Stainless Steel BBQ

My 4 burner bbq has developed some issues that make me nervous to use it, mainly one of the control knows is stuck in the open position and it also seems to have a bit of a leak where the flame tube connects to the tube that runs between them all. Thinking it may be scrap time for it.

Would it be worth it to try and take it apart and scrap as its various components or should I just take it in whole minus the grates which I want for a project....

Monarch Catapiller

Monarch Catapillar

We usually find them before they get quite this big, but spotted the first monarch catapillar of the year today. Been growing milkweed for close to 10 years, took a couple years for them to find it, but now we usually end up with 2 or 3 a season that we know of.

A nice surprise

This was a very nice surprise for my dad while playing with some bluegills and baby bass tonight!

*Edit to add. It's a crappie folks, they are pretty resilient and having it out of the water for a few extra seconds for a picture with my 70 year old father was not harming it I assure you.

McCormicks the rise and fall

Stumbled on this pretty interesting little documentary about the rise and fall of McCormicks here in London. I think a couple of our members are actually mentioned near the end...

Used to be able to go coast to coast to coast by train here....

This is so frustrating to see how much more access we used to have by train Via is our main passenger train provider, and the prices have sky rocketed for the limited runs they do.

*** I feel I need to add another edit. There seems to be a LOT of focus on major cities and almost no one is talking about all of the smaller cities and towns that those rail lines connected. The ones without airports for people to use. The ones without any options aside from a car or an expensive ride share to get to other towns or cities. What about those places?

*edit to add since some dont open the whole picture, but this is for daily service

**edit to also add i never in a million years expected this to get anywhere near this much attention.... was just depressing and frustrating to see the difference

Low voltage code

2016 van is throwing a low voltage code, had battery checked. Amps are 100 and something, I believe the volts were 11 point something but im not sure. It started throwing the code yesterday when I was a ways from home so I nursed it home. Checked code today, then went to start it after havibg it "on" for the code reader... and it was dead to the point of needing a boost but has started 3 times since. Should I replace battery or alternator or find someone else with a volt meter (was checked at a store).

How to test a battery

Was given a large expensive marine deep cell battery during a clean up job today (think its a 100AH) but buddy said he hadn't used it in a year or so and wasn't sure if it was still any good or not and he upgraded to lithium.

Is there a way to test it at home without trying to find a shop... I do have a trickle charger as I own a similar battery. If its toast then im going to scrap it or offer to a friend who pours lead fishing weights

Rings

Ok folks, I have a question that I'm hoping you can help me with.

A few months ago I tragically lost my heirloom wedding band at work (it was my grandfather's, so about 72 years old, and was made of both gold and platinum) and I could not find it despite my best efforts.

Unfortunately life has been kicking the daylights outta me this year (that was the start of it), and I simply don't have any real money to invest in a similar replacement (sure can't afford gold with today's prices) and it wasn't insured (yes im an idiot). So what im curious about is roughly what would a silver men's wedding band style ring in silver go for these days on the second hand market (in CND).

I really miss having a ring on that finger, and need an idea of what I should be trying to save up, and then I may post on PM's for sale to see if anyone has something that would work.

Buddy found and tested an awesome new UL rod

Buddy of mine found an epic UL rod with some nice back bone from a certain Chinese site for less then $25 and now I need to figure out how I'm sneaking one past my wife lol.... if you wanna check it out and have some laughs I'll post a link to his video he did testing it out (he got quite a surprise near the end). I may try to post a picture of the item in the comments since Reddit auto deletes any links to that site.

What is the likely material

Non magnetic, google seems to think it might be a honing mandrel.... I have a diaper box a little more then half full of these and just wondering what the material likely is and if I should scrap or try to sell. Says Sunnen. Came out of an old barn that had a lot of old tools and car related machines

Proud of my son

Took my son out to a pond owned by a ckub we belong to where they stock trout for put and take (literally not allowed to release). He managed to catch his limit for the first time in about a year so I was super proud. He also got a nice black crappie (most are around 5" here).

Took my character Jack Hammer (who is coming into his 19th year btw) out to visit friends and make some new ones at the Shock Stock horrow convention in London Ontatio this past weekend. Even got to meet up with my buddy, director Warren Fulton and film some scenes for his upcoming feature length film. If anyone is interested in seeing more or following Jack you can find him on all social medias under London Ontatrio's Jack Hammer
