Greek mythology is having a moment, and I realized how much of it found its way into my novel

With Greek mythology having a moment again, I thought it was funny to realize how much of it found its way into I'm Not Crazy! The Story of Alcide.

Chronos and Kairos, references to the Labors of Heracles, Icarus, the Hydra of Lerna...

The story takes place in modern times, but apparently I couldn't resist bringing a few very old ideas along.

[Self Promo] My novel is now available on Kindle Unlimited

I recently published I'm Not Crazy! The Story of Alcide, a literary novel about ambition, failure, and an unexpected encounter between two very different men.

It’s now available to read through Kindle Unlimited. If that sounds like your kind of story, I’d be glad to have you give it a try.

Has anyone else included a section dedicated to music as extra content in a novel?

In one of my books, I included an extra section at the end featuring content connected to the story, including a period photograph of the city where it takes place (courtesy of the city's public library) and what I like to call a "musical bibliography", a collection of 14 songs that directly or indirectly resonate with the narrative.

The idea came naturally because the music gradually became part of the story itself. In one scene, two songs spark a conversation between the main couple. Living in Boston, the young woman dreams of moving to San Francisco—a free spirit in the 70s—and her dream reminds him of the flowers in her hair from Scott McKenzie's San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair). In response, he quotes the Bee Gees' Massachusetts, a more grounded song about returning from San Francisco.

Elsewhere, a street musician appears, a character casually mentions a song, and in other scenes the music is never explicitly named, yet it shapes the atmosphere and emotions of the moment.

Has anyone else included a section dedicated to music as extra content in a novel?

[Self Promo] A story about ambition, failure, and what truly matters

I thought I'd share my novel, I'm Not Crazy! The Story of Alcide, now available on Kindle Unlimited.

The story follows a former Harvard economics graduate and rising venture capitalist who eventually becomes homeless on the streets of Boston. Years later, a simple encounter with a young volunteer forces both men to see life differently.

Thanks for taking a look if it sounds like your kind of read.

Poland in focus. Sunny Play Home.

Lately we've seen a lot of information about Poland, and I've noticed that Polish culture and even politics have been very much in the spotlight in recent months.

Bearing this in mind, I wanted to share an intriguing read from Polako Markov's book about the story of a Polish family who move to Florida in the USA to make money creating children's content on YouTube.

The book is notably a critique of the lucrative exploitation of children through YouTube videos. It is somewhat "dystopian", but interesting food for thought. The book is called Sunny Play Home.

From Harvard to Homelessness: A story based on a life-changing 30-minute encounter [Kindle Unlimited]

Hello everyone! I'm Leandro Marcon. I'm a corporate lawyer by day, but I spend my free time writing.

Back in 2008, I had a chance encounter that marked me so deeply I knew I had to share it. After years of reflecting on it, I finally published the story last month.

The book is a work of fiction heavily inspired by these real-world events.

Here is a quick synopsis:

In 1948, a newborn is adopted by his aunt and grows up in Boston. He goes on to study Economics at Harvard and becomes a highly successful, visionary venture capitalist. However, his own blind ambition gets him fired. Blinded by pride and refusing to take a job below his standards, he spirals downward until he ends up homeless on the streets.

Then comes 2008. He crosses paths with a young man who is completely lost and searching for meaning in life. They only talk for 30 minutes, but that single conversation changes both of their lives forever.

The book is now available on Kindle Unlimited! I would love to hear your thoughts if you check it out.

I am looking for a volunteer psychology student to analyze a fictional character based on real events. The story is about a homeless man who achieved professional success before living on the streets.

Are there any volunteer psychology student who would like to read my book and analyze the main character? This is the story of a 60-year-old homeless man who was adopted as a baby by his aunt, but only discovered he was adopted at the age of 10 (he discovered it on his own).

After that, he isolated himself in his own world, studied Economics at Harvard, had great professional success in Boston, but when ambition led him to lose his job and he couldn't find something better or up to his level, he ended up living on the streets.

The book is a work of fiction based on real events.

[Free eBook] I’m a lawyer who met a homeless former venture capitalist in 2008. His story changed my life, so I wrote this book. Free on Amazon!

Hello, I'm Leandro Marcon, a corporate lawyer who enjoys writing in my free time.

In 2008, an encounter marked me so deeply that I decided to write about it, and I published it last month.

So, the book is a work of fiction based on real events.

In short, a child adopted by his aunt in 1948 grows up in Boston, studies Economics at Harvard, becomes a visionary venture capitalist, but, due to his ambition, is fired. Out of pride for not finding another job that meets his needs, he ends up homeless. In 2008, however, he meets a young man searching for meaning in life. This conversation lasts 30 minutes, but it changes both their lives.

The book is available for free on Amazon.

It’s based on a real story of a man who was adopted under unusual (and troubling) circumstances, almost like he was “sold” as a child, and how that shaped everything that came after.

I’m curious how others here interpret his early life and whether you think those beginnings influenced the path his life took.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
