Moraba Havij with Parsnips?

Has anyone here heard of substituting carrots with parsnips in moraba havij and if so, is the taste very off or ok? I saw a lot of carrot jam recipes on my instagram fyp and I am interested in making something similar but I had parsnips instead and rather than getting carrots I would prefer to use what I already have at home but not if the taste just doesn't work.

[Spoilers MAIN] Something I found interesting about Tywins story connections

In the background George wrote for the history of Casterly rock, the founder of casterly rock, Corlos Casterly was the one who discovered the gold mine when he spared the life of a lions cubs after killing the lion and its mate.

In contrast, Tywins takeover of Kingslanding, ended with Aegon and Rhaenys brutally murdered alongside the rest of their parents and grandfather.

Do you think its a hint that because of Tywins actions that he himself will face some sort of divine justice in terms of his own family being wiped out and another taking their place as the rulers of casterly rock?

I know hes dead already but since the series has so much focus on houses and legacy it would make sense.

Whats the point of this place?

I am of the that people choosing whether or not to have children is a purely personal choice so I don’t understand the concern about whether or not people are having children.

I‘m curious about the people here and why other people having children is important to them?

It just seems like theres so much discussion on here about getting more people to have kids when it ignores the fact that a lot of people in the past never wanted to have kids and now that theres so much education around family planning and people see the realities of parenthood they are able to and often do opt out.

If people don’t want to have kids then they simply will avoid it and no amount of incentives can make people go against their wishes so whats the point?

Despite the controversial nature of the scene, it was pretty cool

When Catelyn was confronted by Tyrion and decided to stop ignoring him, the whole scene where she's reaffirming ties with her fathers bannermen and going around to each one asking about their families and then at the very end just making her order as the daughter of Hoster Tully was really cool to watch and kind of similar to the scene with Cersei and Littlefinger where she said power is power.

I also found it interesting how this same episode had Cersei comment to Ned how Sansa only took after her Tully mother and then we have this scene where Catelyn is acting as a Tully and using Tully allies. .

Something I don’t understand

Sansa is said to have gained her experience and political skills from Cersei and yet the show writing tells us that Cersei isn’t as smart as she thinks she is.

All the while, we’re told Sansa is suddenly an expert top political mind.

Is this the show contradicting itself?

Why did Sansa need to be queen in the north rather than bending the knee and allowing Jon to be Danys husband and king thereby maintaining good will with the crown?

Where did Dany who raised an army and conquered Mereen and overthrew the slavers go?

why does she suddenly allow some random girl who became a ruler like a week ago to remind her to have enough food for the dragons she is the mother of and raised?

Why does Sansa feel confident speaking so recklessly to a woman bringing a large army and three dragons?

why was Bran chosen as king over Arya who actually killed the night king and saved them all.

Why was Jon sent to the wall for killing Dany for Sansa when she was banging on about the north remaining seperate?

[Spoilers MAIN] What was the darkest part of the books in your opinion?

I know the red wedding and the Reek arc were really dark but I also think the harrenhall arc where Arya, Lommy, Hot pie and Gendry tried to survive then ended up with Roose Bolton taking over from the mountians men was pretty dark as well. Especially since Arya in this arc was still only about 10 and it was when Lommy got killed for not being able to walk.

What are some underrated dark chapters or arcs that you think aren't really brought up much?

Every time I come across a post from this sub its always the most disgusting extreme views

Like EVERY SINGLE FUCKING POST is literally about people bein blamed for daring to have children.

Theres posts bashing Gazan families for having children and raising families just because their country is being attacked by the idf and innocent people especially children are being killed but according to a large majority on this sub, the blame lies with the parents for daring to reproduce and not just letting themselves get killed off by a genocidal ethnostate.

Theres posts basically attacking anyone who dares to have a nuanced view on bringing children into the world rather than constantly calling all parents evil (I've seen this kind of view 100% unironically)

There was even a post a while back when Nara Smith announced her daughter was diagnosed with cancer, people were attacking this influencer because she apparently shoulf have predicted her childs unpredictable cancer that even the doctors didnt pick up on and its apparently her fult for giving birth to a baby.

Like, theres always so many extreme views on this sub and it just makes me wonder whats even the purpose here?

Like, are people supposed to decide that being insulted and dogpiled constantly will decide to turn around and start seeing from your perspective?

My question to the people who frequent this sub and consider themselves to be less extreme in their views, what is your opinion on how discussions on this sub go and do you support this kind of discourse?

Anyone else remember this monologue from Yoren?

Its probably the best way for the writers to show Arya picking up the idea of her list from the mantra Yoren had and even a subtle way to show how she took the warning as a suggestion.

Its very interesting how Arya decides to continue with her journey for revenge because shes still burning with anger towards the world for ruthlessly separating her from her family, from her home, from her people who made the journey south with her family.

Just seeing this after the way the execution was shown with Arya in the crowd and seeing how powerless she is to stop her father from being killed and from how much more powerful the Lannisters are.

I saw a lot of people saying she took the wrong lesson but I don't think there really was a right or wrong lesson, Yoren didnt seem regretful over taking revenge but he presented the consequence matter of factly to her and in Arya's mind, its likely shes accepted whatever consequence comes from revenge but she will still bide her time and be smart about her revenge.

Just got my order from dr bugs popcorn $25 box deal

all in all, pretty good deal for $25 and free shipping so it was all I paid.

I got two bags of double caramel, a bag of lemon meringue pie a small sample pouch of cappuccino choc, a bag of dark choc jaffa, a bag of hokey pokey ice cream and three micro wave popcorn bags.

I really enjoyed the lemon meringue pie flavour.

Interesting throwback scene of Tywin Lannister and Arya Stark at Harrenhall reflecting on the death of the original inhabitants

I just found the scene interesting considering how they state that they were killed by dragn fire rather than a sword.

The reason Nate was so uncharacteristically nice was because he had Juana as his personal punching bag.

if you’re familiar with the short story, theres this sci fi story about a society thats able to give everyone in it a good life because they have children that they’ve nominated to be tortured in the place of the society.

As long as the children are tortured and hidden away, everyone else gets to have a good life.

These children are referred to as omela and I been thinking about people with narcissistic and/or abusive behaviours and one things they’ll always have are people who go out of their way to back them because these individual in question are able to put on a charming front and treat them well.

In this case, with Nate being an adult who was once a very image conscious young man and knowing all the accusations about his abusive behaviour to others, of course he knows Cassie wouldnt keep quiet if he took his abuse out on her but Juana is a low income woman with the vulnerability of being a migrant and less likely to be able to defend herself.

All of the vitriol and abuse from early season Nate is still there, it never went away and its literally in plain view with how he treats Juana but to the audience these are played off for laughs and not treated with the seriousness it deserves, look for example at his scene with Juana when she’s asking about putting the food away.

Something I've always found a bit weird about Vervain

If its supposedly the only weakness of the vampires and it prevents them being able to use their mind control powers, with the amounts of centuries that a lot of the vampires have lived, you would've thought they could have got rid of all Vervain or at least developed a variety that mocks the look and smell of vervain without affecting them that they could pass off as real vervain to give people a false sense of security.

So with Black Noirs pitch to the supe pastor being that Homelander could pretend to heal his voice, I just think it would be funny if Homelander tried to pretend to heal someone as a miracle and Marie ends up healing them for real and stealing his thunder on live tv. I mean, it would definitely be the most interesting way of her abilities being showcased on the main show and would probably lead to Homelander spiralling even further so I would enjoy if they did something like this on the show.

Like, even just discussing the main show rather than just gen v, I feel like this sub has more freedom to post and the main sub is just way too over moderated that it becomes really boring to visit and just has less interesting discussion overall.
