Stress fracture recovery timeline after the boot

I have a metatarsal stress fracture (I think the 5th). The DPM put me in a walking boot for 4-6 weeks. I have a week long mountain bike packing trip starting mid August. I'm cleared to ride a stationary bike. My DPM says I should be able to go but I think they're overly optimistic. Assuming I'm out of the boot after four weeks is 2 weeks enough to get my ROM back?

4 wheel convenience is more important than 2 wheel safety

Biked down to the big craft fair starting on 2 and Greenwood. I regularly take this bike route but I guess parking in a traffic lane is fine.

massage therapist for ankle pain

Hi there,

Without getting into all the details of my missed up ankle I'm looking for massage therapist recommendations. I have a joint replacement and have a lot of swelling and pain in my inner ankle due to a leg injury that reduced circulation to my ankle for a few weeks.

Looking for someone that does scraping’ like Graston or Gua Sha., ‘cupping’ and ‘lymphatic drainage.’ I've also been told to look into neural manipulation.

Just had my initial appt. What should I know\questions to ask?

I'm 55 and have cataracts in both eyes likely from prolonged use of a steroid inhaler. I'm 20/40 in my right eye and 20/70 in my left. I have really strong near sighted vision. However, after talking it over with the Dr I'm going with the Vivity lenses because I do a lot of mountain biking and skiing so low light visibility is a priority. I also like to read, but the Dr mentioned something about tuning my eye to -1 so I'll likely need readers. My right is being done first since its my nondominant eye. My surgery isn't until late August.

Is there anything I should know about the Vivity or other questions I should look into since I have some time to make changes?

Appreciation for our childhood shows

Went to grab a coffee this morning and the two twenty something baristas were talking about classic shows they like to watch. One says have you seen the electric company. The other says no and the first responds how nobody knows what it is. I just start singing 1,2,3,4,5. Told her to check out HR Pufnstuf before I left

Where to park money for six months

My brother recently passed away. I met with his wealth advisor and his estate is looking at a significant tax bill. Any suggestions on where I should put the money for the next six months? VMXX or should I maybe look at CDs?

You lost a brother but I lost a customer.

My brother passed away and I'm the executor. He lived in Canada and let me tell you the telecom customer service staff are something else. I called Three different companies to cancel wifi, cable and cell service. Each one of them made sure to give me a sales pitch for their service. Not the right time bed

Breaking News: MLSE offers Maples Leafs head coach job to Kim Jong Un.

The leadership at MLSE realized Babcock's methods were effective but he didn't go far enough. That's why they are turning to a true master of 24/7 surveillance and 100% obedience from his players. Un is mulling the offer over, but word is stumbling blocks are he's unsure if he can deal with the excessive demands of the local media and the fans if he doesn't win a playoff series.

Resetting a deceased person's computer

My brother passed away recently and I'm the executor of his estate. He has a mac desktop. Unfortunately he used a password manager which I cannot access so I have no way of logging in to the computer or accessing his apple account. Is there a way I can reset the computer? Could it be done if I take it to the apple store?

Realtors familiar with West end

Hello

I'm the executor of my brother's estate. I've been advised to look into an appraisal for his condo. Can anyone recommend some realtors I can reach out to?

EDIT: A realtor opinion on the value of the condo is fine for my purposes. It's being done because market value might be notably higher than assessed value

Accessing after death

My brother just passed away. He printed out the emergency kit but in his nature never wrote down the master password. I know this is essential to access his account. I'm now going through random scraps of paper with passwords written on them. What's 1 password policy about locking accounts after a number of random attempts? Do they put a temporary lock or is there a point where it's permanent?

Private medical walk in clinics around the West End

I have to come up to Vancouver to deal with a family matter. I'll be there when I need some stitches removed. I live in the US now so I'll have to pay out of pocket. Are there any private walk in clinics in the west end where I can schedule an appointment?

Managing an estate as a US resident

Hi all,

Thank for your help so far on my other questions about my brother's recent passing. Here's my situation as the sole surviving member of immediate family (father, mother, brother deceased).

  • Mother passed away in Saskatchewan in March- probate is relatively straightforward. Many assets have already been disbursed. The two items in probate are a non-registered investment account and her retail bank account. Taxwise a 2026 terminal return will be filed and I expect there will also be a 2027 return. My brother and I were listed as 50/50 beneficiaries.
  • Brother passed away in BC a few days ago. I don't yet know the nature of his investments and he owns a condo outright. I also don't have a copy of his will but passed on conversations with him my mom (now deceased) and I are the sole beneficiaries.

My brother was the executor of our mom's estate. I'm the back up executor. I'm also the executor for my brother's estate, confirmed verbally by my brother.

To make things even more fun, although I am a CDN citizen, I have been living in the US for the past 20 odd years. Are there any pros\cons to being the executor versus recusing myself and letting a trust company handle things? Is it a highly case specific thing? Is it different for each estate (ie would it be easier for my mother to be the executor because its more straightforward)?

TIA

Proof of death pending death certificate

My brother recently passed away and I am the executor of his estate. Because his death was unexpected and he was relatively young and in good health, the BC Coroner's office is going to do a full autopsy. They couldn't give me a timeline for when that will be complete. They told me a funeral home could give me a pending registration document, as proof my brother is deceased to help start settling his affairs.

The funeral director told me most places will only accept a death certificate, but he will send me a statement of services.

My question is there a document I can use as proof my brother is deceased? My main urgent concern is working with his bank to cut off his credit card and bank account, and to set up an estate account. I live several hours away and don't want to make the long drive if I have limited\no ability to work on settling his estate.

When can police\first responders enter premises in BC

My brother, who lives in Vancouver, did not show up for work today, and is not responding to door knocks from neighbors, phone calls, texts. I called the local PD nonemergency line to request a wellness check. He does not have a history of mental illness, but he's in his mid50s and I'm afraid he suffered a medical issue in his place (he lives alone). An officer called and asked if anyone has a key to his place. Nobody does. My questions are:

  1. My brother has appointed me his representative and signed a representation agreement in front of an attorney, which I have a copy. Am I able to authorize police entry to his condo?
  2. If #1 is a no, how long before police\first responders can enter his condo?

cataracts

I had my first flare in 2007 and I've been taking steroids since 2011. Today in my 50s I found out I need cataract surgery in both of my eyes. The most likely cause is prolonged steroid use. Don't get me wrong, the inhaler has been a game changer allowing me to eat and all my bad flares that led me to the ER happened before. However, something to share for my fellow EoE sufferers to get regular eye exams and if you notice a sudden change in your eyes (my 7 month old Rx is woefully out of date) get them checked out ASAP.
