of said sickness. And she’s a Stellaron Hunter with her own place in the Team Rocket esc dynamic they share with each other.
All of that is shone off in her trailers, the Penacony story and the 3.8 B-side quest(two of which Trailblazer is barely or is not at all a part off, as she does stuff on her own). Almost none of which is directly tied to Trailblazer, they *influence* her relationship with them but those parts of her character doesn’t revolve *around* them. Compare that to both Citlali and Ye Shunguang, who both have their own stories about the fear of outliving those you love and loosing yourself to (basically) magic dementia respectfully. But their trailers and time in the story likes to focus less on said interesting stories and more on their “waifuness“ (Ye Shunguangs trailers being especially bad at this). while Firefly’s focus on her lore and cool mech suit… Which leads me too-
Second: Her role as a love interest type actually does end up feeling more developed and interesting than most. While, admittedly, at first I *did* find her instant fondness for Trailblazer eye rolling. But after both the backstory and SAM reveal, it made infinitely more sense in retrospect. Where she wasn’t randomly into Stelle(I’m tired of typing trailblazer tbh), she was “into” Stelle because she already knew her because of Stelle’s amnesiac connection to the Stellaron Hunters which we’ve known about since the very start. And she was looking to *re*connect even if Stelle doesn’t remember her.
Not to mention that she has and acknowledges her relationships outside of Stelle, making said connection feel more like(as a wise bi catgirl put it) “just a *part* of” her and less “oh I met you two days ago and you’re my one and only love and my world revolves around you >~<“ which is a hole that really bugs me, that characters like Ye Shunguang and Cyrene kinda fall into where they seem to forget other friends exist when mc is around…
Overall: I think she’s actually more interesting and independent than people give credit for, especially compared to how bad she could’ve been when you look at other “waifu” types from the same company or media in general.
…..and did I actually make this post cus I find a fully armoured Kamen Rider mech women really cool and refreshing, and that I like her va for being open and vocal about disability rights and that I actually really relate to Firefly’s character and story and that I may-or-may-not have cried like a little b*tch at the end of 3.8?….maybe but you can’t prove it…..so uuuuh, yeah I stand by what I said.🤷♀️(also I don’t fully understand how the tags here work so if I got it wrong let me know)
Dynamic camera angles, interacting with items and the world, in-game cutscenes, detailed npc models, and actual variation in poses, faces and animations makes the story way more engaging on a basic visual storytelling front and it’s very appreciated. Even if it did take like 5 years to get here lmao, better late than never- hoping this keeps up for Snezhnaya.
