Clubber has Money

How else is he getting tickets to every one (10) of Rocky’s title defenses, including the Thunderlips fight? This isn’t some community-level bar league boxing but major sports events. With all the fees and the Ticketmaster add-ons he must be dropping some serious coin to keep showing up.

Newish to the Area, Decent Midspeed Rides?

Im out in Bastrop and have recorded a couple routes on Rever but none of them are top notch. I’m sure something better is on the west side of town, any I should check out this weekend? I am NOT riding all the way down to the Twisted Sisters

Carb Settings ‘82 110

Pulled my carb apart to clean it and made the rookie mistake of not checking the air screw before I took it out. Typically I aim for 1-1/2 turns out from bottom but this bike barely runs at that setting.

Also, what’s the best place to hook up a timing light to check RPMs? My downloaded pdf service book doesn’t suggest anything.

Old Pakistani Knife I Just Picked Up

Action is still good and tight and definitely shows signs of having been put to work. The edges are kind of shit and uneven so I’m going to have to spend some time straightening them. $3 at a flea market, probably worth just that much.

Fast Moving Critters

What’s the best way to capture photos of the quick little bastards like rhino beetles and the like? I caught a bladed rhino then tried to drop and snap a photo for the compendium and zip-zoop damn thing was gone in a flash. No picture and now I don’t have the beetle either.

‘00 Sport 4.0 /auto Still Not Running

Started with a CEL showing intermittent cylinder misfire. Replaced the coil rail and pigtail and it ran fine for a few days then wouldn’t start. Tests fuel pressure and it was low so I replaced the fuel pump, tested the rail with two different test gauges and it is now testing good. Sent the PCM to WranglerFix and they tested it in another TJ and it was good. Tried new relays for the ignition & fuel pump and ASD (per the advice of Matt w/WranglerFix and it still won’t start. Battery is a 12 month old redtop and and the starter spins fast and smooth. Only thing I can think of is a neutral safety switch but I tried starting in Park and Neutral, still nothing. Where else can I look?

New Console Stereo Pickup

Wife found this on the local fB market and we had to go get it. All five tapes play and switch, the stereo itself sounds amazing and the record player even works but who cares about vinyl compared to the premium sound of an 8-track? No longer is my collection isolated to the small portable system in the garage.

What Size Chain?

My 82 110 has what I think is the OEM chain but in surprisingly good shape after a little cleaning. I’ll replace it eventually but I had to grind down the pins on one link in order to remove it to drop the engine and I want to get a new master link in the meantime till I strip the chassis and redo the whole thing with a new chain. What I cannot figure out is what size chain it needs so I can get a master link.

No Start ‘00 Sport 4.0l

Rig has 250k miles on it. Was running and driving fine, reliably started up but one day it stumbled and had a CEL showing a multiple cylinder misfire a couple months back. I replaced the coil rail and pigtail and it started back up once then became erratic starting when cold. Tested fuel pressure and it was low so I dropped the tank and replaced the fuel pump. It is still erratic starting, still seems like the fuel pump but I put a pressure testing kit on it again with the new pump and it’s good pressure so I’m not sure wtf is going on with it. Most days it won’t start at all, even if I try to “trick” the fuel pump with the quick on-off key turn.

Any ideas what else to look into? When it’s running I’m not getting any CELs and my code reader isn’t showing anything off.

Anniversary Ride on my 620

20 years ago today I took a hit from an 18-wheeler that crossed the centerline on Deals Gap and destroyed my 883 Sportster along with my left leg, so to commemorate that auspicious moment I rode out through some central Texas hill country lanes on my current daily rider. Good times, clear roads with some twist to them, decent weather and lots of green forestation right now made for a pleasant ride

82 ATC110 Refresh

In addition to the hole in the exhaust and the bent shift shaft, I have found a couple other little issues on this rig. I pulled the carb and replaced all the seals and discovered the slide is beaten all to hell, and one of the bolts on the intake-to-head is stripped so there’s a healthy air leak. Gonna have to bust out the helicoil kit this weekend and order a new slide. I did also get a replacement front wheel o-ring and ordered a new front tire so hopefully soon I’ll be putting around on this poor thing.

My wife’s Wrangler was retired from daily driver duty to a weekend toy several years ago. 280,000 miles, 4.0l w/ auto. Was driving it last fall and got a CEL, checked the code and it indicated multiple cylinder misfires. Replaced the coil rail and it started and ran fine, no more CEL. Then one day it wouldn’t start. Replaced the pigtail for the coil, started and ran fine for a few days. Then it wouldn’t run again, would just spin the engine endlessly. Put a fuel pressure tester on it and engine on/not running the pressure would peak at 35psi then trickle down. Remarkably while doing this test the engine decided to start again so I checked pressure while at idle, right around 48psi (see photo). I can’t find my Haynes manual but I read online my engine off pressure should be 49psi, so I am reading this as a bad fuel pump or possibly a crimped line but for its age and mileage I’m thinking pump replacement anyway. Anything else I might be missing?
