What's the best way to record the click sound of a mouse? Any Tips and Tricks?
Hi guys, thought this sub might be the right place for this question.
I want to record a sound test for my modded gaming mouse, but I'm struggling to figure out the best audio setup for capturing really crisp clicks.
So far the obvious / my ideas are:
- keeping the mic very close to the switches / using a stable stand to remove vibriations
- removing background noise as much as possible (recording it on no-fan laptop instead of pc)
- One thing I'm considering is building some kind of small acoustic-panel / sound-box setup around the mouse and microphone. Basically like a mini recording booth for the clicks.
Would that actually help make the clicks sound cleaner and crisper instead of hollow/roomy, or would it just make the sound too dead/dampened?
Also curious about:
- best surface/material under the mouse
- any other tips/tricks?
thank you very much :)
