Hi guys, thought this sub might be the right place for this question.

I want to record a sound test for my modded gaming mouse, but I'm struggling to figure out the best audio setup for capturing really crisp clicks.

So far the obvious / my ideas are:

• keeping the mic very close to the switches / using a stable stand to remove vibriations
• removing background noise as much as possible (recording it on no-fan laptop instead of pc)
• One thing I'm considering is building some kind of small acoustic-panel / sound-box setup around the mouse and microphone. Basically like a mini recording booth for the clicks.

Would that actually help make the clicks sound cleaner and crisper instead of hollow/roomy, or would it just make the sound too dead/dampened?

Also curious about:

• best surface/material under the mouse
• any other tips/tricks?

Hab generell oft die Erfahrung gemacht, dass Unternehmen sagen „nur paar Tage/Wochen gültig“, aber in der Realität werden selbst Monate alte Labels noch verarbeitet 😅

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the process of starting high-effort & higher quality (camera wise) tech videos (think product reviews / keyboard sound tests) and I’m torn on my audio setup.

The Gear:

• Current: Razer Seiren V2 Pro (Easy to use, sounds fine to my ears).
• Alternative: Shure SM7B + Shure MVX2U interface (Borrowed from a friend, he doesnt need it).

The Problem: I tried the Shure setup, but the volume is extremely low compared to the Razer. From what I’ve read, I likely need a dedicated interface and a Cloudlifter/preamp to actually drive the SM7B properly.

The Question: For high-quality tech niche content, is it worth spending ~$200 on extra gear to get the Shure running(+ the effort)?

I don't want to be "lazy" with the Razer and regret it later, but I also don't want to overspend if the quality jump isn't massive for someone who isn't an audio expert.

How noticeable is the difference for professional-style videos?

Any advice from audio experts would be appreciated!
